ARMA 3 Addon Request Thread

Here is my incredibly specific request: Planes

Any kind, any type. Jet, prop, rocket, I dont care. Just fill the skies with something!

(Seriously, I think fixed-winged aircraft are kind of the most lacking part of ArmA III)

There's already a hang-glider, an AC-130X and a Cessna 185 that can be found on Armaholic, and Saul & John_Spartan are working on an Arma 3 version of the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet (no ETA though!).

Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone could make a mod chaning around how you place markers and so, plus a few other things.

Instead of having to go through the entire list of markers and then using shift+arrows to go through all colors, I'd much rather see a list / tree system where you can select markers. Basically when you double click the map, a tree dialog pops up being set up like this for example. In this case you would first click on Nato markers, with the tree expanding to Unknown, Infantry and so on. When you click on that you can select the side and which color you want. I'd requires a few extra clicks, but at least you get what you want without having to go through a list to find what you need.

Another thing I would like is to actually have a decent size compass next to the map. I have interface size on small and I really can't see the numbers on the compass anymore. Something else that would be nice is to be able to draw lines and circles + squares. An extra added feature for people that also have a GPS is measuring distances to certain markers (What you can do with shift click now, but seeing that can be disabled and doesn't make a lot of sense without a GPS). Also placing two random markers and checking the distance between those two.

is it just me or does no one else feel annoyed that there are no actual effects to wearing the tactical shades, the combat goggles other than whats strapped to your face.

i personally wear glasses and sunglasses, so theres a huge difference when i put sunglasses on. i would like to have the shades actually effect the world you see in 1st person and 3rd.

stuff like polarization should affect the way the game looks. bringing a necessity to make the glasses an actual meaningful choice of equipment instead of playing barbies with your soldier.

Can someone make a F-16, F15, F-22, (I think John Spartan is making his F-18 on ArmA 3 too) and MH-60L with fastrope integrated and cargo position?

I know it's a lot of work, but I'd like to see them in game.

All wheels retract.

Crew serve weapons at left and right crew chief positions.

Can be used in CAS role (look in Broch 2)

Maybe a Dog mod where a dog is in your squad and when he barks it still shows what he's saying in the subtitles in the corner (Friend's idea, im the messenger)

extending on the above:

a K9 operator, whose Dog can bark and have the triangles show up above explosives, and that can 'smel' enemies behind doors. (sit in front of door.. just an example)

I think he means as in giving the vehicles the same love the arma 3 vehicles got..wouldn't be hard to take the Humvee add in new steering wheel animations..put the sexy lights for night operations on there and maybe update the engine tones and the config file to be comparable with A3 and bam you got a fully ported and functional Humvee and that would make a lot of people happy to have more content in game. Idk just my two cents

This is an mod/addon request thread. Porting the content over would be time consuming. The complexity would be trivial though, for someone who is into porting mods.

I was chatting with a friend the other day and discussing what we could do with large naval vessels in Arma, and our preference for ground over naval combat. It eventually got on to how the nautical elements can be made more useful, as currently they seem rather limited to beach landings, counter-beach landings and little else. We decided a game mode not unlike that found in Battlefield, but with smashed together with Warfare would be glorious. It would require a collaboration of mods that are yet to be released, but hey, its a request thread and I'd love to see someone run with this:

Synopsis

Split the players into BLUFOR and OPFOR, as this is PvP, and one plays the role of attacker whilst the other defends. The mission stretches all across Altis, although this could be altered. At the start of the game, the defending team is randomly given maybe 8 zones to defend, out of a possible 20-50 locations. They must split and scramble their forces as they see appropriate and attempt to defend them, and the game is won if the defenders survive to the end of the mission with at least 50% of their zones under their own control.

The attackers will start out at sea aboard (again, future mods required) a carrier and maybe 1-2 naval destroyers. They will be randomly positioned in the sea, a minimum of 3km from shore, to allow for the defenders to begin their defences. The attacking team is given (maybe) 12 possible enemy locations that they believe to be targets, and must capture the enemy zone via destroying enemy strongpoints and with boots on the ground in a capturing mechanic not unlike that found in the Warfare game mode of A2. The attackers lose if they fail to destroy/capture 50% of the enemy's held locations either before a timer runs out or simply to the death. The attackers automatically lose the match if the carrier is destroyed, or both destroyers are sunk. This encourages the use of the under-utilised diver teams naval units and actually promotes them to a role of vital importance- defending or attacking the massive floating objectives that are the attacker's vessels as a strike team or patrolling the waters to deter others.

The game would present different challenges for each match as a different combination of zones would be selected, and the attackers spawn position randomisation would assist even further in this. Watching the coastlines would become a pretty vital part of the game- as one would expect from defending an island. Selectable income/respawn options are flavoured to taste. Voila, a pretty awesome server that can be run public or private with constantly shifting gameplay that keeps it interesting, without the removal of Arma's military ethos.

I can't script to save my life, and am rather inexperienced in map making. I'm not even 100% that the above would be possible, but if someone made it, I'm rather sure it would be a popular download.

EDIT: I also agree with SheepDog; we need a bus.

Arma Object Library

It would be nice to have a library where all community made vehicles, buildings, an other object where combined to one mod. It should be extened step by step.

Creators of content can send there stuff to the mod builders tehy will implement it to the mod.

All players (using this mod) will have the same content and don't have to download a mod for e.g. a mission with one extra custom vehicle in it.

What do you think about it?

Although NATO already has the Slammer/Merkava as it's MBT, I would like to see it receive a futuristic version of the Abrams to go along with it so since the U.S currently has no plans to retire the Abrams and the M1A2 is anticipated to be in service beyond 2050. Also it has been announced that General Dynamics and the U.S Army are working on the prototype for a M1A3 since the Abrams' planned replacement, the XM1202 Mounted Combat System was cancelled with recent budget cuts along with that I guess NATO could be given a modernized M1A2 to go with it as well.

And not to mention there has been an Abrams in every ARMA game since OFP.
