AKM 0 Posted December 18, 2004 Quote[/b] ]Aha... alright, I can wait. I just hope we won't have to wait for a year again to get something like T-55 pack, and then wait some more... for another year, to get a small update of that T-55 pack. Some folks don't even know if RHS is still operational or not. It is my impression that things will progress more quickly now, with equipment that is more modern than the T-55s. Bobcatt666 0 Posted December 18, 2004 Yes it should and now RHSmod crew got a new stable location to communicate to other members things should return to some normal production level again. Which made things highly diffcult to work on, its not public so don't have to deal with the when its gonna be released spamers or I think you should make this addon just for me types. =)
Keller_777 0 Posted December 21, 2004 LOL. BTW - have you seen SeaDemon's T-72B?
AKM 0 Posted December 21, 2004 I have. It's nice. I haven't seen our T-72s, so I can't give a comparison, but my impression is they're based off Sigma-6's work. While SeaDemon did a nice job, and is continuing to do so, our T-72 pack will be much more comphrensive than a single varient of the T-72 MBT.
Shadow NX 1 Posted December 21, 2004 For those who wonder about us, yeah atm we seem dead, its more like a coma and myself i cant change a thing atm cause due to my fucked up internet provider i cant go online since 2 months ( im at my parents house atm ) so i totally lost track atm. Well i just can say we try to release something for christmas, i dont think T62s, it was not too smart anyway to say we release it with X or Y anyway cause as we see again you never know what happens. So what you guys get is a christmas present and maybe bit bonus ( something not shown yet too ). But i cant guarantee cause atm communication within the team is very limited. So stay tuned, i already edited the Inf and GRU you guys saw on last screens again for the release ...
Mayh3M 0 Posted December 24, 2004 Sea Demon's T-72 is quite earlie work to compare with Sigma's work -- Sigma-6 spent much more time on MBT T-xx series, that's why the last version looked better, of course, than Sea Demon's beginnings. By the way, Sigma had made the whole T-72 series, including the T-72BM and T-90 ;)
AKM 0 Posted December 24, 2004 To continue with May3m's statement: Some may not think that the T-90 is part of the T-72 line of vehicles, but apparently it is. I believe the T-90 shares the same general chassis as the T-72 MBT. Whereas the OPLOT is closer to a T-80, I think.
Oxide-ORCS- 0 Posted December 25, 2004 AKM, you r not completely right. T-90 has chassee of T-72 and combat module similar to T-80.
AKM 0 Posted December 25, 2004 Thanks. I had been talking to Sigma earlier, and I wondered why the T-90 was included in the T-72 pack he released. It's because of the Chassis, and that's all I know. Now I know more. I'm not the armour specialist in the first place.
SPQR 0 Posted December 25, 2004 The T-90 is a rather far improved T-72 and is on par with the latest T-80 models. During its developpment the new tank was named Objekt 188, and should have be officiallly named T-72 BU. But as the name T-72 was associated with iraqi T-72 wrecking by US tanks during Gulf War 01 in 1992, and so in a marketing point of view T-72 not anymore a good export selling argument, it was renamed T-90 by political apparatus. Since the first T-90, the tank has been improved with the model T-90M Vladimir (a good point to identify it, its cast turret has been replaced by a welded one). AKM 0 Posted December 26, 2004 All good to know. My point was merely that the T-90 is included under the T-72 pack (In SIGMA-6's collection) because of the similar Chassis. And Hell, who says you can't learn on a Holiday? The T-90M's primary difference with the T-90 is the welded, rather than a cast turret? Interesting. Speaking of which, I think it's safe to say that the GRU + Motor-Rifles are very close to release and that you'll all be pleasantly surprised. Most of the screenshots are now out-of-date, for the record. So if things don't look familiar...
raedor 8 Posted December 26, 2004 oplot is also called t-80-120 (184?) or something afaik.
ShadowY 0 Posted December 26, 2004 oplot is also called t-80-120 (184?) or something afaik. Picture from 09-10-2003, it did not get released that christmas, maybe this can be the little extra bonus a year later? I doubt it but who knows
Shadow NX 1 Posted December 26, 2004 Normally it was planned to come with the T80s No it wont be released this christmas Im sorry, so many expect so much but atm the team is in a hard phase, members are MIA etc. The remaining mebers still work hard but our power is limited. I for myself work hard to allow us to release something today or next day, depends if i get the weap pack ( phase1 of it ) today
CanadianTerror 0 Posted December 26, 2004 Quote[/b] ]Im sorry, so many expect so much Well after a long time and a lot of pics of "upcoming" addons... what do you think people would expect? Yes, people are very demanding but modmakers tend to show off a lot of work in pictures and then say nothing about it afterwards (like the T84) for a long time. EDIT: At least people like RHS's work and continue to be interested. A lot of addons get dimissed and forgotten about rather quickly.
MEDICUS 0 Posted December 26, 2004 Just a little patience, there will be a small present (it's more a bonus) very soon!
MEDICUS 0 Posted December 26, 2004 Here we go: Aerosan Scout Snowmobile NKL-
sanctuary 19 Posted December 29, 2004 While browsing OFP.cz , i found this news showing a lot of RHS tanks that were in fact updated (model/textures/sounds/scripts) version of Sigma-6 excellent work, and 7day later , this one showing a superb T80. considering the date of this news article : 20 June 2003 , i really wonder if it has joined the "will never be released" addon bandwagon , or if can we expect a release before OFP2 ? The tanks in the screenshot looks very nice, and the Sigma east tanks needs to be rejuvenated by today (RHST55, InqM60 and InqM1A1 rework of Sigma) new standard. I hope the rhs tank pack is always a reality and not cancelled.
raedor 8 Posted December 29, 2004 you already have the first and more than the half of the second line they are not cancelled. you know that RHS is not a very fast mod... sorry.
sanctuary 19 Posted December 29, 2004 Browsing OFP.cz and finding so much really awesome and promising addons that have really been cancelled made me a bit more desesperate than usual Good to know that it is not the case of this tank pack
AKM 0 Posted December 29, 2004 I was wondering when someone might bring that up, sounds as if I was doing the same thing that you were, Sanctuary. Generally, what we've done is taken Sigma-6's tanks, which form what I would consider to be "The Standard" for armour (And they're nicely balanced against his American tank pack, and this new Inqusitor + Team (Can't remember all their names) M1A2 provides very nice opposition) and we've improved upon them by updating models, textures, little bit of coding, and tank-riders, that kind of thing. Now, it seems stupid to have troops riding on ERA plating. I agree with you, it's a dumb idea. But, your average Russian conscript doesn't know that, and he does it anyways. You'll find a lot of images of this kind of thing going on in Chechnya. For those of you who don't know, and I hope there are very few, ideally none, who don't know why not to sit on ERA plating: ERA Plating is a method that allows an armoured vehicle to survive more damage by attaching Explosive-Reactive Armour plates to the hull and turret of the vehicle. This explode before the incoming warhead hits the vehicle, and destroys the warhead. These ERA plates are "One-Time Use Only" for all the obvious reasons. Against incoming tank shells, they are not all that useful but against missiles is what they were really designed for, and are the first stepping stone in nearly all Russian counter-ATGM systems, such as "Drozhd", "ARENA" and suchlike. Obviously, sitting on one of these plates is a very bad idea. But as stated before... they do it anyways.
eestikas88 0 Posted December 29, 2004 imagine that in ofp: dumb enemy infranty sits on those plates what are on BMP, you shoot it with AT and BOOM no more infranty or BMP.
Przezdzieblo 0 Posted December 29, 2004 I suppose that direct HEAT warhead hit in armour of tank with some soldiers sitting on it would be also... unhealthy. In this case ERA cell explosion would be only some kind of overkill. From the other hand tank gives sitting on it soldiers a little protection (and would not explode after MG bullet/splinter) and transport. So nothing strange. One more thing - Russian K5 probably is more "desant-friendly" than other ERAs, because front plate of cell stays on place after explosion. http://armor.kiev.ua/fofanov/Tanks/EQP/kontakt5.html
AKM 0 Posted December 29, 2004 Excellent reference file, thanks. Might, might not be. Infantry are very easy to kill until they dig a hole. Then it takes way too much to get them out. Russian conscripts may not be the best in the world, but they're not retarded. They hop off the bullet magnet the first chance they get.
