Swedish forces pack 3.0 released

Recommended Posts

Sweden's number one enemy (apart from Denmark tounge_o.gif) has always been Russia.

Russia is "East" in OFP and therfor the logical choice is that Sweden is either "West" or "Resistance".

I thought it was Norway tounge_o.gif

Some smaller issues:

[*]On Tgb 20 there is a missing texture in one or several of the LODS on the undercarriage of the truck

[*]The Pbv 501 is too big (same mistake as with BIS' BMP)

[*] The Ak4 model looks a bit weird. Can't put my finger on it but there is something that doesn't add up.

TGB20 = ouch.. sorry

PBV501 = same model as BIS (our first vehicle just repleaced texture, hope to get our hands on fdf's rescaled one)

AK4 = Hmm.. i think it feels too small but thats just a personal note. Doesn't know..

A CV-9025 or CV-9030 (25mm and 30mm cannons) version with a slightly higher rate of fire and thinner barrels might be nice also. Better yet a CV-90105 or 90120 tank killer version!!! [smile_o.gif] But I do like that big Bofors 40mm auto-cannon and the rate of fire is just perfect for it. [smile_o.gif]

There is no 25 mm,just for children anyway.. laugh at m2a2 tounge_o.gif ;) and 30 mm is for export. But since we plan on doing one with BILL (thats like TOW) version too and this is just a prototyp in sweden we can change to a 25 mm cannon to it and make it balanced with the m2a2. (thats the reason for the bill version). the tank killer version i also would like.

They were making a TGB 20 with a KSP58.. something happened there, dunno what [sad_o.gif] [/code]

Bugs and stuff so we skipped it for 3.0 since we had to be done . But we haven't forgot about it.

Quote[/b] ]My biggest gripe overall about this beautiful pack however is that there is barely any documentation for it!!! For us Non-Swedes, we can not understand what all these units are except using trial-and-error methods in the map editor.

I am really really sorry for that, it is always fun when people are intressted in your own country and so but we are no big team and people are busy all the time. I will try to correct it for certain but i am sorry.

Quote[/b] ]I like that one without the helmet with the old bolt-action rifle also

hehe, A long story behind that one, It is actually two things behind it. Firsly Goob asked me to do a soldier wihtout the helmet and stuff for his cutscen (soldiers in base camp doing push ups don't wear helmet..) so i did and called him "Värnpliktig" that means "conscript" and i also thought it would be like conscripts are known for forgetting their gear and stuff in the beginning and isn't "combat" dressed. Then i asked Ugga (and Wipe had some parts in this too) to do the M96. that is 1896. A old rifle that is amog many collectors but is outdated in the swedish army. Even if you probaly can find atleast 1 somewhere, but it is a classic weapon that I didn't want to be forgotten. Then one day I thought it was stupid to have a M96 rifle with no soldier in the editor (didn't do any since it wasn't used anymore in the swedish army) and to have a "conscript" one without a weapon. So I gave him the m96 (guess goob have to use "removeallweapons this ) and renamed him to Hvu. That should actually be HVu and HV is our Homeguard and the U stand for "ungdom" or "youth". This is for the riffle contined to be on "activ" duty for many HVu and the first riffle they was allowed to fire. So really it is a childsoldier so don't put it into combat ;)

So there came some information about that one.

Quote[/b] ]y favorite soldier however is the SSG (GN-1) soldier with the night goggles and silenced rifle

Since i got so happy about your post I will write some about your favorit soldier then. SSG (GN-1) stands for two things. SSG is the name of our special forces and GN-1 is the name for night google. Me and shar thought it sounded better then to have SSG (night) or something. There isn't much know about and their official site: http://www.mil.se/article.php?id=7915

doesn't say much other then that the "recruit" time is off, and there is some pictures of them, or something that should look like them. But weapons are blured. The ssg weapons in the pack is most likely not used by the SSG in real life. It is possible for conscripts to apply for it but they have to first study to become reserv officer. The SSG was in afghan 02 and probaly down in Congo now or been there and Bosnia. Afghan i am 100% sure about and congo and bosnia was SSG or the Parachute Regiment. ( source Special Forces in International Operations,

Challenge for the future.

By Dr. Magnus Norell and Karin Ströberg)

hmm, this is getting much text. Anyway, thanks for your post Miles Teg and if there is anything you want to know you can always ask.

Btw. There is 1 uint that i should said in the readme not so easy to find. in East you find a guy called "sfp captive". He is for those hostage missions.

Thank you so much GranQ for your excellent reply. That answered my questions nicely. smile_o.gif

After I finish off my Afghan mission and also a Russian Airborne mission (using AKM-74's new BMD's) I'll start working on some serious missions with this pack that I'll be happy to send to you when they're done.

Oh also make sure to copy and paste the excellent information you typed in your reply and put it in a readme file for the next update of this pack. smile_o.gif I really enjoy such historical background information of the units and equipment as well as the personal stories about the creation of these addons.

Keep up the awesome work! Beautiful addon packs like this Swedish Mod keep OFP fresh and interesting!!! smile_o.gif

as GoOb said, i´m working on a desription text in english, complete with a short description of the different unit types, vehicles and weapons..

you can download it here

if you have any more questions you´re welcome to ask them smile_o.gif

[edit] I have made som small corrections, the Hvu is not a marksman, its a Volountary and the P-skott is not a LAW, its simply an AT4. [/edit]

Sweden's number one enemy (apart from Denmark tounge_o.gif)

LOL Yeah.. We once discused buying old nukes from Russia and setting them up on Holmen an old Danish navel base, but idea was scraped, we disided that if the Swedish "Army"  tounge_o.gif  ever were to attack us we were just going to line up some beer and some other booze and drag you back to Sweden once you got so drunk you coudn't stand on your legs anymore biggrin_o.gif

But it's a nice pack none the less wink_o.gif

if you only know what we have for evil plans.. with the new bridge (öresundsbron) up we don't even have to buy those landingcrafts, our tanks can drive right over and into your capital.. the only thing left in the plan is.. "why do we want denmark". So most likely we take norway back and take their oil before leave it back... hmm did i go offtopic now?

thanks and i hope denmark can produce some pack too, haven't seen too much around, the centrion tank was nice but had some serious flaws..

For our fighting units they are using strf90 for transport people (apc = like in person) but we use old APC's like the pbv302 (looks like a m113 with more round shapes and 20 mm cannon) for command crew and such, and the MT-LB is used by many uints. But for the role APC had before (transport) cv90 is used mostly (i think no source here) and the old apc's are now taking the role as command vehicle and other roles for not frontline soldiers..

a good page about swedish and other nordic countries armor you should really visit this one:

Danish M113

All of our M 113's will get add armor, 40 cm. I think, a very heavy APC, bring it on biggrin_o.gif Shot, i know you want to! biggrin_o.gif

Quote[/b] ]Good website... but i cant belive he doesn´t have anything about the Finnish army I guess that would have been to much content to write about ;)

Of course there isn't something about the Finnish army, SCANDINAVIAN armor rock.gif

@ denoir, where in Skĺne are you located? Maybe we are close since I'm there as well...

Since here are quite a few Scandinavians I just want to mention another great simulator forum named

NOSIG

Feel free to drop by if you are interested in "serious" co-op's with mature people... PS: It's not only for OFP, we play F4, IL2 as well

Well, PBV302, PBV401, PBV501 have been more or less take off duty in Sweden, and are used as targets.. Well now those Sovjet bastards will be destroyed (expect 302 that are Swedish).. Actully I can't belive why even Sweden Bought them (401 and 501 = MT-LB, BMP-1).. crazy_o.gif
