M1117 Guardian ASV light armored vehicle

Recommended Posts

Tag_blx would like to introduce the M1117 'Guardian' ASV for Arma3

GBU2.jpg

What is it?

The M1117 ASV is an American built 4 x 4 Light Armored Vehicle.

In US service it is issued to the Military Police for duties such as base protection

and convoy escort (hence Armored Security Vehicle).

It is also used by other nations in a security role.

Armed with a .50cal machine gun and 40mm grenade launcher in a one man turret

the manufacturers also point out it's usefulness as a fire support platform.

It has a crew of three plus room for one passenger/detainee. ;)

What do you get?

Under BLUFOR > NATO > Armored : Vehicles in Desert and Woodland camo.

Under IND > UNPOL > Armored : Vehicle in UN white camo.

Known 'Features'

Some of the doors and hatches open.

This is cosmetic only at the moment, meaning the crew cannot turn out.

Current Version:

1.1

Changelog:

[Fixed] wrong path on machine gun proxy

[Fixed] machine gun particles showing in the wrong place

Released under licence:

There are other versions, transport (driver, commander, and +8 troopers)?

there maybe, but cleggy hasn't made them. There is enough work to make one addon, and an awesome addon it is :)

Hi guys or gals, thanks for the replies, likes and interest - much appreciated.

And thanks to Foxhound and Sonsalt for the hosting.

I'll try and address some of the salient points raised so far:

You sexy beast you!

True Dat - tho' I can't help thinking you were looking in the mirror when you typed that

A few errors as there seems to be a zasleh proxy from the ridgeback :D

(not as important) 21:51:57 Warning: Convex component representing Slide not found

Well, it wouldn't be a Cleggy release without the odd c*ck up :P

The zasleh proxy is obviously fixable but I may wait a bit before releasing a fix-

to see if anything else bubbles to the surface ....

The convex component error I was aware of - tho' I couldn't convince myself

it was my addon causing it - I have nothing relating to 'slide' in the model so bit of a mystery that one.

Looks good. Any plans for variants? Command and Control, ambulance, ect?

There are other versions, transport (driver, commander, and +8 troopers)?

As far as I know these variants are based on the vehicle with an extended wheelbase and roof line -

which would mean a fair amount of rebuilding so I don't know - basically I made the wrong model ... :)

Great addon man, I just have one problem. The 40mm fires, but the 50 cal doesn't...... Anyone else experiencing this?

Nice stuff, Cleggy. This might have been asked before, but any interest in offering your work for incorporation into RHS's mod?

I hope Cleggy doesn't mind if I answer this question for him: Yes, no, maybe...

That's the reason, you don't have one but the game wants to have one. In the Geometry Phys LOD, create a selection for the Hull (only needs to be the bottom part of the hull if you have it divided into multiple parts, otherwise just select the entire hull). Name that selection   "Slide". Problem solved ;)

tbh Mistyronin and Gurdy have been very supportive of this little project from day one

so it's probably the best home for it - assuming it gets through QA at RHS that is .... :o

That's a new one - not come across that before - I will bow to your superior knowledge

and give it a go - cheers Mr X

I wouldn't mind if it was accurate as long as they were practical. Maybe even a ATGM variant? :D

Ok, I removed everything but CBA and ACE3 and the 50 cal works fine. Now I have to add all of my mod's to see which one is conflicting with your vehicles. I did get an error though with just CBA and ACE3. It had to do with the Commander's Optics.....

I really like these vehicles, I think they would work really well for escorts on a convoy mission or even as a light fire support vehicle

Do you plan on adding a turn out ability (Atleast for the gunner) Or will you be leaving them as is?

After a bit of research it seems that there are a bunch of options for both the short wheelbase

and long wheelbase versions. So many, in fact, that my brain has turned to mush ...

RWS and Javelin launcher tho', hmmm ....

I appreciate your time on this. I have tried it with CBA and ACE, but will await your results with trepidation ...

I would like the crew to be able to turn out but:

1) potential for clipping issues with the turret for the driver and commander.

In RL I think the turret is either rotated or the barrels elevated when turned out -

can't get the AI to know that!

2) I would need to do some more custom animations and I'm only just getting into that.

3) I would need to do some more modelling for the interior because more of it is visible

if you look around while turned out.

so in short - yes, no, maybe  :)
