Tim Pink 0 Posted August 18, 2004 Yes they do have a lovely take on how the olympics works and how it should be. I emailed in a suggestion to make the Equestrian more exciting by adding such things as land mines, burning hot pitch and replacing that snotty english commentator with Steve Irwin Timmeh
Guest Posted August 18, 2004 I thought Karate was in the olympics Judo is in the games, and Tae Kwon Doe (sp?) probably is....even though its got virtually nothing to do with the real Tae Kwon Doe and was only put in there by a corrupt South Korean IOC official [/rant] Roy and HG rock.....and a certain Fat-Arsed Wombat seems to have made a comeback

ralphwiggum 6 Posted August 18, 2004 10 to 11 now http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/olympics_2004/default.stm seems like the two greek sprinters were using something. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/3576116.stm Quote[/b] ]There are feelings of shock and disgrace on the streets of Athens after two of Greece's leading athletes pulled out of the Olympics amid a doping controversy. The sprinters deny any wrongdoing News of the sudden withdrawal of Kostas Kenteris and Katerina Thanou have cast a shadow over the Games, the day after the country's second gold medal win. Winters 1 Posted August 19, 2004 I was reading in the paper this morning that the shot put was held in the ancient olympia stadium. That must have been an experience for these athletes to get to play on Hercules playground. Olympia/Shot put

Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted August 19, 2004 oh come on, the whole world knows that Ms Piggy was created based on the stereotype of british girls. And nowadays they run around with short T-shirts showing their big belly and a skirt that indicates a rather large sitting-plattform!

bn880 5 Posted August 19, 2004 I am here once again to say that Canadian TV stations SUCK at covering the Olympics. They show almost only events where Canadians are participating and have a good chance. Showing the same competitions with Canadians doing well over and over and over, while other nation's statistics and other full competitions are not show. This really sucks, first it was totally screwed up Le Mans coverage, now this. Even American TV stations are covering the olympics better because they have contenders in more competitions. The Olympics are not just about your own country, especially in Canada.... I am so frustrated about that.
Guest Posted August 19, 2004 I think you'll find most countries do that. The rights to show the Olympics are not cheap, so they try to recover the costs/make a profit by getting the highest ratings....ie: showing sports in which the nation is competing. Not ideal for sure, but considering the outlay, it's understandable. Anyone see the archery men's semis? Wow!
bn880 5 Posted August 19, 2004 There is definately a problem and loss of spirit in the world then, because the Olympics should not be a case of jsut profits, they serve to unite us in a "fair" set of games, they should be broadcast as fully as possible at a fair cost.... just ticks me off.
