N.o.R.S.u 0 Posted October 24, 2002 Sounds good , but could you make these files as separate downloads. I mean I already have good sounds in my Sound.pbo but that second pbo with all new features sounds good. I have good connection so 37megs wont take very long but for modem users it would be nice to see separated downloads . Keep up the good work.

There are lot´s of new sounds compared for all previous versions so i won´t list them here. It would be a long list. Just try it out and see for yourself.<span id='postcolor'> What is meant by this? The sounds were reverbed somehow? Distorted, or limited? Hmmm, I hope there is no huge echo effect.
USMC Sniper 0 Posted October 24, 2002 Are the pistol sounds separate from the normal sound.pbo? I really want to replace those pistol sounds!
ACES_KEVIN 0 Posted October 24, 2002 Good question sniper. I hope so too. Im testin this pack as we speak so far so good Kevin Keep up the good work!
Goeth 0 Posted October 24, 2002 New sounds in Sound pbo. - Tank engines - Cannons - Explosions - m2 - Less annoying combat ambience sounds - Less annoying sirens - UH60 - Raining effects - Bullet ricochet - Bullet hit flesh - Death/wounded sound - New collision sound for vehicles - mp5 - A10 - Reload sounds for assault rifles That´s about it, there might be something i forgot. And yes those tank cannons and explosions have echoes, i like the sounds to have some echo. But that might not suite everyone.
Placebo 29 Posted October 25, 2002 Please post this in So what is the undisputable best sound mod addon? No point really having sound pack threads all over the place
Placebo 29 Posted October 25, 2002 Opening again.... With hindsight (and badgering from a certain flying Finn ) I've decided it would be prudent to let this have it's own thread for now so that proper feedback can be provided
Assault (CAN) 1 Posted October 25, 2002 As with other soundpacks, compatability is a problem in MP. I really liked the Kylliki realism pack, that is really well done. You guys should advertise it more. Tyler
edc 0 Posted October 25, 2002 DOes it change the M16/M4 sounds because I can't stand the default ones.
edc 0 Posted October 25, 2002 OK I d/led it and here are my suggestions: Make the MP5 sound go slower-the sound goes a lot Faster   than it actually fires. Change the revolver sound back to what it origonally was or to some thing else. Maybe change the M-60 Overall it was really, really good.
CrunchyFrog 0 Posted October 25, 2002 Hmmm, I tried the pack and the first thing that came to my mind was: WTF, these MG-sounds are bloody FuX0r3d! These MG sound loops are really crappy, it sounds like it fires two rounds, when you fire one... The loop doesnt fit
Goeth 0 Posted October 25, 2002 CrunchyFrog i perfectly understand that you don´t like those sounds, those sounds need some echoes but i can´t add it unless BIS tweaks their config a little bit like making the m60, pk and m2 soundContinuous=0;. I asked that in some of my post and sofar no luck. But let´s hope that in next patch that issue is solved. If it is then i´m surely gonna update it. And edc that mp5 fires as fast as bis made it so i can´t change that. These sound reflects my taste how they should sound and i think making a pack that pleases everybody is almost impossible to make, but i hope somebody find this worth of downloading. Making the PK/M60/M2 sound good is all but impossible with the way the sounds are setup now.
-CCCP-Stalker 0 Posted October 25, 2002 The best sound of M60 is in Kylikki previous sound mod (I think it is installed on my PC)
miles teg 1 Posted October 25, 2002 Another big problem with all of these sound mods is simply that they are .pbo addons. I haven't tested any of these out yet, but I imagine that they will eat into limited RAM required by addons. So for those of us who have ALOT of addons and say, 256megs or RAM, I imagine that it my force us to throw out a lot of addons, or simply not to download the sound pack. Also to the MG's.... Personally I thought that the new PK machine gun sound in the Resistance expansion pack sounded fantastic. Same with the new AK sounds. The M60 of coarse could use some improving but from I understand this new soundpack kinda screws it up? If so then just leave it as a stock BIS sound. In other words please don't replace the sound if you can't improve upon it. Finally one last thing. One of my favorite things in Satchels sound pack was how you can hear the "whistling" sound of shells going by when tanks shoot in your direction. I don't know how Satchel did that but it sounds incredible in his soundpack. I hope that is included in this one. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>

Try the same battle with a decent sound addon and it just transforms it into an atmospheric, tense engagement, like watching Saving Private Ryan with Dolby Digital 5.1 speakers. That's why the first addon to take up some of my RAM will always be a soundpack.

So that's you won't see them in normal sound pack . *EDIT* A small suggestion Goeth, could you edit the config.cpp in SoundLDDK.pbo so that FN FAL and HKG3 have right equip pics (the ones in O.pbo are mixed w_fal.paa=hkg3 pic and w_hkg3=fn fal pic). Anyway, I have not tried it yet, I'll post my opinion in this actual post when I try it. EDIT; after a short battle... mixed impressions Good IMO: The tank cannon stuff sounds good, GREAT sounds for pain, nice MG's in tanks Bad IMO: Too much reverb on almost everything, handgun sounds are from movies or something (should be more like firecracker pops (ie original)), chopper cannon sound is good (loop is bad)... high pitch sound after RPG hits... MBT engines sound odd generally it sounds like everything is happening in an empty city... lots of echoes
edc 0 Posted October 25, 2002 Instead of editing the rate of fire of the MP5 couldn't you just edit the sound so it sounds like its shooting at the same speed it is ingame. Maybe you could have a non-MP version that changes the MGs and that whistling sound, and other stuff for people who don't play multiplayer-because I have tons of games that have multiplayer and I've never once played multiplayer on any of them. I had completely forgot what I did last night! It's good, I like most of the sounds, I think the handguns still need to be more like little pops. EDIT: After playing around with proper sound setting I can tell you, GREAT JOB! I definately like the pack as a whole! V80 sound is so nice, rocket launching is really good also. I'm going to leave it installed... thank you.
Goeth 0 Posted October 27, 2002 I should have mentioned in the readme that eax don´t work with this pack very well. I also tried these sounds with eax enabled and they sounded a bit funky , that´s my bad sorry. And for N.o.R.S.u´s request i updated SoundLDDK.pbo so that now there are right equip pics for FN-FAL and HG G3A4. Both zip files in the first post now includes updated SoundLDDK.pbo
