redface 1 Posted March 24, 2005 a feud between the two Spanel brothers? or Victor Boca joined the enemy? let's hope not ... anywayz, a clear signal that BIS or Codemaster should start getting some PR for their sequel going, because anticipation is all in gaming land
stevevcb 3 Posted March 24, 2005 If it's moddable, we could be looking at OFP 1.5 there.
Acecombat 0 Posted March 24, 2005 Pfft , ive seen better explosions in ECP. Whats new in this game , which ofp doesnt have? 4 years after i would expect the competition to slaughter this oldie but unfortunately no one has. I also wonder how the handling is movement etc .. in OFP over many other games i simply like the fluidy movement that we have , no problem swiveling and looking as in some games its irritatingly difficult to do so. Blanco 0 Posted March 24, 2005 No offence but some people are imo OFP-indoctrinated or something. I have'nt seen the explosions in the next ECP version, but these ones look very good. I could be wrong, but it looks like the trees can be partly destroyed by explosions (see the 3th pic). But ok, you can't discuss a matter of taste. MrZig 0 Posted March 24, 2005 Ahh like I said, this graphics engine looks great Let's just hope it's as flexible as OFP in all ways (mission editing, mods, driving all vehicles, etc)
hellfish6 7 Posted March 24, 2005 I agree with this one, the only new thing I see are better graphics. Dude... there have only been two screenshots. Don't rush to judgement yet.
MrZig 0 Posted March 24, 2005 I agree with Hellfish6. Quote[/b] ]Don't judge a book by it's cover.
Acecombat 0 Posted March 24, 2005 OFP-indoctrinated ? Blanco , just go to ECP's thread and check their v1.075's trailer and pics and you'll see what i mean. The explosions shown in this games pics are hardly good or something one would expect from a modern day game and not 2001.
MrZig 0 Posted March 24, 2005 What are you talking about Acecombat? These explosiosn do infact look better than ECP's. They actually look pretty good IMO.
DracoPaladore 0 Posted March 24, 2005 H&D2 had dogs and birds... Sabre Squadron co-op is quite fun if you can get a group of serious players It had I don't remmember seeing them? where? STGN Dog's i'm sure of. In the Norway submarine/radar station mission there was one particular mutt that I held in great contempt. The thing would either be let out and get behind us, or when you open one of the doors in the small house it'd jump out and bite your face. Got my revenge when I dropped a grenade into the submarine when Germans were around. Out of all games I played, H&D2 grenades were for me the easiest to control. Acecombat 0 Posted March 24, 2005 What are you talking about Acecombat? These explosiosn do infact look better than ECP's. They actually look pretty good IMO. Dont think so , once again i am basing my liking here on the fact that on one hand we have a free mod working on a old engine against a new game engine with a paid staff. The difference isnt worth it for me right now. Those explosions arent that good , they look like the ones we saw in DF:BHD by novalogic.
MrZig 0 Posted March 24, 2005 Well we've yet to see an ingame movie so no one can really say whether those explosions are good or not.
Heatseeker 0 Posted March 24, 2005 Holy crap, it looks fantastic !! Those 6 new pics are awsome, just check out the detail, bmp2 and view distance, now theres a game worth upgrading hardware for, if the physics and colision detection are good, the a.i. and gameplay realistic im sold, it looks like ofp on steroids . DKM Jaguar 0 Posted March 24, 2005 There's no mention of how large the combat zone is.. could be litterally like Raven Shield... a maze.
llauma 0 Posted March 24, 2005 There's no mention of how large the combat zone is..could be litterally like Raven Shield... a maze. Â They said that each battlefield is around 100km2.. That's as big as Nogova. This game looks really promising. The graphics are truly great.. Sort of OFP but much more real and polished. No matter what the game style is like it will give BIS something to try to beat in the graphics section. Sure they can't allow another czech company to make a nicer game. da12thMonkey 1943 Posted March 25, 2005 I didn't think the first two shots looked all that great but the new ones look very nice. The lighting on the BMP is good, there's lots of vegetation about and the viewdistance gives the environment a nice crisp appearance. The colours perhaps look a bit too vibrant though, something I like about OFP is its hazyness. I'm not overly confident in how mod-able the game will be though. I can't remember Illusion giving its previous games much modding support though Mafia's the only game of theirs that I stuck with for a decent time to see how the modding community developed, and I wasn't impressed. Should be a pretty good game to play until OFP2 comes out, (If BIS make deliver something prettier than this we'll be quids in given their support of addons) Illusion deliver some very solid, challenging gameplay in singleplayer so it could be worth the money even if it's not so great to mod and fighting a war in my native countryside (England) sounds great, even though the story of the game is a bit of an old boot with the relapse of the Cold War etc.
Baphomet 0 Posted March 25, 2005 Quote[/b] ]Anybody heard of Soldner? Far Cry? Both said to be OFP killers. This thing is merely a copy of Soldner... and will be a failure.Just a prediction. Saying Soldner was a failure was an understatement. I have an open mind, however I must say this: No vection based aiming system? No chance.
pajama 0 Posted March 25, 2005 I would not mind at all if this is just a modern H&D2 as long as it has better AI and some form of MP class/weapon ristrictions.
berghoff 11 Posted March 25, 2005 Man, it looks too good to be true!Look at the interface, so similar to OFP, The way he holds his weapon, the yellow positionpointer... The is a pure clone! Yep really looks like OFP on the screenshots but what about the rest how the AI behaves in combat and such?
cozza 24 Posted March 25, 2005 gotta amid it does look good. BIS will show screens at E3 but the competition wont start till they find out it's like OFP not Battlefield
EiZei 0 Posted March 25, 2005 Man, it looks too good to be true!Look at the interface, so similar to OFP, The way he holds his weapon, the yellow positionpointer... The is a pure clone! Yep really looks like OFP on the screenshots but what about the rest how the AI behaves in combat and such? Cant say AI is OFP's strong points aswell.. If one wants to see pretty explosion I recommend playing mercenaries, its like GTA's and OFP's bastard child.
NKVD 0 Posted March 25, 2005 I didn't like huge crosshair...looks a bit arcadish... but viewdistance and forests are amazing....gj!
sputnik monroe 102 Posted March 25, 2005 Graphics to me are only 5% of the game. I want to know how many units can take part in a single mission. Great graphics with a massive view distance mean absolutely nothing If the battle only contains a tank or two and maybe 25 troops. All that said it is looking kind of neat. I'll wait until it's released though to make a final decision. I've been disappointed way too many times by games that look or sound like they'll be cool. I remember the first screenshots and news about Call of Duty. I remember thinking "wow sounds like Rogue Spear but in world war II. This will be awesome!" Turned out it was Medal Of Honor Allied Assault 2. When I heard about Brothers in Arms I though, " Finally a world war II infantry game that's realistic." from all I've read now that it's released it sounds like Medal of Honor Allied Assault 3. Soldner same thing, it sounded cool but after It came out I got the Impression that it's another counterstrike, Unreal, quake, Half life, Doom, wolfenstein clone. Basically I don't look forward to anything anymore.
redface 1 Posted March 25, 2005 well I'm willing to exchange my current for OFP for anything if it approximates its scope but also runs a lot smoother ...
NKVD 0 Posted March 25, 2005 Sputnik, Id doubt it will be like OFP1-2 but anyway it would be fun to play... Id rather play game like that instead of numerous ww2 shooters...
