Why so few resistance mp players?

I've been trying to play some multiplayer OFP the last couple of days and there seem to be almost no Resistance players online. I know most people have it because everything new coming out for SP is Resistance compatible.

Last time I tried to find a Resistance MP game there were 0 Resistance players and 89 Cold War Crisis players according to Gamespy. Then I tried the built-in server finder in Resistance and that came up with three empty servers, two of which were locked.

So where are all the Resistance servers and players at?

Have you tried using "All Seeing Eye" to find players?

Change implementation to "sockets" and you should see more

Yea alot more people on servers then gamespy

Res is starting to pick up more and more as the clans continue to convert to res only.....hopefully soon every1 will have res and 1.46 will vanish

Havent played 1.46 since i got res..

Yeah, 1.46 is just too laggy. I don't know why people still play it.

I've heard about it, haven't tried it yet. I'll try that after I see if switching to sockets makes any difference.

also where abouts in the world r u, in the southern hemisphere i think there is only about 1 server which is in NZ and mostly empty or below 5 ppl.

The gamespy now for ofp is home to international players and stupid maps...

Right now 23:35 (GMT-1) All Seeing Eye reports 140 OFP Resistance servers (ver 1.75-1.91) and 489 players online. Personally I haven't loaded 1.46 since Resistance arrived

I only use the build in, i seem to find more games with that than with ASE.

Yep, the problem was that I was using Directplay, rather than Sockets. Once I switched, lots of servers showed up.

Please, define me "International". As I see in your profile, you are from USA, so the reason is Ovbious. YOU are the international!. Correct me if I´m wrong... BIS is based on Europe (although you probably don´t know were we are) So would be better for you to think twice before using "International" as a despective synonim of "foreign". Because if you havn´t noticed yet, there are much more "International" than USA players.

Regarding your "Stupid maps" apreciation. Again you seem not to think before talk. Those stupid maps are "standard" due to allow "anyone" to play without seeing the message "..unable to load mission" because you don´t have all the addons. It´s a shame but it´s reasonable.

So please, don´t be so fast to write and think before posting.

Personally I think some players stay on 1.46 because they use cheats. Res stopped the main cheat(cable cheating). Also stopped the cheat where you can hear people crawling 500 yards away....IMHO

I can never get ASE to work right or I would use it instead of Gamespy.

I live in the US too, and for me those European players would also be considered foreign. I mean, they literally are "foreign" to us, what else can you call them..."offshore players"?

Last time I played, I played about 6 games. 4 of those where with non-English speaking players and it was impossible to understand most of what they were saying during the game. I still dunno if they were cursing at me or congratulating me.

Awww leave the poor Americans alone, they only just discovered U.S.A isn't the only country on the planet and they are still coming to grips with it.

The best thing about OFP is playing with people from all over the world, they have different tactics and styles of play.

Then again I'm from Australia and we are fairly multicultural so I guess I don't have the same issues as some people

The best OFP session I´ve ever played, was a rare mixture:

2 from Spain

1 from England

1 from Germany

2 from Australia

1 from Japan

1 from Canada

We had the best Coop fight, we grouped and made the game as fun as I think it was thougt by BIS. Lots of people killing each other and having fun with no "Languaje problems". ( again some USA people doesn´t seem to understand anything but USA english"). So in general I think that the greatest fun comes from mixture and Internet games are to play worlwide not to be "the one´s in the world".

The only thing I don´t understand allready is why so many (not all of course) american people think that they are the only people in the word with rights to play over the net.... Does anyone know why?

I think becuz they think that the most amount of servers is on their continent, and that when an Euro even with dls connects they have a so not good ping that is believed to drag the performance of server down, that is y I think they think they r the only one with a right to play mp
