meyamoti 0 Posted August 23, 2006 Another shameless bump,due to real life issues I'v had to give up modelling on the flying dutchman so instead I have asked my friend NodUnit to work on it for me,he was hesitant at first because he has quite a few others he should be working on instead but after showing a few images he gave a concrete yes on working on the ship. Do note this is the one from the POTC2 movie,not the ghost ship in real life. Should get some updates from him soon. Just posting this little useless tidbit out there. xnodunitx 0 Posted August 28, 2006 Alright,I took the images down because of a part I was working on,now that its fixed I can add images again. I would wait to post more images but I am currently working on the balconies and I'm not sure when I will be finished with them. What you see here is not the representation of the final public model,some model details will be sacrificed and replaced by textures to avoid faces being too high,naturally I'm not worried about facecount as this will be the only unit on the 'field' of its kind,or should be. Chances are very definite that public version will have less actual modelled parts as the one shown here,for instance,all of the ropes will more likely be a flat plane texture,as much as I enjoy having them as modelled parts,they can really boost the count,same with the ribs of the sides,but nothing is certain yet,though there will be no interior other than the gundeck. Should you intend to use my sailing ship prototype modelling and config for ingame use, i would recommend that you download my Tarawa ship or Japanese Naval fleet and see how it's done. These ships are more advance in scripting and config as well as 02 than my first historical ship which was the very first working ofp masted ship with cargo/cannon experiment. Not that those ships are perfect, but it will spare ya lots of hair tearing while experimenting ingame. No credit needed, my work is and will always be open source. Sorry cant be of much help, but real life sure has kept me outta ofp for some time, ( sheesh, its been 5 yrs of ofp already? So, you can simply press "w", but speed will have a dependency of the wind. The sails and flags will not turn with the wind direction, but maybe it will be possible to raise and lower the sails when you stop or when you are moving by switching between two textures for the sails. xnodunitx 0 Posted September 1, 2006 Heres an update of the Flying Dutchman,I will be gone for a bit sot his is the last update for a bit,what you see right now is NOT public version,as the face count is pretty high,it may be released as the high detail but its still in debate. Most of the ropes if not all will probably be replaced by plane 2D textures rather than be a 3D model,which will save on faces and points,another will be the railing will be more boxy rather than having the notches on the sides as they do at the moment,and so on and so forth,less round sails,the rib details on the sides will be gone,the gunports on the side possibly having 6 sides rather than the current 8,crows nests will be less round and so on.
