sirex 0 Posted August 16, 2006 can someone explain this a bit better ? - i dont really understand the original post, or its answer.
Scrub 0 Posted August 16, 2006 OFP vehicles have awesome cockpit interiors that are modeled in 3D. I guess that Elite had 2D pictures instead. Â
znashin 0 Posted August 16, 2006 For me there were three things that made ofp ofp. Massive, varied, believable geography. Moddability, above and way beyond anything that came before it. Being able to look around and totally immerse myself in a vehicles gritty, exciting interior. Everytime I'm travelling in a Hind or a Blackhawk, as a pilot or a passenger, to a mission area I get that twelve-year-old-trying-to get-to-sleep-on-the-night-before-christmas-and-I'm-getting-a-bmx feeling. Whether it's a Hummer or a Hind the interiors really do make me believe I'm actually there instead of, as original poster said, a more fps/HUD display. I can't imagine this sort of modelling is easy but it is absolutely priceless in my opinion. Turned out to be a bit of a thank you BIS post so thank you BIS but my point is, for me, this was as much an integral part of ofp as anything else and it wouldn't be the same without it. GBee 0 Posted August 16, 2006 I guess that Elite had 2D pictures instead. Not quite. OFP:E just removed the internal view, you were either using the weapon sights/commander sights/driver periscope or turned out. You didn't get to see or look around the inside of the tank. Scrub 0 Posted August 16, 2006 Hmm that's better solution than a crappy 2d image. Good choice to cut, BIS!

Interesting... Â What do the passengers (non-crew members) see, if you don't mind me asking? Thanks, DreDay
EiZei 0 Posted August 16, 2006 Hmm that's better solution than a crappy 2d image. Â Good choice to cut, BIS! You do know what makes tanks challenging to use? Not being able to see like you were on foot. The 3rd perspective was necessary for console resolutions but..

Urgh.. that sounds real bad . What if your in the cargo seat of a BMP or M113? .
berghoff 11 Posted August 17, 2006 I think it just partly removed to be easier to use on a console. I mean with the low resulotion on the TV you can't see much anyway thru the small windows if you can't move your head forwad to it.
robert(uk) 0 Posted August 17, 2006 Yeah I hope good vehicle interiors are in for ArmA. This was something that I always loved in JO, and missed badly in BF2...
paragraphic l 2 Posted August 17, 2006 OFP:E only didn't have the commander, driver and gunner cockpits of the tanks. The passengers still have the same internal views, and all the other vehicles did keep their cockpits.
Heatseeker 0 Posted August 17, 2006 Yeah I hope good vehicle interiors are in for ArmA. This was something that I always loved in JO, and missed badly in BF2... Bah, its amazing how 5 year old DX8 OPFR still has better looking interiors than JO, JO's vehicles really looked bad for a "new" game, but then again Far Cry's were also... poor . Vulture2k1 0 Posted August 17, 2006 I would love if they add interior animations like that in RO:Ostfront. Anyone played that? its not a game everyone likes, but switching the views of the tanks is an awesome feeling.. Ofp could even add animations for switching from Passenger to Driver seat and so on... but i think its too much work to do :X

maxqubit 1 Posted August 18, 2006 I don't get this OFP:E interior stuff? What is the problem? Visit ofpe screens, there are some interiors shots like You can't move inside but you're surely inside the vehicle. But e.g. in a tank when 'turned in' i had trouble to look outside thru the little windows, because i seemed to be too tall! and as said you can't move (down). That made driving 'turned in' in first persons view a bit difficult. (Sorry, i don't have caps of this situation). Same is true for driving a humvee, looking thru the side windows is difficult cause you are too tall ... perhaps i can select another character or something (sorry, it is been a while)
chipper 0 Posted August 18, 2006 I think they talking about when you are a tank gunner in OFP:E you can't see the inside of the tank, you just have to look down the sights all the time. While in OFPR you can see the insides of the tank.
Adamicz 3 Posted August 27, 2006 I read this czech preview from GC (http://www.nejhry.cz//preview/armed-assault-gc2006-preview.html), and author of this article said, that interiors will not be implemented. Can anybody from BI confirm that?
