Hi all

It is odd only BIS seem to have solved the problem of making successive versions better.

Total war took a step back with Medieval II, BF and GR did the same.

ArmA is like OFP it just gets better.

Kind Regards walker

Do you think the performance issue is a fixable thing, or something permanent the community will just need to adjust to regardless?

We already saw that it grew better from patch to patch. As time passes, our rigs will get better, the patches will make it more performant, and at some point in the future these points will meet for a nice graphical experience. smile_o.gif

In that way ArmA is indeed different: Most games look top notch when they come out, but are soon boring. ArmA doesn't get boring, and at some point it will look top notch!

Now that the ingame graphics are a more card-performance related issue the performance is guaranteed to increase as the hardware increases in capability smile_o.gif

OFP seemed to be "capped" as far as performance went. So in answer to your question - performance will increase, most notably with hardware improvements.

thats based on the fact that if BI are still interested to keep the patches coming, and thats why we're here to support them, give them ideas instead of bullshitin "this not right" "this is wrong", for the sakes of a narrow market

As for me ArmA looks very pretty right now inlove.gifinlove.gif

and i can play it smooth as ever, maybe not with huge FPS, but very playable(with my trusty 7600gt), and that makes me enjoy ArmA night after night smile_o.gifsmile_o.gif

so BIS bring on the fast roping yay.gifyay.gifyay.gif

For real! wink_o.gif

Yeah after the 1.25 patch I can play with all settings on high except for textures, and I have AA and AF disabled and I get 20-25 FPS, so I'm happy. The game looks incredible to me!

My systems specs are:

AMD 64 3400+

NVIDIA 7600GS with 512RAM

2GB DDR400 RAM

XP Home Edition

i could stay most on high with decent fps with 1024x768, drop them all to normal then i could go HD wink_o.gif

I got everything on normal, post processing low, shadows and blood disabled, and low AA and AF 1280x1024 resolution.

I could try with AA and AF off and crank up the textures and shading detail.

Big enough, unfortunately sad_o.gif

ArmA 1.05beta is just playable for me on the first, but not on the latter (which is the native res of my tft) ... huh.gif

Now I'm getting interested smile_o.gif

I have all settings on low except Models which is on normal and shadows which is off. Windows is tweaked in terms of performance. How can I go up to 1280x1024 without dropping my FPS from ~24 to <18 ?

Try 1280x960 and set terrain to very low (no grass) smile_o.gif .

Hmm dunno, but I think I rather have it a bit nicer and pixelated than a bit uglier and not so pixelated. Let's better stop this though before we get bashed for pulling the thread off topic. whistle.gif

Try playing the game in Windowed mode, so that although it's playing at 1024x768, it's being displayed within your native resolution. It's what I do, and it works really well for me.
