Triglav 0 Posted January 3, 2005 Looks interesting. But get those Armstrongs out of there. These huge heavy guns were only emplaced in batteries of forts, not dragged out on the field. Â Try Popka's emplacement from page 10 here.

miniroll 0 Posted January 3, 2005 Hi This is great I am curently making a multiplayer mission for this Civil War mod. Can someone tell me what the name of the Confederate flag is for use with the flag pole? this setflagtexture etc... Thanks Neal
Sepe 1 Posted January 3, 2005 I don't think there is an official confederate flag. I'm not sure tho. If there doesn't happen to be one, just put a picture of the flag into your mission folder and name it... say rebel.jpg and then, when you go to the mission editor, make a flag and init [this setflagtexture "rebel.jpg";] or something like that. Damnit, we need a Gettysburg A&D, a Coop to simulate artillery fire and stuff like that. Now, anyone cares to have some more RP-like Civil War playing? That would be soo cool. Wait a second... A Good, Bad and Ugly coop! That's a great movie by the way, thou i still don't get how's that one guy so "good" then, and why is the one "ugly", as IMO none of them is that beautiful. combat-agent 0 Posted January 3, 2005 Yes there is a US flag and a Confederate flag that comes with the mod. The Confederate is this this setFlagTexture "\cwflags\csa.pac" and the US us this setFlagTexture "\cwflags\us.pac" The American flag flies backwards, this was overlooked for some reason, but will definetly be fixed in the next release. Just use the BIS one for now. And Miles Teg excellent job on the mission. The music and the cut scenes were great. There was a few things that should of been diffrent but I understand your position and not going to bother posting them. Great job it was a real entertaining mission. Looking forward to some more. Sepe 1 Posted January 3, 2005 Yepper, great mission Miles! But i don't understand why did you make the player be an officer and still number 12? Also, all the ranks seem to be private. But that intro was GREAT, and the overall athmosphere was no worse. And it doesn't bother me that the sides are visa versa, i just didn't think the city as Gettysburg. By the way, i'm currently building a mission too, though it will be less of a massive battle, and not a historical one either. Actually, it is more like modern warfare in 1800's enviroment and equipment. You'll see it then, propably today. EDIT: Here it is! Download link Very unprofessional crap, yes. Also note that my bandwith is limited, if someone would like to mirror it, feel free. My first scripted intro by the way, and also my first mission i share with the public. EDIT2: Thanks placebo, should be working now.
Placebo 29 Posted January 3, 2005 Remote linking doesn't work, try using one of the temporary mirrors in my signature
Triglav 0 Posted January 3, 2005 The American flag flies backwards, this was overlooked for some reason, but will definetly be fixed in the next release. Nay. The flag in that folder is the texture for the flag for the flagbearer. We have not included a flag for the editor in the mod.
miles teg 1 Posted January 3, 2005 Yeah on my mission I forgot to adjust the ranks. I actually had a detailed briefing explaining why the player was an officer, but the stupid overview/briefing generator program I used somehow copied the overview section into the briefing. Basically you are a new Lt. attached to the 6th Wisconsin as an assistant CO to the company. I just tried your mission.  Its cool assassination mission!  Not bad. The cutscene intro was descent.  Once you mess about with scripting more, what I would recommend is to make it where when you sleep, instead of ending, it goes into a cutscene with accelerated time (or skip time) maybe showing the player in a animation showing him laying down.  Then at sunrise have him join a group of confederates to assault that camp with the end trigger set to "west" and "not present" covering the area around the camp so that it ends when the union soldiers are all dead.  Right now its an interesting mission, but not too terribly difficult if you attack from another direction.  What I did was run up to the Tavern and attacked from the West carefully bypassing the guards until I got  a clear shot of the officer.  After shooting him I hightailed it back to the Tavern and then back South to the camp.  The enemy only got off one shot at me and missed. Overall good mission!  Keep up the great work! Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
Tomislav 0 Posted January 3, 2005 could you make the flag waving
Sepe 1 Posted January 3, 2005 Thanks Miles. Maybe i should make a "Sharper's Morning" where you start from your tent and the assault begins? And my tactic was to run up to the tavern, then carefully jog on the road and turn right when you have passed McPherson's. Then, there's a nice bush to shoot from. I could also make an update to use some scripts so that they come after you and something. Also, because there is no groups to make the placing look better, the AI are sometimes very dumb. combat-agent 0 Posted January 3, 2005 Thats what i thought about the US flag deal. But the Confederate flag does look fine in game.
Sepe 1 Posted January 3, 2005 Yep, as you can turn it as you like and it's still the same. Southern people indeed are more clever. And this is a norhern european's opinion.
Triglav 0 Posted January 3, 2005 Does creating a mirrored flag mean more clever? Or did the northerners with the asymetric one display more of an artistic approach, therefore being mroe clever themselves? And besides. Say hypothetically that the "clever" guy who invented the southern flag moved up north. Would his children be born less clever, because they were born in the north? I though we Europeans were more clever anyway? I mean we have been clever enough to be killing each other all throughout history. Americans only did it in one Civil War. They're not very clever at all. They should clearly see the numerous advantages killing one another brings. Ah, here comes nice mr. doctor with my medicine now. Hi folks, i take this as friendly banter, the last thing i like to see in this thread is political b.s. "Live and let live, i hear some folks say.Would be much less to bother if more folks took it to heart" (unnamed confederate prisoner in "Gettysburg")
Sepe 1 Posted January 4, 2005 Okay. My meaning was not to insult any northern people or anyone. It was actually just a joke.

Umm.. Wait a second. The US Civil war ended 1863 or 1864, right? If you have lost a daughter or a son in that war, you must be more than 140 years old? Strange.
