Arma 3 - APEX - NEWS and SPECULATIONS

Recommended Posts

I know the F88 is our standard issue rifle but I'd like to hope that in another 14-15 years we're using something else.

Hence my mention of the EF88/F90, if only because it's visually distinct enough to not be 'just' a Steyr AUG just like the F2000 Tactical was the basis for the Mk20 (visually differing in rail placement and trigger guard/forearm shape).

I do however think that if they use the EF88/F90 that it will be for the indep forces. I don't think that NATO will recieve new weapons as the MX is the 'standard issue' rifle for the NATO, I think we will see some shiny new jungle camo for the MX series. as for CSAT as they seem to have the Katiba as the 'standard issue' rifle i guess they will stick with the same ol' black paintscheme (maybe some retextures for like the navid, rahim, gm6, and that other machinegun... can't remember the name now lol).

Incidentally the F90 already has the 'baseline, (shorter) carbine, and UGL' trio common to vanilla Arma 3 assault rifles, with the addition of a longer-barrel variant with or without the UGL. Oh, and you're thinking of the Zafir re: the CSAT machine gun.

seeing how bis did everything so far in campaings I guess 4, there is no concrete info but main missions so far like the one where you have to go to the crashed blackfoot is done by a 4 man team, and the entire A2 coop campaing was also 4 player coop

BTW, in the campaign, would you prefer play NATO again, or CSAT?

I doubt there's gonna be a NATO operation there, I'd go for an ANZUS (another US faction, aka NATO retexture, with South Pacific name) :P

Well honestly, you never know. Could involve the Phillippines, Singapore, or Japan, given its in the Pacific, and because Japan is a Maratime ally of the U.S. With growing military flexibility, it could be involved. it's to early to rule out much, given the South Pacific holds a lot of interesting possibilities.

Sorry if I am reading this wrong but you stated ANZUS was another U.S Faction? No. ANZUS is the combined force of Australia, New Zealand AND the U.S not just the U.S itself, I am hoping for some Aussie units personally but that is my opinion.

On the other hand, "another US faction, aka NATO retexture" may imply cynicism about just how 'original' the a new faction would be assets-wise EDIT: beyond the LSV(s) and VTOL, that is.

About that, I really hope there is not an other copy/paste syndrome.

I think its most of our fears...

That and lack of content for the expansion.

On another point. I just didn't want to be the odd want out months from now with no Apex, maybe miss all the highlights regards stuff released on DEV. So I bought into Apex last week. I would have liked to have waited for reveals, but its very quiet. Too quiet. Again not sure why other then the mentioned we want to be sure we can pull it off. But I did get a reply indirectly from Petr on Twitter that the next reveal may be on Tanoa. At least thats how I understood it. As for when...well hurry up and lets wait.

Yep, as for the "scenario" I do belive BIS is going to utilize the current situation where tensions are growing in the west pasific.

My guess for content is there will be three new factions utilizing a lot of retextures. One Asian CSAT, one local Indfor/guerilla and some sort of Western Nato. A handful of new vic:s suitable for the jungle environment and maybe a few new guns (for the local faction).

I really hope for a new OPFOR faction that don´t look like aliens and VTOL fighter for BLUFOR.

jone_kone I think at this stage you likely correct. I had hoped for the Chinese PLA versus the US Marines and a local faction either sympathetic to CSAT or NATO or two. I am not sure how many Asian Head models are in Arsenal. I think there is 3. Or two so they would just need the Englihised Asian dialog. If they want to go down that route. Pity its not actual real Mandarin. Likely the F35 may make an appearance. Wasn't that cut? There are Mods for that tough. But a faction specific fast mover may be needed. People have asked for Dog fights.

CSAT now that I think of it can easily-by BIS standards-be brought into Tanoa with a new Jungle camo. That...a new arm patch and maybe a new assault rifle. Maybe a new MG for them. If they time strapped they can just apply a greenish OD green texture on the existing weapons to make them pass for jungle.  I have even generated jungle variants of their Hex camo. Just flat 2D textures. So CSAT with new textures in Tanoa wont be too hard. Just the new models of the OPFOR assets; their VTOL or LSV or new weapons. That may take some time. Even the existing vehicles can be brought over by simply applying a Jungle green hex texture. They have the source files in layers.

There is also already a Jungle version of MTP from Multicam. Again its re-photoshopping the existing NATO MTP/ Scorpion 2 textures. Applying a flat OD green texture to said NATO vehicles. Likely the cut XM 25 may show up and a new MG. There was a pic taken a while back with Matt Lightfoot with the US Army. So likely a M240B. There was also a image of a modernized M249SAW someone had dug up in the ArmA3 source files. NATO never had a medium MG unless you count the MXSW. So likely we may see cut stuff returning. With a few bells and whistles.

It all comes down to how much work I guess the art guys put into Apex.

Misty Ronin has also said that likely we may see more Spec Ops small unit type stuff. Again its doable.

Guys... Believe it or not, I know it's sketch, but I had a dream that BI staged the new shaders on Dev Branch, and every time I looked at the water, I got like 8 FPS.

darksidesixofficial...should we laugh or cry? I am sorry I laughed. Its quite near and dear to my heart.

Well talk on the town is you may need to get that 980 or Titan card. I have tried to ask what Specs they-(the DEV's)-run internally. That would be a good idea on what to aim for. But no computer is created equally. So maybe the devs have average rigs and then some beasts when they knock this stuff out. You would laugh if you heard what I try run Arma 3 on LOL. But anyway...we will pray with you darksidesixofficial

Hehe, personally, I run Arma 3 on a Lenovo Y500, GT650M, with an Intel I7. I hit 60 FPS in single player on standard-high settings, and some things on Ultra like clouds, lighting and textures. Though, I am saving up for a better PC to help with multiplayer, but I'm still trying to figure out just what the hell to get. As for visuals, I think any card that can run BF4 on Ultra will do fine for Arma 3 Apex, but I will never go lower than an Intel I7 for Arma 3.

Holy crap! That is the exact same laptop I have for on-the-road gaming. It has fine speakers and plays A3 decently, as long as you keep visual distance moderate, make sure that SLI is active and keep the power plugged in. I recently thought about adding an SSD, I think that will increase its lifespan and Arma performance.

:)
