Baphomet 0 Posted February 6, 2005 Quote[/b] ]Myself I don't like long range sniper fests in which your team and the enemies try to see which side can pick off each other the quickest at long range. Â That's just boring. It is boring. It's also not terribly realistic. Longer range shots take time to aim, it's not an off the hip or snap decision type affair like it is with stock BIS weapons. I equate those long range "see who can off the hip snipe someone first" fights to the same kind of lameness as rocket arena style "see who shoots one another with the most rockets or bullets in the shortest amount of time whilst circle strafing like a hobo on crack at 60 miles per hour" deals. DOA 20 Posted February 8, 2005 HELP I can't find the download links! Thanks. Got it! Download Middle East Rebels here!
miles teg 1 Posted February 13, 2005 Good News folks! I just got permission from John Rambo to unite his pack with the upcoming Lost Brothers Arab civilian/militant pack. His soldiers will either have a JR designation or will be in their own section on the mission editor but will be on the west, east, and resistance sides. However they will be equipped with JAM2 compatible weapons to include a few custom AK's and possibly a custom PKM that the good folks at ORCS had allowed us to use earlier for our Egyptian troops. While this will delay the release of the pack a little bit, it will ultimately lead to a much more comprehensive pack with more variety. In short, it will be a one stop shop for Arab civilians and militants. Newiy also is helping us out alot on getting our civillians into good shape as a few of them needed some new shirts. At any rate, I think this pack will have enough variety to satisify everyone. The only thing it will be lacking are chechnyan style militants. However for that I highly recommend the militants found in the DKM/VIT APC pack as they even have custom voices and everything so are well suited for Chechnyan missions. Currently Calm Terror is really busy getting a Iran/Iraq map up to date, but soon I'll be posting some screenshots of that map. But as soon as Newiy is done fixing up the civilians, Calm Terror (or if I have time myself) will start integrating JR's units into our pack. It will be a self contained pack aside from the JAM2 requirement. Units will also have both regular and HD squads for maximum versatility. Later on, whenever I get some Arabic voices recorded, we'll update them with custom voices as well. If anyone on the forum speaks arabic and can record some voices let me know. But if not I'll see if I can find someone where I live to volunteer to record a few phrases. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>

miles teg 1 Posted February 13, 2005 Shokran! Do you have a microphone for your PC? That's all you'll need. Windows Media Recorder will work (although if you know how to convert .wav to .mp3 that would be even better). I can also send you links to some freeware audio recording programs. I'll PM you my YIM and MSN contact info and the phrases I was thinking of using (different ones for civilians and militants of coarse). I may also have a friend of mine from Oman and maybe one from Kuwait record a few phrases just to have some variety (so all the voices don't sound the same) although if you can do different Arabic accents that would be very cool. Oh also...if you know anyone who speaks Farsi let me know because LoBo is in the process of making an Iranian pack as well. The effort is being spearheaded by Ironsight (when he's not busy with his primary mod:Bushfires Mod) with assistance from LoBo. So far that's going well and will make for some great adversaries for the IM:UC Mod's Iraqi troops. We're also doing an Iran/Iraq map that is getting close to a Beta stage. So LoBo is really humming along with great stuff coming soon. Thanks again for the help on this thunderbird! It is much appreciated! miles teg 1 Posted February 14, 2005 Yeah, no shit, but when you follow someone else's post about working on these same addons its not clear who you are referring to. A simple answer of "JR" would have sufficed. At any rate, we'll be fixing up his Middle East fighters with a pistol proxy, custom voices, ect... Plus once the pack is released, if anyone wants to improve the pack, if they send us the improvements we can incorporate them into an official update as long as the "improvement" isn't anything too wierd or anything that screws up the original models. New models for example would just be added as extra units and not replace the older models unless they were significantly improved. Alterations to J.R.'s model for example I would check with him first if it replaced his original units. That's why right now we're just fixing issues with his model like the missing pistol proxy and removing the American flag from the jacket as no Middle East militant would be caught dead wearing a jacket with an American flag unless they are some kind of pro-American militant group or wore it as a war trophy... except that the US military mainly uses Gortex jackets these days. But then again I'm not sure what they are issuing now as standard issue. I only know that at least in my old unit most people replaced their field jackets with Gortex field jackets. Anyways, regardless I think most militants would remove that US flag. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
bucket man 2 Posted February 14, 2005 I already removed the US flag so that they fit in fighting against the soviets in Afganistan for example. Its really ease to do in Photoshop. All you need is clone stamp tool!
Hit_Sqd_Ack 0 Posted February 17, 2005 And was not dependant on other Addons. I did not have time to read all 94 posts but I believe your statement to be incorrect. I am one of the server admins for Fraghaus Servers and we recently uploaded this to our servers. They run fine in coop and they look great but when we switch maps to a CTI it is displaying a "groups.pbo" not found error. I researched this and the soldiers do pull a "groups.pbo" from this troops pack and it was not attached to this addon. (I think that JohnRambo might have based these troops off of someone elses models that pulled to a groups.pbo and that is why we have the error. I know I had a similar problem once when I was toying around with Tonali; but that was a world not an addon.) Has anyone else had this problem? Has anyone seen a fix for this? If so please let me know before I have to pull them of the servers. Any help will be greatly appreciated, thank you for your time. - Hit_Sqd_Ack [FHA] http://www.fraghaus.com/forums/
theavonlady 2 Posted February 17, 2005 There were always "groups" errors with many of UCE's addons, including similar ME units.
h - 169 Posted February 17, 2005 This is what causes the 'missing groups' problem... In the config (which is very poorly written, like Killswitch already pointed out somewhere...) there's an addon defined called groups, just like some of the UCE adds have... <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">class CfgPatches { class Groups { units[] = {}; weapons[] = {}; requiredVersion = 1.10; }; Remove that from the config and the groups prob should go away... Of course all missions using this addon would then need to have their mission.sqms 'cleaned' too...

miles teg 1 Posted February 18, 2005 Likewise we we're porting this over to the LoBo Arab Civilian/Militant pack, we'll make sure not include that part of the config. Thanks for the info. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
