cassandra 0 Posted July 17, 2004 I've created a new soldier model from the toes up (literally) which I eventually plan to complete as a sabotuer of sorts.. I've got the model ingame with some minor problems that need fixing I'm no genius and am hoping someone with knowledge of soldier models, selections, and game engine lods etc etc would like to help.. if so then please get intouch through pm or otherwise note: the model itself is not complete and perhaps far from

I believe we need more girls playing ofp, enough to overide us almost Anyhow, i could help ya with your addon here. ~Bmg
Parker Hale 0 Posted July 17, 2004 Hi cassandra, It pleases me to see women taking an active interest in the game (and in the military in general), i for one welcome it. I have always believed that women make just as good a soldier, sailor etc as any one of us males. I remember a female soldier was released a few years ago called cassandra (or am i mistaken in the name?) and then we had the Amazon packs and just recently some female saboteurs from philcommando. Your unit is looking very good at this stage and i urge you to keep on going with it. In terms of help you could always ask someone in the know like Laser, Stoppelhopser (think that is how you spell it), the ORCS team or even Philcommando themselves for some pointers etc. You have nothing to lose. bmgarcangel 0 Posted July 17, 2004 You know it would also be cool if you could actually like create not just spec ops soldiers that are girls but also a few other female pilots, us army regulars, and some russian soldiers too.....that would be so awesome! ~Bmg
Heatseeker 0 Posted July 17, 2004 Looks very elegant and nice, more like a pretty nurse doll than most of the ugly/weird military women ive met or came across . Maybe with a balaclava or cammo face and something to cover her pretty hair... also a stronger build would make her more believable has she also looks very fragile and skinny . Looks very good though, good luck and hope you find help. edit: Quote[/b] ]Are you a girl? Just curious :-D you didnt know she did the great soundtrack for BAS MH-60 and Tonal addon packs . cassandra 0 Posted July 17, 2004 I'm hoping bis get the idea to include female soldiers in ofp2, that alone would attract alot more of the female market that exists, to be honest I've never liked roleplaying with the male models.. and you should know I've been around for a long while.. not quite as long as mother fruitloop though (avon) the cassandra (casfsoldier.pbo) model was mine, edited from selectthis' klr biker model originally and quite ugly.. but it served its purpose I'm having minor troubles at present that I don't know how to fix basically.. for instance, the model ingame wont run, move or turn her head when in first person mode.. I've added geo, fire geo, memory etc lods and I'm not sure what the problem is.. perhaps selections missing, though at the moment I'm a little lost if I can get this (base) model working then it will certainly open up new doors to other types of infantry, pilots and the like
-ZG-BUZZARD 0 Posted July 17, 2004 I wonder if Blind Dog is still around, he was the addon maker author of the Amazon pack... there are some pics in ofp.info of a female soldier model...

Kaliyuga 0 Posted July 17, 2004 I can compare it against the BAS infantry kit model that I'm using to make some troops, and make sure your unit has all the selections that the BAS infantry kit has if you'd like... I'm thinking that maybe your selections aren't defined in the View-Pilot LOD perhaps.. as thats what is used for first person view AFAIK probably wouldnt take too long to look at
Lupus-WD- 0 Posted July 17, 2004 All bis would have to do now is a way that players can have several custom faces in their users/name_of_player/ folder, like fface.jpg which would be automatically used when one is assigned a female character... i hardly imagine how it would be weird to have a bearded female character, and i hate when one cant have their custom face but a standard one... as is, i cant see how alternate custom faces could be seen by other players in a mp game... too bad they did not think of that, could be so usefull not only for gender change, but to have different camo faces available... Nice model anyway Cassie, better than my poor attempt at only making women faces used on a male body ;P
Asmodeus 0 Posted July 17, 2004 Hi Cassie, Looking cool! Â We (The Everon Cartel) would be happy to attempt to help you as Kali said. Â PM one of us if you're interested. Asmo
bonko the sane 2 Posted July 17, 2004 sorry, cant help, but im all in favour of nice looking curvaceous bodies in OFP  your model is looking very good, keep it up  ;)
BraTTy 0 Posted July 18, 2004 Looking nice Cassandra,if you want a guys opinion I'd like a rounder looking butt (aww I'm awful) But I would suggest comparing the named selections with that Resistance editable soldier that BAS released a bit ago.Or even the demo addons that BIS released .Named BISMan I thought (civilian)
philcommando 0 Posted July 18, 2004 Hi cassandra. I am no expert but i'll try to see how i can offer some help..nice to have some women soldiers in ofp, heck! even the arab nations have female soldiers and african women have been known to kill many a kind MCP UN male soldier! "the model ingame wont run, move or turn her head when in first person mode". I have built many rounded and realistic soldiers myself from toes up too...but hell!, the animation(skeleton) points in the bis models ( from which all unofficial addons are derived from) are hidden..only the selections names are revealed. Therefore I had to place my model in the EXACT position as the BISmodel to trick the hidden animator/kinetics engine to move the selected parts. It takes a lot of patience, trust me..cos u have to carefully observe each and every vertice of the original BISmodel on how they are placed like a recconnaisance soldier and duplicate as much as possible for your soldier. Proffesionally i would advise u to download the BISman from BIS breathe site or use a MLOD soldier model, cos its better to learn from the original source.cos other models like mine have corners cut..or errr..added :-P ... Technically..if u followed the selection names correctly and the way the parts are selected and the placement of your soldier is the same as BIS, it should work. Some other things i've noticed about ur model:- Hand:- the wrist doesnt seem to join to the 'lokets' (lower hand)- a common occurence - cos if u look closely at the bis model, loket selection includes a part of the wrist( ruka ) too..the top few vertices..that way the wrist will always follow the lower arm. elbow:- stretched thin - another common occurence - either u put in more vertices for the engine to stretch or make the elbow joint bigger. Dont worry about a pair of fat hands, cos somehow once ingame it will seem alright. shoulders:- I failed many times here cos i determined the shoulder selection(ramano) myself ..it needs to be exact vertice placement and furthermore it needs to sink deep inside to the chest selection (hundrik). Again no worries about that cos once ingame it will kinda expend outwards. Body:- LOL!...in O2 u gotta make it fatter as once ingame it will shrink. Another thing is that it will not be straight as u make in 02..kinda chest bent back and tummy protuding forward ingame ..thats why its gotta and better be fatter in O2. Legs:- usually the easiest part as the hidden animator/kinetics engine is kinder and less rigid on placement. Another side note:- if your model need to drive vehicles, its the first LOD ofp uses to place inside the vehicle, not the pilot view, with sight using the pilot view memory point. Therefore dont be surprised when ur model drive vehicles, the curly slick of hair can be seen!...one way out is to move your memory point pilot view forward...does no harm actually As for why first person view it wont move - could it be cos u didnt have the selections name in all the LODs?(from 0.00 to whatever number it is, except for geo LOD) I am writing this here instead of pm u cos i would like more to try to make models and may they learn from my foolish mistakes ...lol! From the looks of it, your model looks very good and ready to go.  All the best and may some of these here help
Nemesis6 0 Posted July 18, 2004 My thoughts - The skin looks a bit blurred(both good and bad), and of course, the hands are messed up, but that's a game issue I guess. Other than that - Looks really great. Good job.
cassandra 0 Posted July 18, 2004 Quote[/b] ]women have been known to kill many a kind MCP UN male soldier! and many more to come thankyou so much for posting all that info philcommando, you've enlightened me.. I shall have another stab in the dark again tonight.. I guess I'll put a bis soldier in lod 1.0 and move mine to the next one along so I can get a template - if I still can't solve the problems at hand, I'll take you everon cartel people up on your offer, I see kaliyuga on irc sometimes

Rishon 0 Posted July 18, 2004 Nice Model, it'll be cool to see things like Female Doctors, Pilots, and other Rear Echelon Women. But, I'd like to confirm a few things. Women are NOT allowed into Special Forces, Infantry, or any other direct Combat Involved MOS. So, PLEASE do not make a Woman Infantry or Special Forces model. Other wise, Great job, you'll finally see Women. Gives the guys who never get out of their houses a glimpse of just how joyful life is!

ZIKAN 0 Posted July 18, 2004 Nice work Cassandra. Hope you get the help and 'support' you deserve to finish this project. Its a shame some people still insist on tellling others what they cant or should not do, IIRC its a game after all.... Is it possible to get female voices included in this add on? FDF mod included new voices so perhaps it is. It was criminal of BIS not to include female voices in the first place. Good luck.
