The US-Civil War, OFP, REAL music from the seventies.
  1. It is just a little more then 18 month since i was infected with that gun virus, so my arsenal is still somewhat limited. cal.58 Musket, Enfield Navy, Model 1858 cal.44 Remington sixshooter, Model New Army (percussion also) SigSauer P226 9mm, The .45 is a CZ97 B. Still sits at my dealers place, waiting for the paperwork to get through. (Where would we germans be without tons of paperwork ?) Â
  2. Well, i've been checking on you guys from time to time. Now that AA has been mentioned, i strongly recommend at least another month or so before you consider buying it. Unless your rig is really state of the art, that is. The last update, 1.05 i think, fixed a lot of things but still its not what you were used to (OFP)performance wise. I got mine right after they started selling it in Germany, but only started looking deeper into it after the last upgrade was released. Just could not stand the lack of performance, sickly flight controls and low solution settings. One major concern is the grass, nice at it is, it still obscures the view a lot more than the real thing, so i got my ass shot a lot faster and more often then in OFP. Hey Tsala, how was the hunting season in the red man's territory ? Got any meat, or at least a few yanks ? (my piggy bank goes pregnant with a .45 as of late) Godspeed, Pickett
  3. That's exactly what i have been telling all along. During the early stages of this mod i ran extensiv tests in comparison to BIS and several others and posted the results. For some reason everybody believed that only more LODS make for better performance, that's clearly not so. One of those reasons were the ridiculous statements that a certain individual posted over and over again without ever proving anything. Nice to hear that Trig did ok after all. Oh, one other thing. There have been countless posts about the accuracy of our muskets. After a year of training with more then 2000 shots fired from a caliber .58 Enfield i tell you that every single weapon we created is still much too accurate. Hitting a soccer ball size target at 100 yards is a challenge. Standing up, that is, from a prone position its fairly easy to do. Have fun and godspeed Pickett
  4. Well, as you probably don't know, making those guns for OFP got me so interested that i took up blackpowder shooting even before i retired from the mod. Believe me, those muskets are as accurate as their real life counterparts. I went through several pounds of powder before i was able to hit a 10 inch target at 50 yards, not to mention the same target at 100 yards. Hard to hit, even lying prone in a marksmans position, the belt around the upper left arm. Back then, only several men firing a volley could hope to hit anything but air at the average fighting distance of 60 to 80 yards. After all: Its just a game ! Enjoy the mod. Godspeed
  5. You can get real live LeMats these days?? Â Last one I saw cost an arm, a leg, another arm and maybe a foot. Downloading the mod now . Yep, Pietta in Italy started making them to the original drawings in mid nineties. Thanks to Val Forgett (Her wrote the book on LeMat and his gun) They come in three versions, Cavlary, Navy, Army. All cal .44/69, best price is somewhere around 650 US$. About average for a decent blackpowder revolver. Not exactly what first notch target shooters go for, but the ones i tried shot well enough to impress me. Besides, after a full load, the other guys buy you drinks so you leave the range and they can see their targets again.
  6. Hey D-cow, almost done breaking in my new cal.58 Enfield.Too bad we could not make you feel the recoil in OFP. Ordered a real LeMat a few days ago. As much fun as it was making them as addons, shooting them for real beats fiddling with oxygen any time  Thanks to all of you for a good time, but it was time for me to move on to other things. Have fun with the new stuff, i will give it a good look myself after i'm done cleaning my toys. Godspeed, Pickett
  7. It's been a while since i last posted, but i'm still here, still making things and goodies, feeding them to Triglav. Things have been going slow since i developed a taste for shooting muzzleloading rifles, something not easily accomplished in Germany, but its done now and i will give special attention to any comments on accuracy of CivilWar area weapons from now on. Â A new map of the Shiloh battlefield is in the planning, but it will take some time and field research before its released. That's what i'm going to do in the next weeks, go there and take a zillion pictures, hunt down any map i can lay my hands on and try to get a feeling for the terrain. Tsala, try to stay clear of the road while i'm driving around in your area, i'm not used to slow down for bushwhackers. Godspeed, Pickett
  8. This is really sad. I admire his work a lot, he had the rare gift talking history without taking side or offending anybody. His broad perspective on the issiue as well as his ability to point out the often (deliberately) overlooked facts puts him in line with Bruce Catton. Nobody studying the war between the states should bypass his books. May he rest in peace, for he did the world great service. Godspeed, Pickett
  9. Triglav Had'nt you better post some pics of the intended work here before actually doing it ? I mean, to have them approved by somebody who knows about such things ? Tststststs, you're not supposed to step out of rank here. Gavin i really fear for your state of mind reading such things. Don't overwork yourself.
  10. I see, you're an expert in islands too now. I was wondering when you would expand your expertise into that field as well. Truly a gifted man you are, that i have to admit. To cut this short, is there a field where you don't consider yourself the leading capacity ? Maybe i can hide in that niche, a stoneage mod ? Or have you already clubs and fur-texture patented ? to the real world.
  11. I very well may be the oldest person in this, that still does not mean i'm suffering from Alzheimer's. The only things that have been introduced by a certain person were the frequent postponements of promised schedules and the implementation of "delay by posting screenies" tactics. This is about a mod, that means usable stuff to make missions with, not just a team-name with ever bigger promises. Speaking of a team here, not a particular good place for persons that don't even get along with themselves, beeing unable to decide what to finish first and  expanding the task further everyday instead. Godspeed, Pickett
  12. Glad you liked it. But with all due respect for an fellow addonmaker, i do not think it is up to you to comment on whom i give credit for his work, unless you are the one and left out unjustly. Godspeed, Pickett
  13. Sorry Gavin, not at the moment, Brooks, the falla doing the animation is taking a break and i cannot give you anything to texture untill he says the moving parts (selections for that matter) are ok. Means infantry duty for some indefinite time, unless somebody tells me the model can be textured regardless the selections. Pickett P.S. I contacted the FDF chaps about their horse shown on their page, but they choose not to answer, so i'm lost as what to think of that.
  14. Can anybody bring me up to speed regarding custom formations, (marching lines etc.) without having to look for hours ? Would be greatly appreciated Please pm or em me. Godspeed, Pickett
  15. It's not about imagination, i did four years of service during the late seventies, the last two as a small weapons instructor. The hand behind the back is about balance, not just a noble gesture. Pickett
