Bas blackhawks

Recommended Posts

One more thing... I updated my sounds that I made for the chopper to be louder... if you don't like the BIS UH60 sound...

http://www.tacticalblunder.com/blackdog/files/bas_60rotors1.wav

http://www.tacticalblunder.com/blackdog/files/bas_60rotors1.wss

If you like the sound, rename the wss file to "bas_60rotor.wav" and then just replace the one that already exists in the bas_mah60/sound folder and repbo it and you'll be set! Make sure to back up the PBO though.

I already showed this to Tigershark, and SelectThis.

My sound is basically less loud, with a little bit of TysieK's rotor sound mixed in.

actually i downloaded this just now.. and i really like the com2001 and com2002 sounds alot... nice and loud.. im imagining that real Blackhawks are loud.. and the com2003 is just a little too quiet.

And if BAS is going to change the sounds for the 1.92 version.. it should defintly be the com2002 sound.

Anyway great choppers again BAS! And J.A.M. is kick ass.. cant wait to hear the new sounds coming from M4 SOPMOD's with ACOG Scopes.. and is the EOTECH version the soar crew chiefs use the exact same one the Delta's use? or Do some of the Delta's still use the ACOG scope.

And i have pictures of Navy SEALS using a shorter barrel for an M4 and a different butt stock.. (NOT CAR15's) i was wondering will these be on the Navy Seals ill post the pics if you need them.

Quote[/b] ]It is also not possible to have a second pilot (unless it is put in as a cargo slot which would often be filled by the first person to jump in as cargo). This we felt was even more unrealistic than not having the second pilot.

As you're talking about realism, I don't see what is so unrealistic to have a "navigator/co-pilot", another pilot doing nothing but just as scenary in the UH-60 cockpit, since in the real life there's always a co-pilot.

In the BIS UH-60 you can put a pilot next to the pilot, or to makes short, put an empty UH-60 and put your squad in it, the left front seat will be filled, but not in your BAS UH-60, so let's say the left front seat can't be used at all, I was thinking that it would be a very basic feature.

Thats the point though... It would be more unrealistic to have the co-pilots seat set up as a cargo position (as it would mean the 1st cargo slot would be in the co-pilots seat) than to not have one at all...

This has been discussed at length a long time ago, and is not feasable, or possible with the current game engine...

It would be nice if we could add a pilot to the "cargo seat".

The point is, if we did it this way, if the helo was placed as "empty" then the first person to get in as cargo would end up in the pilots seat, which is, as I have said 3 times now, more unrealitic than not having one at all...

So to make things simpler (I've tried explaining, and being nice) STOP asking, as its NOT going to happen...

I know what you are saying so don't get pissy with me.

What I am saying is we could still have a SOAR pilot with the MoveInCargo command in the editor to fill this slot.

Er, I don't get it. My sound is the same as this sound, but yet you don't like it?

Edit: Pardon my anger, but let me just clarify...

MY SOUND IS THE SAME AS THESE SOUNDS. IT IS LESS LOUD BECAUSE IF IT WAS ANY LOUDER, YOU WOULD GO DEAF!

The one that San(insert rest of name here) posted is the one that I used mixed with TysieK's MH60 rotor sound.

Another thing, the reason mine sounds "SHARPER" is because when I have to convert them to the right format for the wss converter to work. That is why there is a loss of quality.

Here is my sound, play it at the same time as com_2002.wav

Edit: http://members.lycos.nl/dauragon/dauragonmh60sound.ogg - yours..

this one, which was a mix of the one you posted and my original sound ;0

Sorry, but you are wrong.

It IS the same, with DECREASED volume, because you can't hear ANYTHING in ofp with this sound at it's original volume. Not the radio, not the music, NOTHING. You can only hear the engine which is blasting out of your speakers. I've tried it already.

Additionally, it is mixed with a miniscule amount of the sound from Tysiek's MH60 so the rotors sound louder.

woaw calm down man.. no need for anger.. it is really to tell that they are the same sound.. the same way it is with the old BIS UH60 and the BAS Mh60.. i can hear no differnce.. but if they say it is.. it is. And with your sounds.. i hear no simularities with these. I would just like to have the com2002 with a decreased volume just enough so you can hear everything im supposed to (Radio, Music, Enviorment ect.) not with any mix of sounds.

and I said i didnt like your first sounds... but the second one you posted was great.. (ITS THE ONE IM USING NOW!)

Havent we had enough anger and arguing? Now that these things are out i just want to have as much as i possibly can.

Just out of curiosity, where did those sounds come from? The com2002 sounds are from a -60, but are taken from the back w/ the door open (lots of wind noise). The front is and/or inside w/ the door closed has more of a whine as you hear the transmission work.

That shutdown sound is dead on when the rotors aren't turning, but the startup sound is from a another type of helo. You don't hear the starter or the ignitors in the -60.

Regardless, since I haven't said it yet, thank you BAS. You guys put out some top notch work. The way the stab moves as you change airspeeds on the Blackhawk really was a nice touch.

Ok, the birds now are flying on linux!

I talked with Lee and he told me his server settings.

I only had to put the birds in the res addons folder!

All addons we used till today were put in normal addons folder and all worked well, only this ones not! Funny....

They work on my linux server since release and i put them into the addons folder (where i put all inofficial addons). Not sure where your problem came from, but it has nothing to do with linux. Maybe an incompatibility to another addon?

I am not sure but I think that last problem has to do with the overall "small-ness" of the chopper. This happened often with a set of jetpacks that I think Martin made. I don't know if you could set the weight higher and or mess around with some other properties to make that go away.

Adding weight would make the LB less manouverable.

true.. but i learned to get out of the stall, and you can make some really airshow like manouvers when you learned to get used to it...form 200m to 10 in 2-3 sec (when i counted right wow_o.gif )

I think you should leave it as it is.

Still working through this thread to see if my problem has been reported before...

Anyway, the first (and maybe only) thing i learned in IL-2 was to counter a stall (cause it happens to me that often), so i don't have a problem with the choppers stalling. I "managed" to get 3 or 4 stalls in a row while trying to avoid a shilka or two firing at me. Only problem were that the guys in cargo told me they feel sick afterwards tounge_o.gif

I dont know if this is a bug or just my screwy computer. But after I do a fastrope, if I try to go into third person or command view for some screenshots, I get an unblievable amount of lag.

It literally goes down to about 1-2 frames per second.

I think i have browsed the whole thread now, but only found a similar problem, not the same one...

I get this whenever i look at the blackhawks. I was standing on ground with my team and a blackhawk hovered above me. Whenever i looked up my fps would drop to 2 or less. And btw: my hardware specs are not bad, i normally play 1600x1200 with all hitexture mods that i can get wink_o.gif

Second time i noticed it on a base where i wanted to refuel my littlebird. Whenever i turned to look in the direction of 2 parked blackhawks (doing nothing, with noone inside) my frames went down. Refuelling was nearly impossible as everything freezed for a second or two, including the refueling process. I had to hit refuel at refuel truck ten or twenty times until my chopper was refueled and even going through the action menu was difficult, so laggy was the gameplay. When i turned the littlebird around to face the other way everything worked fine.

benu,

Is this a constant problem with the Blackhawks or only in certain instances? How do they perform if you turn down the graphics a little?

I had not too much time to play with them so i am not sure if this is a constant problem. I hope to be able to test this tonight. But it seems to be a constant problem... in the other mission i was not able to get onto the ladder as i always had freezes when getting near it. On the other hand i can't recall freezes in ranger rescue (will definitively test that mission again although we completed it first time).

Quote[/b] ]How do they perform if you turn down the graphics a little?

Ehm, why should i do that? I bought a fast pc to play with everything set to on, all other addons (and i use lots of those) make no problems at all with the settings i use. I don't want to sound rude or something, but i do not hope that turning down my graphic options is the only solution, cause everything else works with these settings and i would have to consider the addon broken then sad_o.gif

And before you get me all wrong i want to tell how much i like the new choppers biggrin_o.gif

Because thats what its there for, if your computer starts to run a little slow slide the slider to lower detail, the blackhawk is a high detailed bird and so of course uses more polygons and better textures than the BIS blackhawks, so you will have to adjust your missions and settings accordingly if you start to encounter slow down with it, however on testing we did with the helicopter prior to release, we found the drop in framerates to be about equal to that of the Apache.

With these choppers you have to have the lod settings at a somewhat reasonable level. In normal ofp I can turn lod switching off and still run fine, but when I run bas addons I have to go to about 1/2 way on the slider or I get slowdown. It's the price you have to pay. I can still have the res at 1024x768, view at 2000 and ground set to high. So I'm assuming it could just be your lod sliders.

Benu,

Actually the reason why I asked if changing the graphics settings does anything is to try to narrow down the cause of the slowdown. Not suggesting that you have to play at a lower graphics setting.
