Marines v1.1

Recommended Posts

This pack is instantly one of the best, most complete, well rounded infantry packs up there with HYK's and Lasers stuff! Seriously SafetyCatch, you came out of nowhere with this one, how come you just now decided to start making addons? You do some excellent work. Two things I want to comment on:

1. The MARPAT textures are spot on. Ive heard that this camo was a pain to reperesent well in OFP, but you have managed pretty damn well.

2. The NVG's are great, extremely convenient, these should pretty much become standard on all other infantry packs.

Keep up the good work man, I hope this isnt your first and last addon.

E&S marines are very good...These are next gen..all the improvements that have been made since E&S release have been incorporated into these guys.

They are the next level.

Very nice work, and a nice addition to the latest addons from Fischkopp smile_o.gif

Question: What is the difference between Marine Rifleman 1, Marine Rifleman 2 and Marine Rifleman 3?

Can't find any differences or is it too early in the morning for me to see any biggrin_o.gif

Marine 1 has his pants bloused and the straps on his gasmask bag are black. Marine 3 is the same as 1 except that his pants are not bloused and the straps on his gasmask pouch are green. Marine 2 has a brown (coyote?) flack jacket.

I really like the way the snipers change appearance when they don their NV gear nice touch. All around this is a terrific addon.

One question though, do you know if the AI can see at night with their NV goggles? I noticed they don't automatically put them on. I tried ordering some of them through the command menu to put on their goggles but then it would mess up my goggles. I could only get the first guy I ordered to put on goggles.

There are organized groups in this pack, right? Not just individual units in the editor?

I'm dling now and just wanted to check.

I've been waiting for these forever. Great job!

There are groups included yes, or at least there were in the BETAs, not had time to test the final release yet (despite helping Safety Binarize them last night).

I also have to say one thing. With all the different attempts at bringing USMC units to OFPR it's great no matter who makes them. I think a large contribution to those USMC mods never making it completely or lasting was part to the lack of people being able to sustain the projects. NX_Shadows, Fischkopp and everyone (I know I'm forgeting to mention others too) who started various USMC mods or addon shops to me just seemed overwhelmed with trying to create a lot of addons that some from the community were demanding. Put in short I think mod projects sometimes are doomed from the start simply because they are projecting to produce results that the team may not have the capacity to meet. From seeing all the USMC addons come out up till now I think a contributing factor has been they have come from different sources, i.e., PrepH: UH-1N, Fskpp: HUMMVs, CH-53s, E&S MARPATs, SC MARPATs, Vit AH-1W/Z, etc. The trend has been popular and otherwise significant addons coming from a diverse range of addon makers. Either way it adds up for great units, thanks to all you addon makers who have made the USMC presence in OFPR.

If you can see that AI has NV Goggles in "Gear" tab, then they use the NVG's but they don't lower the AN-PVS7. I think that Safety shoud have added strings for making goggles appear/disapperar and lower/raise in the readme, but unfortunatley he did not. sad_o.gif

Anyways I haven't tried the full version yet, but as we got to play around with the BETA-s and FINAL-s I'm aware what they look like, cept for the "Mysterious Triangle" everything looks great.

@Safety

I'll try to look into the "Mysterious Triangle" issue, I'll try the solution that has worked a bit more and texture it correctly when I have some time.

The porblem, in my opinion, is we have to many single addons. Diffrent looking, diffrent configs, diffrent scripts ... at all it do not match perfectly. Normally i avoid to use single addons. That´s also why i not use the FFUR. Really great work and the config stuff is balanced but it looks like a patchwork. It hurts a little bit in my eyes. That not means that the authors of the addons make a bad addon.

I really prefer the MOD´s like FDF, CSLA, BOH and BW MOD. The stuff looks unitary, the configs fir together and the modeling is great. I know that is not the place to talk about but since i started with the USMC stuff 2 years before i´ve done a lot of stuff. A lot of vehicles are on my HD and the mod makes every minute ( wink_o.gif ) a step forward.

@: Safety_Catch: Really good work. I like them. Thx.

If you want to see a unified pack which is the most realistic, donate your models or even better your modelling experience to the WGL5 project.

We have the configs, the scripting and the realism. We are slightly weak on models though.

Why dont you do what FFUR does and activly ask addon makers to use their addons, I quite like the WGLK stuff but I think its what needs to be done.
