Amazing new fire and smoke effects by john

Christ, that was a quick reply.

I've got ECP - but I was curious, have you only added the files for the fire textures, and only a couple for the smoke? I only have John's fire files in, cause I can't stand the smoke, and mine looks a bit like that, but not exactly.

Which files did you add?

I added both of the files, the smoke helps it come out thicker like that and the explosions look simly amazing.

I'm running Llauma's sky mod, and John's effects. Is it normal that i get fluffy, realistic looking clouds? Cos I thought only smoke, fire and dust were simulated. I'm not complaining, just very pleasantly surprised smile_o.gifbiggrin_o.gifwow_o.gifthumbs-up.gif

im running with llaumas's sky pack but dont get fluffy clouds i do with Nimods clouds though.

Oh yeah I forgot to say, I run FFUR Euro mod too. Does that implement the NI Mod clouds?

If the FFUR packs use FlashFX effects then that may be why, it is pretty much another option to using the effects in ECP.

I don't think FlashFX changes the clouds, smoke, fire and dust, so perhaps John's effects do alter the clouds? thumbs-up.gif

The FFUR Euro pack uses NI Mod clouds, they appear when you fly quite high.

Don´t going to reread everything said here but i guess the issue of too fast playing explosions is still existant..

Maybe you remeber that weird Water Addon which had some kind of animated textures by simply multiplying the textures .. or something like that.

Haven´t come around trying if it works like that, but theoretically if you just double each explosion texture and it get´s played twice the whole effect should run alot smoother.

However my attemp would fail anyway, just hope that someone else can work something out from it.

that wont work.

first off it plays at a realistic speed using GMR fire n explosions

second off even if it was a serious problem, no way you would EVER fix it. gmr plays at the right speed, ecp plays too slow, ffx plays too fast. custom scripts play slow fast and in between. so you could slow the BI animation, you could double the textures you could spank a monkey in a circus but it wont make a damn bit a differnce because theres 14 billion fire and explosion scripts and none of them run at the same speed. so theres nothing you can do about that.

what we really need to do is stop looking for perfection and enjoy good enough. thats been the OFP communitys problem for years.. everyone wants perfect. it needs to do this exactly, if needs to look like that perfectly. just be happy with good enough. and this right here is as good as it gets, so learn to be happy with what you have instead of what u cant have

Awesome effects, I didn't get to download them earlier, so I'm looking for a link to the first version of the pack so I can patch it, the download link on second or third page has the patcher .exe file corrupted. sad_o.gif

i have the "updated" version there.. you dont need the orginal version. i installed only the update on my laptop patching the data pbo there and it worked flawlessly for me... so you dont need the orginal version.. the updated one works fine alone smile_o.gif

You're making an issue out of nothing. Nobody's complaining or moaning for perfection, they're merely suggesting ways of improving what they already think is an excellent piece of work wink_o.gif

I tried out the new effects just yet and I'm quite happy with them. The smoke could use some more work but the transitions are bearable now and the explosion effects are amazing.

And the NIM-mod combination is stunning, the clouds are beautiful! inlove.gif

I'm still waiting for a version that's just a tad more animated than this one, you know, to make these look good ingame and not just on screenshots.

maybe the effects could be fixed in similar way as Kegetys DXDLL?

wich means, not really changing anything in the game itself, and also making it possible to turn the effects on and of during play smile_o.gif
