Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted June 1, 2004 The day after tomorrow is as realistic as troy (Troja). both twist the facts majorly Hollywood style. Both are german stage directors. One made independance day before and Gozilla so we know what to expect from Day after tomorrow: nice catastrophies, little stories of individuals struggling to survive. It is fun if you got 2 hours to waste. Troj however. Big historical rape. Embarassing for someone who made the "Das BOOT" before, very very embarassing. Noone should ever accuse the americans again of being naive about history. A german stage director can even be MORE stupid and naive about history. And from now on an entire generation will have the totally wrong perception about the actual battle and the tribes involved. How the hell does anyone dare to make a film out this (one of the oldest) narative masterpieces anyway??? Â

DracoPaladore 0 Posted June 1, 2004 Hey, does this movie have a ridiculous warning at the beginning like on American TV channels? Things like: Rated PG-13 for Intense weather scenes, anguish, etc.

bmgarcangel 0 Posted June 1, 2004 THis movie was good. I saw it on Sunday after Ski-to-Sea. I like it actually, I think its really possibly. Massive de-salitation is really possibly and if that were ever to happen because of an Ice shelf breaking away, climiates would change dramatically. One thing i loved about the movie.... Mexican officals have closed the border because of an extreme flood of American refuges coming in from the north. I just burst out laughing about that, that was hilarious~! Now other then being a really good movie, it also had alot of humor in it like every day shit. I like that alot. Tornados were awesome too in LA. Poor weather man bastard and his hot corny chick. Not to mention, remember how people froze like instantly in some parts of the movie. That really happened back in the last ice age 10,000 years ago. Temperatures in some spots really in reality got even close to -150 degrees Fahrenheit. I looked itu p in a book and stuff and they talked about it on T.V. They actually have a few animals from back then that really had food still in there mouths that they had just picked off the ground and everything else about the mpreserved so bassically, soem animals just walking along and frooze almost instantly. ~Bmgarcangel

The change of climate will mainly disturb the marine streams and this will be a slow process. What you see in the movie is a quick summary of what might actually take many many decades. denoir 0 Posted June 2, 2004 The day after tomorrow is as realistic as troy (Troja). both twist the facts majorly Hollywood style. Both are german stage directors. Yeah, that's like discovering that Blümchen is German after listening to Bach  No but seriously, I can't see it as anything else as a grab for money. Hollywood isn't making stupid movies because Hollywood is stupid, but because their target audience worldwide is. Quote[/b] ]One made independance day before and Gozilla so we know what to expect from Day after tomorrow: nice catastrophies, little stories of individuals struggling to survive. It is fun if you got 2 hours to waste. As for Intependance day, I'm not sure if it really as bad as it seems or if it is over-the-top satire. I mean it's just so laughable that you must suspect that it's done on purpose. (The ultimately best made Hollywood satire that I've seen is probably Starship Troopers by the Dutch director Paul Verhoeven.) Anyway, as for this day after the tomorrow, I almost fell out of my chair laughing when I read this: @ June 01 2004,05:30)]In one scene, some of the characters get chased down a hallway by... I kid you not... cold.  I.E. everything is freezing behind them, and they're running away. And then they get to a door and close it behind them, and they're safe. My guess first would be that this movie is an agent provocateur for the far far right with the goal of discrediting the global warming observations. However... considering that average voter is incidentally about as bright as the average movie-goer, you never know. As for another movie in which you see New York destroyed... *yawn*. I've seen NY landmarks being destroyed by aliens (id), by huge tsuinamis (deep impact), by asteroids (armaggedon) and by terrorists (al-quaida). I really feel that I can survive without seen yet another destruction of it.

toadlife 3 Posted June 2, 2004 I just found out this movie was based on a book written by a man who claimed to have been kidnapped by aliens He also co-wrote WarDay if you ever read that. Good book. EDIT: Whitley Streiber Books The book refered to is Communion. When I was a kid (12 years old) I read Communion (link). It was one of most fascinating and riveting books I've ever read, and it left me with an intense need of a night-light in my bedroom for a week or so after I read it. Regardless of how you take it, Strieber tells an excellent story. Even hardcore skeptics can take enjoyment from it. I'll second your recomendation of Warday. I read it around the same time I read communion - another fantastic read.
