@WackyIraqi

That is this UH-1N, its just the way the light catches on the helo that makes it look desert colour.  rock.gif

Oh i forgot, my helo sounds just like the normal helo sound and nothing differant. It's just somebody posted about the sound being good when i can't tell the diferance crazy_o.gif

The tail rotor often varries if its new one or an old bird that been refurbished its on the left side if its a old one its on the right. Literly something to do with unit production numbers who made her, which facility and when. Eventually all the newer helos its on the right side for the newer and on the left for the old UH1Ns. Kinda weird is the pilot doesn't float in his seat, but noticed nobody ever sits in the co-pilots seat. (if your sitting in the pilots seat)

Bell figured out in the late 80s on the hueys moving the tail rotor to the other side of the boom granted a fair advantage and became a bit more reliable less failure issues, as they were seeing what could be corrected on the airframes to exstend the life spans seeing they still couldn't produce enough Blackhawks to fill the demand. The huey lacked in muscle it made up for in size. Being able to fit places better than the Blackhawk

So if this bird is a current day bird leave the tail rotor on that side.

This bird the Marines have been using since the Viet Nam war a lot of them were used durring the time and still in operation as the UN1Y is moving to replace them, funny is its often the old N model sent back to Bell to be refurbished to the Y version. They try to speed things up adding some of the newer parts just cause they run low on supplies on the nwer parts. The rotor assembly is easy to rotate seeing its shaft driven takes about an hour to switch sides, usualy its pilots perferance with his ground crews. One of the reasons you can walk the flightline and see like a bunch one side another bunch the other side.

As far as the CH46 & 53, hell a year ago couldn't give it away, seeing all it needed was textures installed. More annoyed cause Blackdog, fully knows about the birds, it was pretty much a poke in my eye and I got highly bent out of shape. That and on a thread about a totally differnt helo.

Now at this point, Bobcat, you are probably expecting a bunch of addon junkies to all post saying; "oh, no, plaese, master! release what you have done! We'll be good! We'll flame anyone who derides your work!"

Sorry, not my style.

If you're going to release it, release it. If not why bother bringing it up?

Unquote

As far as your opion about that, its an opion, and just your oppion. If you failed to not get the point of my moaning, then I can explain it to you more slowly and clearly in PM.

Yeah I'm a mean bitter bastard, comes with being an actual NCO in the real Armed forces. Best take in what ever information that best be helpful seeing I have real life experiance with alot of the militarys equipment.

To be honest I chearfully release these badboys just to spite people, just cause thats how I am, but, unskined nakid addons even if Marines do use grey paint really wouldn't cut it in the OFP world. =P

Many seveal attempts to give them to other mods, failed they just sat on the addon never released it. Or closed shop for OFP1 for what ever reason, and kept the completed unit.

But as usaul yet another person misenterpits the overall gist of my statment. go9 back and really read it, if not i'll better explain in pm. =p

I like this bird, it is nice to have a modern huey to use.

Respect to Prep H for doing a good work. There is some small bugs, but the community seems to take care of them.

Would be nice to have the pilot position fix merged with the fixes Lupus[WD] made to the lightning and normals. smile_o.gif

I really wouldnt release my modifications of the uh1n without proper authorization, but i have also fixed the pilot position and the scale of the helo as compared to humans, just to see how it feels to play ofp with something else than a gigantic helicopter :P

Nice bird, spent a little time fixing the face issue, then went town with some decent air assault missions. as this quickly replaced the reskined CAf UH1N I was using.

Managed to just bearly take down a Ka50 with the KA60 that it was escorting. The normal problem of the pilot not facing the bird in positions so the gunner can't engage enemy targets because its on the other side, I fixed that problem.

Goes well with the CH46, and CH53 in missions now where they are too large for LZs and the CAF UH1N is so fast they crash into the other helos 90% of the time in assault missions.

Good bird, still non the less I'm happy with it..

the Caf Bell 412 is closer to its brother the UH-1Y than the UH-1N rock.gif , still its an useful piece of kit, oh and blackdog if u want a CH46, buy VBS1 tounge_o.gif

I live in the USA where it was originally intended to be used, and where I do not have access to the USMC "Module" aka addon pack. I have some choice words to say about VBS1, but I would rather not say them here. smile_o.gif

Bobcatt I understand where you are coming from. Tigershark (of one of those mods that closed up shop of course) had some good walkaround photos of the H-46 but they aren't up anymore, otherwise I'd gladly help out with it.

Yeah walked the flightline where was 8 of these sitting, 6 had the rotor on one side 2 didn't.

Crap had tweaked them enough to make a pack of them and just overwrote the my moded versions by accident.

Well news from the Preperation H crew makes mention that they have reconsidered the UH1N and are now are still working on the addon, its being fixed and a new version 1.1 is due out shortly.

@WackyIraqi If you have not been contacted by them I suggest you wait till things touch base before releasing anything maybe give them help. so things don't get crazy in situations like this where... This is _not_ abandonware now..

Thank you Bobcat! You're great! wink_o.gif

Hi guys,

this is my first post in this forum...I decided to register after the many comments my addon received. I want to thank you all! I've received a very positive feedback (really unexpected) and many constructive ideas to improve the UH-1N.

I know I wrote I had no plans about further releases, but I noticed this addons could be very useful, so I decided to continue working and to release some updates.

Just after reading your bug reports and your ideas I started my work...here's a list of all the improvements and bug fixes I've completed:

- real USMC fonts

- tail rotor has been placed in the right side and now it rotates clockwise to balance the counter-clockwise movement of the main rotor

- clan sign and BIS sign removed

- extended nose

- HOVERING PILOT FIXED

- hovering gunner fixed

- now the chopper projects a shadow

However, I have 2 questions:

- How can I fix the lightning problem of the doors? I tried to smooth and sharpe edges but I can't obtain some remarkable results.

- Does the model need to be scaled down?

Furthermore, I'm working on the M134 version...I have implemented the gun and the barrel-rotation script in another addon, so I have only to adjust textures and 3D model of the minigun.

Another good news: I'm in contact with TheMarshal from ICM - Intel Combat Marines, 'cause they were interested in my helicopter. I know they're working to implement rappel script, realistic startup script and random side numbers on my model. I don't know if our projects will merge in future, but it could be a great thing!

The M134 should take some time but I'll try (and I hope) to release the 1.1 version ASAP!

Bye guys, and thanks again for your positive and constructive comments!

PS: ehm, I know my english is not perfect...mmm...I should work on 1.1 version even in my foreign language abilities!

Wow...all those fixes sound fantastic.  As for the size... one thing I noticed was that in that pic someone posted that humvee model seemed too big.  I don't think that was the best vehicle to make a size comparison to.   Personally I think that the scale is fine.   But if you adjust the scale just make sure its done against something that is regarded as accurate because many of the BIS addons (and other addons) are not very accurate to scale. The best choice is just to use a soldier (with his rifle on his back) and compare him to pictures of the UH-1N with soldiers around it.   If it looks close enough that should be fine.   This was a big problem with Adammo's/Scorpio's CH-53.  It was very hard to get the scale right.  I had many long conversations with Scorpio about that as he struggled to get it where it looked fairly close.  Its still not perfect, but at least its much better then early betas I tested that were way too big.

But at any rate, I think the scale of your UH-1N is fairly close.

I'm also VERY happy that you're putting in a minigun.  As the main type of door gun of the UH-1N that is so important.  Plus its just a lot more effective in OFP because it spits out more bullet and allows for a player to saturate an area with bullets much more effectively then with a normal MG.

That's also a pleasant surprise that you're fixing the nose.  That nose is difficult to fix (I tried it on my mod's UH-1N and didn't have much luck) so I'm really happy you were able to do it!

Thanks again for all the hard work on this helicopter!  I look forward to the update!

Quote[/b] ]Thanks again for all the hard work on this helicopter!

Thank YOU for your appreciation!

Yesterday, I tried to compare my addon with the original UH-1H (not the SF version I modified...the Dustoff version) and noticed that my chopper it's the same, so I don't think it needs to be scaled down. Anyway, I'm looking for some pictures of the real helo to decide what to do.

No problem Firefly, you'll have the unarmed version... wink_o.gif

Thank you Agent Smith...I'll contact Lupus!
