Baron von Beer 0 Posted December 20, 2003 Harnu, those faces look great! My only niggle with the add-on is the recoil. I fire a CAR-15 that is tournemant rigged (read ~$450 of tournemant aiding acc.) w/ a muzzle compensator, and a weighted stock. It doesn't kick very much, but even it jumps more than these on full auto. Think a 50% increase would bring em up to pace. Still not flying to the sky, but making one have to bring the barrel down a hair to stay on target after the first few rounds. The units look superb, and I love the SAW's sight! One other thing I noticed. (Honestly don't know if it is intentional or not) On the back of the Javelin soldiers helmet (didn't check the others) there are 2 little white strips, right above the goggle strap. At night, they are solid white as well. Wasn't sure if it was a missed texture, or some form of passive IFF, so you don't put one in your buddies back. iNeo 0 Posted December 20, 2003 Supressors on AK-74M's? I have never seen that, do you have some photos? I hardly think that the 5.45x39 is very effective at anything except CQB when theres a supressor on the rifle... I don't know about IRL but I have seen it in AA. If that's the same weapon..? I'm not 100%. And the quite low recoil doesn't bother me as I play exclusivley in FDFmod. Wich you all should be doing IMHO. So was I, but it seems the Marine weapons' recoil values override those of FDF... at least for me.
blackdog~ 0 Posted December 20, 2003 The strips are cat eyes like the BAS soldiers have. http://filin.benutzer.ru/chechnya/2/bigimages/chech_000203.jpg
Consigliere 0 Posted December 20, 2003 Yes those are reflective strips, and they look really good
Schokohase 0 Posted December 20, 2003 Hmm, okay, i tested them. Textures - as good as i expected Models - same. javelin! - nice thingy, but i want the KI use it... :/ recoil - well, that's a problem i think. with this low recoil i can't cross-use them with other addons, that's a shame! i want a higher recoil, and then there is a good symbiosis with other good addons, like the BAS ones. Baron von Beer 0 Posted December 20, 2003 I figured they must be a feature. (After so much testing, for something so blatantly visible. ) Did make sense being in the back. And yes, recoil is very light with or without FDF mod. (Initially tried with, went back to see if they were the same without.) Forgot to mention, the sounds are great too. (Initially tried with, went back to see if they were the same without.) Forgot to mention, the sounds are great too. The recoil isn't bigger in FDFmod, but the "shakiness" makes it alot harder to get thos shots right. But a little recoild tweaking wouldn't hurt the pack at all in my opinion. But I am happy with the way things are now By the way, using these guys together makes for some intense firefights! And I love the fireteam deal, as I so despise controlling units over eight men in size
earl 0 Posted December 20, 2003 I understand the whole "Dead Men Can't Recon" thing, but is there an option to turn it off? My, how we love to read our readme's. There should be a guide to TactEvents in the same folder as the addons. There is a master on/off switch and each effect also has a switch. Recoil is probably something that can be looked at later. I think because it was a closed system for so long we didn't really compare it against anything else, so it was always a fair fight in MP. AK74M can be fitted with PBS4 suppressor, same as AKS74U, I don't have pics but I did consult with a former razvedka Spetsnaz commander who served in Afghanistan and the first Chechen war. Evishion 0 Posted December 20, 2003 AWESOME addons guys Now we just need some high quality missions for it
Supah 0 Posted December 20, 2003 Been playing with these units for hours now (ok i went to a bar in between but that was for inspiration ). They look fantastic (weapons and player model) The m249 is real cool, though the recoil could be more. The current reciol might be real but game balance wise it may be too little fantastic addon Keep up the good work!
wolfbane 0 Posted December 20, 2003 What are the names of the faces included in the pack? Can´t find any info on that. Would be nice to use them in the editor on the ai units. Oh, and I still have the problem with the missing menu (please see my previous post a few pages back).. Does anyone know how to fix that? Thx wolfbane
blackdog~ 0 Posted December 20, 2003 By the way, recoil is this way probably because the whole pack has the advantage over no one from the same pack... if you know what i mean. you should be using MORPEH vs MARPAT if you want a fair fight.
Evishion 0 Posted December 20, 2003 hey Iw as trying to join the server,,but when I tryed I got this message: "Bad verson, Server rejected connection" and yes. I am running 1.94 anyone knows whats wrong ?
Lt_Damage 0 Posted December 20, 2003 Is it just me or does the Force Recon Scout disappear and then become a standard West soldier after a second? I have no scripts running so it must be a scripting problem in the Marine Assault Pack itself.

Lt_Damage 0 Posted December 20, 2003 I have no scripts running so it must be a scripting problem in the Marine Assault Pack itself. no Your call mate. I have reported it, done my part. A bit more testing showed, if I leave the unit by itself not part of a group he hangs around and doesn't turn into a pumpkin. If I make him part of a group with one other guy he is pretty happy also, same with 3 member team. If I add the fourth guy though, so the full force recon squad (manually created, I did not use a group from the menu) then he has a hissy fit and turns into a standard BIS soldier. Investigate or don't, i know my way around the issue so it doesn't phase me at all, as i said it's your call. Cheers, -edit: It isn't just the Scout, the issue just makes "One of the four" turn into a standard BIS west soldier. Cheers,
Tactician 0 Posted December 20, 2003 I've never seen a soldier change from one model to another ingame. Â If you can figure out how to do this with a script, please show me.. otherwise not much we can do for you =/
Lt_Damage 0 Posted December 20, 2003 Good point, imagine the possibilities, I'll make myself the player for this unit and see what happens to me.. edit - HAH, was very amusing, the unit actually gets chucked into limbo, it was like i was doing a never-ending HALO drop.. Which means a standard BIS unit gets placed on the ground in his place.. very odd. So no, we don't get to change models, damn. But something freaky is happening.. suchey 0 Posted December 20, 2003 Quote[/b] ]i want a higher recoil, and then there is a good symbiosis with other good addons, like the BAS ones. The recoil values in the package are equal to or higher than the JAM values. We actually tried to stair fairly close to them for compatability sake in case folks wanted to use other JAM compatable weapons in Co-ops and such. JAM Magazines are also compatable with ALL of the weapons (see the faq at the marine site for details). So the weapons can actually be 100% equal to other units. Im personally looking forward to JAM seals and our Marines working together in some good missions! Quote[/b] ]What are the names of the faces included in the pack? Can´t find any info on that. Would be nice to use them in the editor on the ai units. OOOps...Ill get that info into the quick reference guide...I completely forgot it! Thanks for the heads up! names are MarinePack1 through MarinePack10 for a total of 10 faces included. These can be placed on a unit by using: <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">this setface "MarinePack3" substitute the 3 in the above code with the numbers 1-10 to get different faces. Then place the above code in the init line of the soldier. Another item I forgot to mention is that each side has a custom flag texture...you can use these as follows: place a flag on the map and put the following code in the into flags init box" <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">this setFlagTexture "\SUCHusmc\flag.pac" (for USA) this setFlagTexture "\SUCHrus\flag.pac" (for Rusian Fed.) Quote[/b] ]Iw as trying to join the server,,but when I tryed I got this message:"Bad verson, Server rejected connection" I would bet it was the MTCO server. In order to join that server you must load all of the server addons and the Marine pack from an MTCO mod folder in your ofp directory. The easiest way to do this is to download and install the MTCOServerPack.exe file and it will create the mode folder, install everything, and even creat icons on your desktop to connect directly to the server with the proper loading perameters. (GOTY and some language versions may need to edit the path in the "quick launch icons" created by the pack).

suchey 0 Posted December 20, 2003 You have to use an MTCO mod folder Burns. If you load OFP without the mod switch of mod=MTCO and a mod folder created with all the server addons in it, the server wont let you on.
AKM 0 Posted December 20, 2003 I dunno... this is pretty damn good. I got more than I was expecting... That said, I am VERY happy that these are so computer friendly - revolutionary. The field dressing thing is quite nice. Mind you, I generally get hit in the face - I have a tendancy to poke my head around corners when I probably shouldn't... No blood textures for the head or helmet... well, nothing that makes me think: "Well, that's a headshot." Because, if your head gets hit with a round or a chunk of shrapnel - and it isn't stopped by your helmet, or it misses the helmet entirely - it'll tear you up, real bad. Hopefully that'll be construed as Constructive-Criticism. Pretty good if you ask me, I'll probably get a lot of use out of them. Simple rule of thumb that is NOT hard to follow by any means: Read the Readme it happens to be there for a Reason.. to be read. AK
