UEFA Euro 2004

Very harsh decision for Russia - mind you, it took me at least two replays to decide whether it was an intentional handball or not - a ref doesn't have this luxury.

He did, but it looks really not like he intended to - he was just stopping his own fall. Tough one for Russia.

Yes, that is how i saw it as well.

he didn't, watch the replays and you'll see that there was no foul. But the bad thing is that there's no video for referee and at the same time you have the giant screen in the stadium showing the referee's mistake to the audience!!! FIFA and UEFA should take a decision about it. Now Russia is in big trouble.

Crappy game, i can't understand how we can have such a team (if this can be called "a team"). The referee was an asshole too.

Portugal wasn't very convincing I must say, but they were better than the Russians. Portugal-Spain promisses to be quite a match smile_o.gif

Portugal was the better team, so they deserved to win. Helped by that unfortunate descision for sure - but they were stronger even before. Russia actually played better when they were only 10. Congrats!

Tomorrow it is going to be interesting.

England-Switzerland, England is the most likely winner there.

Croatia-France, I hope Croatia, but I believe France will win that one.

Poor Mother Russia... Ovchinnikov didn't touch the ball with his hand.

Anthems and overall good players (e.g. Rui Costa) whistled, fouls condoned (Lampard, Rooney, Wörms, etc.), innocent gestures mistaken for fouls, jingoistic, aggressive reactions, slime and hype oozing out on our living-room floors, and everybody around happy...

I can't believe I actually love this game. ghostface.gif

It wasn't his intention to touch the ball; actually he did everything he could to avoid touching the ball.

If you were falling like this, and the ball was rolling like this, how should you don't touch the ball? This was never worth a red card.

Francesco Totti ( famous italian player) is probably on his way home soon. The danes presented some film-material from the game denmark vs italy ín which it is clearly visible that Totti spit into the face of a danish player.

Two things would make me embarassed of my country: hooligans and unsportive behaviour. This already happened in the past when a dutch player spit at a german player in 1990. But back then the stupid ref send off both players from the pitch. This time the guilty will be punished. What an asocial behaviour!! mad_o.gif

In France, they broadcast images zooming in on his arm and clearly showing that Ovchinnikov didn't touch the ball with his hand. Admittedly, it was impossible for the referee to see this. But then, I am a strong supporter of video-assistance. It'd change a lot of things in good IMHO. For instance, supporters would be less likely to react violently in the face of an unjust decision by a referee...

I saw those pictures with Totti spitting into the face of the Danish player. Yet another example of the twisted aspect of football, unfortunately. Anyway, good riddance.

Yeah. And he did it like six times to him during that game.
