bn880 5 Posted August 19, 2004 Okay Mr. Smart Guy. Reality of forgetting what the Olympics are about, pardon me. nah I meant reality that nothing in life is free. Then you are talking about a strawman again. Because I did not say it should be free, but it should obviously be much cheaper. And the Security Olympics does not help. quicksand 0 Posted August 21, 2004 Iraqi Iraq rides into semi-finals after 1-0 win over Australia football journey continues Quote[/b] ] ATHENS : War-weary Iraq's dream run in the Olympic football tournament carried them into the semi-finals after a spectacular overhead kick by Emad Mohammed gave his team a 1-0 win over Australia.Mohammed's 64th minute goal came after Australia failed to clear a cross, with the striker kicking the ball over his shoulder and to the left of goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic's oustretched left hand. Seven minutes earlier Iraqi goalkeeper Nour Sabri kept his team in the game with an equally exciting piece of play, doubling back to punch the ball off the line after Australia's John Aloisi had delicately lobbed it over his head. Australia had plenty of other chances in the second half, including a strike by acting captain Luke Wilkshire from 25 yards out that beat Sabri only to hit the cross bar. But without the suspended trio of regular skipper Craig Moore, Tim Cahill and Ahmad Elrich, the Aussies lacked the punch to make the most of their opportunities. The win extends the Iraqi football team's emotional charge towards a second-ever Olympic medal for their war-torn country, with Abdul Wahid Aziz's weightlifting bronze in Rome in 1960 remaining Iraq's only podium effort. After having to struggle just to get to Athens because of the troubles in their homeland, the Iraqi team's success has been one of the feel-good stories of the Olympics. Iraq upset Portugal 4-2 and Costa Rica 2-0 on their way to the quarter-finals, and FIFA President Sepp Blatter was at Pankritio Stadium in Crete to watch the match against Australia. Iraq, guided by experienced coach Adnan Hamd, will play the winner of the match between Paruguay and South Korea, which will kick off later Saturday at Salonika. Who wants to bet Bush will use them in another add or speech if they win a medal despite their outcry against it.

Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted August 22, 2004 I couldnt believe what I saw yesterday. The "bad loosers" french team whined and complained about the german gold medal so it was finally taken away from our team. NOOOOOOOOOOOO the reason was NOT doping, the reason was NOT cheating, neither was the reason bad behaviour. NO the reason was that the greek watch didnt work correctly (counted backward), and it was misinterpreted by the german sportslady. YOU FRENCH ARE BAD LOOSERS, SHAME ON YOU!!! There is little to be proud about this parasite medal you stole!
ran 0 Posted August 22, 2004 I couldnt believe what I saw yesterday. ? YOUR RIDER PASSED TWICE INFRONT OF THE FUCKING WATCH ! IT A BEGINNER'S FAULT AND A BEGINNER WOULD HAVE BEEN KICKED OUT FOR THAT. YOU ARE THE SORE LOOSERS FOR STARTING A COMMISSION RIGHT AFTER THE EVENT TO CLAIM THE GOLD ! The thing is : your rider passed twice infront of the chrono photocell, even the youngest jockeys know that they should avoid that at any price. The rules say that such a fault should disqualify the rider comitting it. But because germans are influent in the Horse Riding Federation, a commission has been started, a commission which had no power and no right to play around with the olympic judge's decision as they are the only one along with the olympic comittee who have the right to change the issue of an event. The judges first gave us the gold but then your commission took it away from us, the gold is now just back in its right full owners' hands. YOU ARE THE ONES WHO HAVE TRIED TO PARASITE A MEDAL BY NOT RESPECTING THE RULES. THE FAME OF YOUR RIDERS AND THE POWER OF YOUR FEDERATION DOESN'T ALLOW YOU TO CHANGE THE RULES AND TO ATTRIBUTE THE MEALS BY YOURSELVES. That's also the spirit of the olympics : you play by the rules or you loose and get out. You damned krauts tried to mess around with the rules to your advantage. The French team hasn't been the only one to complain as most of the other riders felt the same toward the germans who failed to recognize their fault. The excuse of the greek watch not working properly is lame, I don't know where you got it, but it's bullshit. -edit- all that in the olympic spirit naturally

Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted August 22, 2004 Yes... and strangely enough this watch was suddenly counting backward... yeah blame that on our team! Secondly ... time wise they were simpyl better ... whether you like it or not! Passing the starting line twice does not mean an advantage. If such a mistake happens then the rider usually reacts but this time watch did not indicate it. You got the medals, we were faster ... with or without this silly mistake. You insist on this silly detail (which didnt influence the race AT ALL). And everyone knows we remain the strongest nation d'equitation du monde. THis doesnt mean another war but if in the future  I see a horse that speeks french I will call the butcher. Isnt it strange to have a gold medal for not being the fastest? The french team dropped the stupid fence twice whereas the german horses didnt touch a single one.... so you say that not touching a line twice is more important than being capable to master the course? Funny man! Okay france, well done, your riders suck but you are capable to not passing a line twice. Congratulations! Here you have the 2 german gold medals! SUCKERS Maybe in the future we should call it the pass-the-line-once-championship! (hey ran  )
Guest Posted August 22, 2004 I think the worse one is Korea getting ripped off a gold medal in the Men's Gymnastics because the officials can't do Maths
ran 0 Posted August 22, 2004 I just want to add that the first to fill an appeal against the decision of giving the gold to the germans were the brits. Rules are rules, you have to play by them wether you like it or not. Sure it advantages us this time... You were faster but your rider fucked up (involuntarily naturally but still she fucked up). erm .... And throwing all the blame for the result of this controversy on the french is simply retarded. Ask Leslie Shaw if she didn't have any interest in the appeal the British federation made .... The rules are the same for EVERYBODY, admit it or else you are the sore loosers. Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted August 22, 2004 And I have 8 posts more than you! Â Leone... I dont remember that incident with the "Corean". I onyl remember the swimming event. First the american complains about an asian swimmer, then on the next day he gets disqualified himself... leaving the franco-german incident aside, there is a lot of strange things happening this year. Lots of politics and lots of strangely surprising result. American swimmers for example break records by seconds. Records that were valid for Years. On german TV they say that the Athens olympics have already gotten a second bitter flavour. Too much doping...too little controls..too much politics (and I am not talking about the horse-races)
Ex-RoNiN 0 Posted August 22, 2004 Albert, just shut up and accept that your horse team fucked up bigtime Stop blaming our watches We had watches when you were still hanging from the trees Seriously though - if the rider is stupid enough to pass the starting line twice, its automatic disqualification. End of story.

ralphwiggum 6 Posted August 22, 2004 Stop blaming our watches We had watches when you were still hanging from the trees ROFLMAO! Albert, the incident about Korea: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2004....ex.html Quote[/b] ]ATHENS (Reuters) -- South Korea are waiting to gather video evidence before lodging an appeal with sport's supreme legal body over scoring errors at the Olympic gymnastics competition which robbed Yang Tae-young of a gold medal."We will file our case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) either today or tomorrow. Our lawyers are preparing the case right now," a South Korean delegation official in Athens told Reuters. Paul Hamm, who became the first American man to win the Olympic all-round title, should not have been awarded the gold, the governing body of gymnastics (FIG) ruled on Saturday. But Hamm would keep his medal despite a scoring error which robbed bronze medallist Yang of the title, the FIG said. It suspended three judges, including an American. However, a CAS spokesman said the court did not normally adjudicate on disputes over a scoring issue: "CAS practice is quite clear. It refuses to enter into a scoring dispute unless there's been a case of bribery and this is not the case regarding the gymnastics dispute," he said. "But we will look at the case once it is filed." The FIG admitted Yang had been unfairly docked a tenth of a point from his parallel bars routine during the all-round final, which left Hamm claiming the crown with a score of 57.823. Yang finished third on 57.774. However, had Yang been credited with the correct difficulty score, the South Korean would have finished with a total of 57.874, 0.051 of a point ahead of his American rival. Without the mistake, Hamm would have earned silver and Yang's team mate Kim Dae-eun would also have dropped a place to bronze. According to the rules of the federation, competitors can query the start value of a performance but it must be made no later than one rotation after the routine in question. FIG said the South Koreans failed to lodge a protest in time. However, the South Koreans state they noticed the error immediately but were asked to file their complaint after the competition had ended. Despite CAS's reaction, the South Korean official added: "We are not just talking about a scoring error here. It's not as clear cut as that. The FIG have admitted their mistake and we want our athlete to get what he deserves." The Americans were unavailable for comment.

End of story. pah.. did you people watch it? It wasnt a line it was a stupid little tree that was considered as a starting line and yes during a horsejumping competition it can happen that you ride a loop to give the horse more time to accelerate. You greeks might know alot about watches but not about horseriding competitions. However I, Albert Schweizer, are from Aachen, the city of the worlds biggest horseriding competition (CHIO) and next to our property lives a former world champion and both of my parents were active in that sport and I say you are guilty!!!
