The machinegun version sounds really good. Do you have any screenshots yet?

That is some fantastic work I'm seeing here. I will be including the upcoming pack from your team on the OGN server for sure.

Thanks for your hard work guys, your addons are well done, useful and original.

Sounds good smile.gif. I suggest you split all those choppers into two PBOs, Mi2NO.pbo and Mi2CivNO.pbo or something similar for user friendliness.

And still I beg you to release an USSR version with MG along with the Resistance versions wink.gif.

From the sounds of it you arent making an MI-2 armed with just a machinegun (Either PK or something heavier), this is sorely needed to match the UH-60 w/ MG

Looks great! It looks like there is a new pilot in the police one.... it also looks like the pilot in one picture is stretching his arm out to fiddle with the controls. Keep up the great work!

If i am not completly out of the line the engine magnetos are controls tounge_o.gif  And how do you know he's not adjusting the aircondition smile_o.gif By the way can i throw in one request for the authors of these fine choppers? I'd love if you changed the cargo anim's nothing custom or so but i'd appriciate it if you made them sit like they do in the cars smile_o.gif

I love this little thing, i let it scout for armoured colums in the nogova mountains i ambush mujaheddin style. I love it! I made it that the trick is to let the chopper be, if that one notices you the convoy will be alerted smile_o.gif I let some of my less patient friends play the mission and they shot down the chopper .... and got owned by the armoured column smile_o.gif BTW and this maybe offtopic, would the russians use a mi-2 for that? Or just send a hind? smile_o.gif Great work guys, fantastic addon smile_o.gif

During the early part of the Soviet-Afghan war, they had total air superiority. DsHKM's and ZSU's aren't much of a threat to Mi-24's. Mi-24's did do a lot of convoy escort duties...until the introduction on the Stinger, at which point they had to fly so high that ground troops called them "cosmonauts" biggrin_o.gif

In short, a Hind would have done the actual escorting, but Mi-2's and Mi-8's were the workhorse troop transports. Hinds *very* rarely carried troops in Afghanistan.

Thanks smile_o.gif Just a thought, wouldnt it be cool if addons came with a description of what it would be used for IRL and how? Or am i completly of my rocker? I have no idea how the russians would orchestrate a well lets say convoy through hostile territory. having some refference would help allot to make more realistic and more fun missions smile_o.gif

Never looked at a BAS addons readme? Each of our addons comes with background reading about the real unit/vehicle.

The background information you seek is allways posted onto the BAS site (in the case of BAS addons) too. wink_o.gif

Yes i know but most of the stuff you guys make are special forces stuff and western. All of that is pretty easy to find on the internet ... what i was talking about is maybe a field manual for russian forces or something like that. Hard to explain smile_o.gif

So you wanna know more about Russian tactics and military doctrine?

I'd suggest finding a good web group or forum based on it. The only downside would be that it would probably be in Russian, or a similar language... (only a problem if you dont speak that language)

But, like the western stuff, there HAS to be something on the net... the net has everything...

Yeah I also usually use the Hind for those kinds of missions in OFP. This is mainly because it can take the most punishment but also because it has that gun turret that can take out enemy soldiers more easily then the Mi-2 with its rockets. The Mi-2 rarely goes after enemy ground troops with its rockets. It usually only targets enemy vehicles. At any rate, usually I use the Mi-2 for dropping off small teams of Spetsnaz and for dropping off officers (like General Guba). smile_o.gif

But in real life I imagine that they are also used for recon work as well since they are small and much more maneuverable then something like the Hind. The Hind does recon work often in pairs with one gunship trolling for fire, while the other gunship attacks the enemy position that shoots at the first gunship before the enemy's weapons find their mark.

At any rate, again, I usually use the Hind for that. Plus, you must admit that a Mi-24 Hind gunship looks MUCH scarier then a Mi-2 coming at you along a road. smile_o.gif It REALLY makes you think twice about attacking an enemy convoy. smile_o.gif

Well I dont understand russian so thats one barrier ;) Besides i thought it would be a good thing to do as a community. It would be like a resource for mission editors and players alike. Its just a thought smile_o.gif not knocking any one.

I'm the original OFP masochist, i cant resist shooting at it just to see what happens biggrin_o.gif

use dotarget and dofire "soldiername" in a waypoint and the mi2 will go after it. (i tested this with the littlebirds, they kept flying over very low firing their miniguns on the troops looked very cool!~)

Does the net have fancy red ribbons sugar canes and sweet almonds too, if so were can i find them?

No seriously it's not all that hard to find information about russian doctorine/tactics, rather the opposite. There are heaps of internet based companies that explain russian equipment extremly well. The doctorine is not that hard to find either. Just find a decent board for military tactics were poeple know what they are talking about. There it usually doesn't matter if the board has most members in west block contries since those geezers are fairly educated wink_o.gif
