There is a public section where you can ask such questions. It's also the best place to ask for people willing to sell their license (I sold mine there), but don't expect to get away with just a few bucks.

ozanzac 0 Posted October 5, 2005 Placebo, just out of interest (having run into posts of yours outside of this forum), of all the gaming forums you visit, how many posts have you amassed, and approximatly how many e-mails per day do you respond too from the average Joe Gamer? And of those posts, what percentage of them would be based on 'spreading the word' for BIS products? The fact I noted your presence 'outside' of these forums, kinda says you spend a hell of alot of time in forums, fufilling your PR / community liason role. Though I haven't yet made up my mind if what you do qualifies as work (you lucky bastard), I don't see too many other developer representatives active in other forums, so whatever it is you 'do', keep it up! Placebo 29 Posted October 5, 2005 I monitor around 11 forums daily but really haven't posted all that much in them, maybe 1000 posts spread amongst them, I just jump in where it feels appropriate or useful In those forums 99.9% of my posts are "spreading the word", occasionally I feel it necessary to enlighten people who think Fifa is a good football game Obviously I get a lot of Emails but many are similar things which I can reply to using previous replies for things such as lost CD-Key, beta testing, release dates, system specs, questions about the games etc

Heatseeker 0 Posted October 10, 2005 Only moderator or dev names come highlighted in blue in the bottom forum users list right? Who is master ? New unknown moderator from hell, dev or a forum bug? . edit: I checked the profile better, OF forum team? Answers the question i guess, strange to see such an old time member and moderator with such a small presence here over all these years..

Daddl 10 Posted October 12, 2005 Rather looks like an alias for one of the admins or some other BIS member. Don't think that this is one of the actual moderators. If I had to make a wild guess I'd say it's Marek Spanel.

walker 0 Posted October 17, 2005 Hello Modies Slight Request At the moment there is a discussion in the US politics thread that while it definitely is a US politics issue is also an international issue and of such import as to require its own thread. I also fear that as well as; potentially dragging the US politics thread off-topic, this important thread may be lost in upcoming political matters we can all see are about to break and that would be a great pity. I therefor reiterate the request I made in the US Politics thread I quote [b said: Quote[/b] ]Hi allI think that: * The political future of the internet. * What organisation should control it * To what degree it should be under national control Etc. Are all very important questions but I do not think they should be in this thread. Rather being of an international nature and of such an important subject area that it deserves its own thread. Entitled, "Who should run the internet?" or some such. I there for request that the Moderators move these posts out of the US politics thread and to such a newly created thread. Kind Regards Walker Kind Regards Walker
shinRaiden 0 Posted October 17, 2005 On this politically charged discussion, walker and I are in uncharacteristicly full agreement that the Internet (mis?)management discussion should be forked.
ralphwiggum 6 Posted October 18, 2005 I don't see anything wrong with that. However, I'm also wondering why this cannot be discussed on international politics thread.
shinRaiden 0 Posted October 18, 2005 Because it's complicated enough of a nerd topic that it would thrash the course of the traditionally political discussion there, and secondly the divisions are more technical vs non, rather than strictly dogmatic, although that is a factor. Basiclly, dropping examples of bitwise operations on IPv4 addressing to make the case for insufficently deployed IPv6, and disparete domain management protocols, along with internationalization coding requirements of native asian-language unicode domain registration, IP and media distribution legalities, are all delightfully obtuse technical topics that we nerds only shovel on to our worst enemies. ralphwiggum 6 Posted October 18, 2005 from what i see, the decision over who gets what has more to do with political will and action, and less with technology. but anyways, go ahead if you guys want to.
blackdog~ 0 Posted November 1, 2005 RE: [b said: Quote[/b] ]I'm thinking that maybe it's about time we lock this thread and start new one. any comments would be welcome, in Ask a mod thread I start it though.
Supah 0 Posted November 1, 2005 Whats the normal size of a thread before it gets locked? Can't really say I experience the length of the thread as a problem really. Besides now people can look through the thread and have a look at what's posted. If you look it it will drop down a load of pages and it will be harder to look at previously posted images. Well, I could be wrong, but I think that the first combat-photo-thread was locked after it reached page 500. So I think a normal thread could go on just as long or perhaps even longer. The problem is that it becomes almost impossible for a newbe to read the entire thread. But at least he has the chance. When it get's locked the thread will disappear in the deep dark archive of the forum, only to be lost forever
ralphwiggum 6 Posted November 1, 2005 whoever makes the second thread should post link to the previous thread IMO. 170 pages is getting a too big IMO.
killagee 0 Posted November 1, 2005 I think it would be a shame to start a new one. If its not really a server space issue or anything... There is a great history of posts in this thread, photo from all over the world from all levels of skill. You can see people tuning into grat photographers as their posts get better and better (ie: ineo, super, goob etc). Is it really such a problem clicking on the 'last page' arrow? Major Fubar 0 Posted November 2, 2005 Massively large threads can be a nightmare to monitor efficiently. I can't really see any problems with locking the thread when it gets to a certain size and starting a new one. We do it with the OFPCP thread.
