for something completely different...

is there going to be some newer version/release of the delta/rangers addon from BAS one day,as for bug corrections ?

i have noticed that little bad aligned texture on the face while creating new faces for OFP :

texterror.jpg

I think this is just a matter of the side texture being aligned a few pixels too low.

Ok, i know it's really not a big issue, but i wanted to point it out, just in case...if it is never corrected i really think i can live with that anyway wink.gif

Nobody, or any thing, is perfect, those are tiny little nit picks, although probably fixed...

I think you'll be pleasently surprised when the updated version comes out.

About the texture alignments. hehe... those are hell to get perfect, but we're reworking many little things like that.

And are those faces from our pack? I didn't do any faces, but I know a few were in there. I also think that as far as units go, you'll find that the BAS units are not perfect, but I would wager to say that I did a much better job aligning texture seams that most. Trust me on this one. I spent enough time making sure most creases/folds/shadows/etc wrap from seam to seam. Pain in the ass the way BIS mapped the unit models. Hell look at their mapping. Not even close to being seamless. So I think any increase in quality on that end is a plus for any addon.

Like I said, just wait until you see the new ones I'm mapping. It makes the previous Deltas and Ranger uniforms and tac gear pale in comparison. On top of that, you've yet to see the Seals, SOAR, etc. Everything builds on previous work. Good things are on the way.

Maybe i wasnt really clear, the face is not from BAS addon or any other addons, this is a face i am currently making, the problem i was pointing was not in the face conception but the way faces textures are mapped on BAS delta/rangers. The texture isnt mapped on the sides the same way it is on regular ofp soldiers. That is, if i make a face where the side texture are aligned on the BAS models, they won't be aligned on other non-BAS models. On the picture, the face.jpg was designed so that it's aligned with basic ofp soldier -> doesnt align well with BAS !

I dont really care about htat small bug.. i hope BAS puts a backwards American flag BY DEFAULT on their rangers so we dont have to do it manually.. the yellow tinted goggles sometimes annoys me.. the beta's with non tints looked better. And tor elease the mh-6 with new cargo anims... and also the MH-60.. i was otld their holding it off cuz their working on fitting a 12th in the mh60.. umm in real life it only seats 11 fully equipped.

Oh, ok, I see what your saying... I think. If you make a face that works with the default units, it doesn't align when used on BAS units, and conversly(sp) if a face is made that works on the BAS units it won't align on default units.

I'll see if this can easily be fixed, but you may be s.o.l since I only worked on the bodies on every addon I've been a part of. Selectthis has been the one working over the heads, so I'll see if it can be fixed, but don't hold me to anything smile.gif

Don't know if this was covered before but I did a fresh install the other day. Installed the exe file I believe and now when I try and play the Delta SP mission it says I'm missing the sebremington and just defaults back to the main menu.

were those 15-20 soldiers Fully Equipped?? and anyway the rangers say up to 11, and thats what bas is making.

And yes.. the M4 sounds need to be improved, ive been noticing in real life sounds from the war the M4 doesnt sound like it did in the BHD movie.. its more of a Loud Snap noise. And the Machine Gun sounds, i never liked em.. if nothing else updated.. update the Machine Gun and m4 Sounds. the m4's shouldnt sound so Mog 1993.. after all.. u rnt making addons from that time anyway right?

Yes.... they were fully loaded. We carried about 100 pound rucks per man, and routinely 15-20 men per blackhawk. While the bird may not have had as much range as it would have had if there were only 11 guys inside, the fact of the matter is that the UH-60L is capable of more than you think.

Not exactly safe in a crash I'm guessing. Were the seats removed?

Just to add to the conversation, In peacetime training there are many things that we dont or are not authorized to do for safety sake, that is done routinely during actual combat operations.

Additionally, some units are authorized to train in certain ways based on their mission, such as Special Ops units, that regular troops dont do.

Putting 15 guys in a Black Hawk in no way overloads the bird, (I've seen Black Hawks lifting a HMMVW with a 155 Towed Howitzer attached, among other things) Incidently a Black Hawk with seats installed can carry 17 Pax total: Pilot, Copilot, two crewchiefs (left and right) and 13 troops (Squad leader seat is between the crew chief seats)

The pros and cons are like this: (We call them risk assesments)

This is very basic and just an example so bear with me.

Factors?

Mission Requirements? Combat Operations? Peacetime Training?

Seats in = some crash protection, limited equipment room, and less men, slightly more range without stubwings installed.(Probably OK in training no danger of receiving fire)

Seats out = less crash protection,(which is negated by the potential of taking fire in combat and being shot down, where seats arent much help) more men, more equipment,(= More combat power and capability) less range. (Can be extended with stubwings)

Also some technical info about your comments regarding the M4, and Mogadishu etc.

We are working on a way to improve the sounds for all our weapons. However, there were no M4s in Mogadishu in 1993, since they hadnt yet been developed fully or put into production. Additionally, the guys that were using your "M4s" were also using different ammunition then standard issue ammo. (until they ran out and were forced to consolidate with the Rangers of course)

That said, a .223 (5.56mm NATO) is a .223. The difference in sound is not really perceptable between projectiles leaving the muzzle, especially with no experience.

Lastly, and this is key: THAT WAS A MOVIE, and therefore they were A. Firing Blanks (Which sound very much different since you wont here the crack of the projectile leaving the muzzle at supersonic speed) or B. using the Hollywood special effect propane guns, which detonates a small burst of propane to give the POP sound of a weapon firing.

Point being, it was a MOVIE and not real. It never ceases to amaze me how people base their opinions and comments on the accuracy of ANYONES addons and models not just BAS on what they saw in a movie, rather then real research and info from real soldiers.

Those are my two cents!

Yes, they were. I've never flown on a mission where the seat WERE installed. Not that I can recall, anyways. At JRTC I know for sure we had them out. Mind you, it's been 3 years since I've been in a helo. We'd sit on top of our rucks, which wasn't always comfortable, but it did provide some ass relief over that vibrating metal floor.

And, at JRTC, we flew with the side doors secured. I seem to remember that this was the only way we'd be able to operate without seats and still be considered safe. It wasn't too far of a flight from England AFB to Fort Polk anyway - 20 minutes seems about right from forming up the flight and landing at that airstrip in the box. Where, by the way, we got hammered.

Not quite "duplicates" anymore I feel.

Duplicates in the sense they're M4 rifles, but I had to impliment them into the pack, so that the pack was "self-contained" and did not require other addons, other than the ones that come in it
