baker1976 10 Posted May 25, 2016 Hi, so what are the tools i need to start making mods for Arma 3?
domokun 515 Posted May 25, 2016 Amazing. Thanks SO much. A solid WW2 mod is the one mod that I really yearn for. BTW any chance of some partisans/resistance? I realise that it's a request but given that they have no uniforms, I'd hoped that it'd be easier than professional soldiers. A good short-cut might be to re-use the least modern-looking of the Arma 2 civilians (e.g. farmers, etc.) from the CUP Units pack.
wildcatbridge 377 Posted May 25, 2016 A good short-cut might be to re-use the least modern-looking of the Arma 2 civilians (e.g. farmers, etc.) from the CUP Units pack. bit like what I44 did for the french resistance in Arma
taro8 806 Posted May 25, 2016 bit like what I44 did for the french resistance in Arma 2 Remember to put berets on all of them :D. it's nice to see this mod released, it will at least let me create some simple battles, I really liked doing that with I44. BTW: Soviet soldiers are hard to identify as soviet, need wooden logs strapped to them.
karatekid 10 Posted May 25, 2016 Good job!But is there any chance to remove the flags/unit insignias? Currently they look absolutely unrealistic and kill the immersion :/
domokun 515 Posted May 25, 2016 bit like what I44 did for the french resistance in Arma 2 Wow I hadn't realised that. I guess great minds think alike ;) Remember to put berets on all of them :D. it's nice to see this mod released, it will at least let me create some simple battles, I really liked doing that with I44. BTW: Soviet soldiers are hard to identify as soviet, need wooden logs strapped to them. That'd be extra work I think but it'd certainly be better:

bad benson 1733 Posted May 25, 2016 really great man. just took a quick peek but already looks very solid. i love these compact little addons that allow you to switch it up in a friend session without having to have a giant mod (although i'm looking forward to all the ww2 stuff coming) this plus the recent Pecher terrain = red orchestra feels. someone make a mission with that combo! Hate 232 Posted May 27, 2016 Humble notes: 1. The Wehrmacht NCO or officer shouldn't have a death's head skull on his peaked cap, that was SS or Panzer only to my esteemed knowledge. I'm pretty sure the cap would look more like this: http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m8zj7wpg3b1r3gfw3o1_500.jpg If that link doesn't load, my B fam. 2. The Bar should be single/burst/auto, no? It has been so in every other game I've played, so I've always presumed it had those fire modes in reality. 3. Some of the Germans appear to be wearing two belts--I can see two Eagle buckles. It's a great mod, it has even greater promise. I'm particularly loving the 'light' Germans with the closed-stock MP40s, they make terrific goons. 10/10 would yolo again
ayjay 117 Posted May 27, 2016 Shame that this great mod and the Iron Front Preview mod won't work together. Could've had a fine mix of uniforms. :(
irving_mainway 105 Posted May 27, 2016 2. The Bar should be single/burst/auto, no? It has been so in every other game I've played, so I've always presumed it had those fire modes in reality. You're sort of right here, but not about the burst. To the best of my knowledge, no BAR had a burst fire mechanism. That being said, the gun was select-fire between semi and full auto (three position fire selector safety, S-for Safe, F-for Fire and A-for Auto) and almost all of them in WW2 were fitted with a rate reducer which could be toggled between 300-450 rpm in slow and 500-650 rpm in rapid rate. This was mainly done to help prevent the barrels from heating up as fast as they would on rapid fire, they would be on slow most of the time and only go to rapid fire in cases of emergency. Edit / correction: After looking into this further, it looks like the M1918A2 version of the BAR which was the standard going into WW2 (it was introduced in 1938, and initially was not a new production gun but a retrofit / upgrade to existing M1918/M1918A1 guns) did not have a semi-auto mode, just the slow and fast rates of full auto fire. The M1918A2 accounts for most but not all BARs used in WW2. Some unmodified WW1-era M1918s (which would have been select-fire, semi or fast full auto) still existed but were mostly kept to second line service. Aside from the rate-reducer, the biggest differences between the initial version and the A2 was the barrel-mounted bi-pod (which ironically was often discarded by troops to save weight) and hinged butt-plate which was only present on the A2s.
