lwlooz 0 Posted March 3, 2006 I hate to repeat myself on the forum with every new interview being released, but why the hell is this tank almost completly white on its side http://ofp.gamepark.cz/news/pics3/ArmA_Progress_11.jpg Now I know,Im probably completly wrong about this and i bet people can find hundreds of pics to tell me better, but the whole lightning and reflection thing still feels very very wrong(Too much if you want to have it detailed). Quote[/b] ]We are aiming to implement a "simple as possible" control scheme in the game, but we still want to retain all (or almost all) of the commanding / controlling possibilities from the original title. I really really hope they rather increase the possibilites of commanding AI and dont reduce them by making it "easier".Im all for making it easier
TeRp 1 Posted March 3, 2006 hehe nice ofp.info, finally got it posted and public. And thanks to BIS for answering the questions.
JdB 151 Posted March 3, 2006 Mostly graphics (and badly done at that). Everything has an overkill of lightning on it, and for the last time, vehicles are NOT supposed to shine like that. Like it's made of glass. As I said before in private, I will wait to see what Game2 turns out to be, and skip on ArmA. I don't even need it to mod anyway. They even say so themselves, most of the stuff was already there in OFP in one form or another. Quote[/b] ]Will there be support for importing 3rd party modelling and animation tools such as MAYA, Poser etc.? Placebo told me not so long ago that there were no plans what so ever to do this The questions that were left unanswered were exactly what I (and I can imagine many modmakers with me) wanted to know. As the game will support difuse maps(?) etc. it might be that they haven't been made for that model yet or that they have been added but it's still unedited, hence it might reflect the maximum amount of light. That tank is obviously still very much WIP.
orange juice 0 Posted March 3, 2006 I quite agree with JdB´s post. This interview and the pics are not exactly exciting.
bn880 5 Posted March 3, 2006 Those screen captures look HORIBBLE. What's with the tank there, does it have radioactive armor?! Or is the sun crashing into the earth or vice versa. I have to say, kick up the ambient component and cut the crap with the directional on the camouflage paint surfaces. "The new light reflection effects" < guess what, it's a tank... brataccas 0 Posted March 3, 2006 The tanks are a bit too shiny its like a reflection of a nuke beside it lol
Mr_Tea 0 Posted March 3, 2006 I may hope to get ARMA asap, but I realy hope too, that this pic`s not taken with "final" addons. The reflections on that tank are mutch too strong. I hope this is all wip.
Lin_Chino 0 Posted March 3, 2006 ...I think all those things will be improved soon.
-Grenadier- 0 Posted March 3, 2006 I was glad to see they've improved the water. Also, CTI will be an official game mode now! However, I agree the screens didn't look that great. They were all of the same stuff we've seen in all the screenshots so far: Abrams tanks, Black Hawks, OFP-looking towns... The best one is probably the one with the LAW soldier. http://ofp.gamepark.cz/news/pics3/OFPInfoShot04.jpg It seemed like a lot of the questions were answered with "it's in development now" type answers. I'm not sure when these answers were written, but if all these features are still being developed, I wonder if a first-half of 2006 release is really possible? Colossus 2 Posted March 3, 2006 Yeah, a bit too shiny. Mat light/metal, not mirrors. But then again it's WIP Great pics and interview! Thanks OFP.Info and BIS
Guest Ti0n3r Posted March 3, 2006 About that tank. Those pics are from december '05, so they must have made some progress since then. The screens look good to me. But I think the lack of those lush forests seen on all the original islands make them look a bit empty. But as I said, They must have made some progress since then. Too bad to hear about the absence of swiming tough.. Anyways, a big thank you to Ofp.Info
hellfish6 7 Posted March 3, 2006 LAWs aren't really used anymore. They have some new versions that were created for knocking holes in walls in Iraq, but as anti-armor weapons they're largely useless. If it's a modern day game I hope they change the LAW to an M136/AT4.
svendejong 0 Posted March 3, 2006 Im happy that BIS gives this interview but wonder why they would provide screens like the 'nuclear' tank one to be released with the interview, as Im sure this is not the way it will look in the final product.

If it's a modern day game I hope they change the LAW to an M136/AT4. or a Javelin, it's always fun to see somebody use that for the first time . (for those of you that dont get it: Javelin has to be launched facing upwards, or it'l ram itself into the ground) About the graphics: stop bitching, secretly we all know ArmA will be totally overhauled within a month after release... For the same reason they showed the pics with the freaky waves, the GAME2 soldier with the buggy shadow, etc etc etc. To make us worried! (Well, thats the only reason i can think of... ) And BIS: FFS, turn some AA and AF on next time! That soldier looks really nice though!
klavan 0 Posted March 3, 2006 Too many WIPs in my opinion for ArmA to be released within q2. Klavan

Actually, it's because they want to show us that the screens are totally unedited... remember? Well, it doesn't matter to me either way, DxDll provides me with the "anime" colors of that link above .
