I thought after building a new system, (at the time pretty high end, then came dual core P4 and nVidia 7800) that I would be able to max out OFP. No such luck..did get a big improvement though, battlefields mission ran much better...hehe.

Abit Fatal1TY AA8XE (overclocked)

800mhz FSB, PCI-X, Game Accelerator in BIOS, Dual OTES RAM/CPU Cooling Fans.

(Can go to 1066FSB with Pentium Extreme...Extreme$$$ )

Intel Prescott 630 P4 3.0ghz w/2mb cache (LGA775).

2x 512mb(1gb) Kingston DIMM PC4200/533mhz DDR2 in Dual Channel Symetric Mode.

eVga nVidia 6800gt 256mb DDR3 PCIexpress (overclocked).

on board sound Realtek 7.1 (using Logitec 2.1 speakes).

Maxtor 160gb SATA HD.

Liteon 16x +/- Dual Layer DVD.

X/Blade case w/Antec 500w PS.

Microsoft Precision Pro USB Joystick.

Viewsonic E70f 17" monitor.

There dosen't seem to be an nVidia profile for Flashponit, does anyone have optimized video settings they can post? Or any upgrade suggesttions.

Thanks!

2GB Corsair 3200 Ram

1 80 GB HD

1 100 GB HD

1 250 GB HD

Geforce 7900 GT

Windows XP SP2

Somehow I can still run OFP at 5 frames per second smile_o.gif

By the way, if anyone needs a Nvidia 5600 PCI Video card or Ati X600 PCI-E, I'll be happy to give away the 5600 and sell the X600 for mucho cheap ($40).

AMD prices just dropped by 50% so this is the time to upgrade. It does make sense to buy one last AMD processor before switching to Intel.

Just building on Albert's point - it may be wise to hold off on getting a new GFX card until DX10 (MS Vista) makes an appearance - from what I read out there, it is likely that DX10 is using a different GFX architecture, especially as far as eye candy such as physics and shaders are concerned, meaning all current GFX cards will have to run in DX9-compatible mode.

And as much as I hate to boast, I've just begun the process of updating...

I currently have now (new parts in bold):

3.4GHz P4 OC'd to 3.91GHz

750W ThermalTake ToughPower PSU

2GB Corsair DDR2 (667)

ASUS P5AD2E Deluxe

ASUS (NVidia) 6800GTO - the Achilles heel, right now.

Creative SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS

Western Digital Raptor 10,000RPM HD

DVD RW, 3.5", etc etc.

Heh heh heh!

ASUS (NVidia) 6800GTO - weak point.

Creative SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS

Western Digital Raptor 10,000RPM HD (36GB) 8MB Cache

Western Digital Raptor 10,000RPM HD (150GB) 16MB Cache

Get VapoChills gascooling, and you'll be able to push that CPU to 4,25Ghz (approx)

True that? I'm fairly chuffed I can get it to what it is on stock cooling, and it never even peaks above 70 degrees (and that's in a bloody hot Aussie summer!wink_o.gif In winter it runs at about 61.

Hahaha, run them until they're cooked... well, that's at least what happened to my old PSU, anyway. The RAM, GPU and mobo will probably be donated to the meagre efforts of my brother to build a decent system. biggrin_o.gif

Hmm.. I wonder if 15Ghz would be properly cooled by liquid oxygen...

Or nitrogen, the one that's colder tounge2.gif

Anyways, is this thread producing a result, or is it going to be a endless thread about bragging with our comps?

Not a hope in hell that I'm not getting Vista.

Memory-eating? When you can use that USB function to ADD additional RAM to your machine? Heck, the number of 2GB USBs and USB ports I have theoretically means I can have 10GB of RAM on my machine.

Plus I'd take ME over XP anyday, damn XP and its 512MB memory use limiting. Vista is far more optimised for gaming, or so MS says. That said, who'd believe them? tounge2.gif
