Operation Trebuchet - Total conversion mod for Arma 3

hey gents, sorry for posting so infrequent as of late. pretty busy with school, work, and getting the mod ready. I just updated the first post with some information regarding planned terrain, give it a look and feel free to comment on it. hope you enjoy the idea.

No problem, we know you guys are working Hard.

About terrains, those are some quite good ideas. I mean, if you just give us a big terrain that needs to be filled, the community can came up with anything you can imagine. "hey lets add blood gulch valley here, or the silent cartographer island, maybe a space elevator next to the lake, outposts, etc.. So much creativity.

thats the idea, if the community says something along the lines of "we should have a road heading south from location A and about 4 km south create another town. next update you should see at least a road heading out that way with some containers at the build site. imagine this being your colony, expanding on a distant planet :)

I really like the community involvement you guys are doing. For me, it makes me feel more important and have a bigger say in the development of the mod's assets.

I can't wait to help out with the terrain :D

*chirp chirp* quiet around here huh... well here are some updated images of the falcon. rvmats in place and its looking good. currently working on tweaking things on the model and of course the coding aspect. overall very functional little bugger, and very fun to fly.

Very nice!

Part of it probably has to do with there being no release of OPTRE yet. Once that happens, you"ll get new blood and old people from TEI.

Alternate falcon textures are coming in next update as well! This includes a tan, black, and white variant :) Speaking of all things white, you'll be able to access a snow camouflage for army personnel in the coming update of OPTREB.

Neat. Is it going to be all white or a mixture of white and greens like the Norwegian camo

Would it be possible to have "invisible" AI gunner (like in drones) for the Falcon? This would make the cannon bit more useful and player would still have an option to use manual fire. Dunno about ejecting mechanics and such.

...the most well known reasons as to why spartans aren't being added is because you can't change the height of a player model (at least that's what I was told), it would be very difficult if not impossible to add in an efficient energy shield system...

Just putting this out there, a full-sized Spartan II with energy shields is definitely possible...

True.

There's two possible ways of approaching a non-standard character.Create the base model with expected proportions and height,then a custom set of animations to suit.Or create a base model conforming to the rough layout of a default man,then scale up an existing set of animations.

Tedious.But possible. :)

I never said it was completely impossible, I said it would be very difficult if not impossible. I'm sure someone would be able to make something that's like an energy shield and function as one, but I don't think it would be a very efficient system. I think arma's engine would limit you in the process of creating an energy shield system EXACTLY like the one in halo and making it function as fluidly. If you think it's possible to make a fluid and efficient energy shield system then explain to me how exactly you would do that. I'm not being a smart-ass here btw I'm just genuinely curious because I have a friend who has been experimenting with energy shields and has had no luck so far.

gents another update of whats to come in this release, finally added in snow units for the people using custom maps (bushlurkers strange worlds map used for these screenshots). also you can see another color variant of the falcon ;)

Will there be any Spartan 1s or would it be too complicated to add them? AFAIK, they'd just use black body suits or ODST armor, and would use normal human models. They'd just...have more stamina/carrying capacity and maybe less felt recoil.

So halo Spartan Strike is pretty good. The New Mombasa levels are really detailed And pretty and really gives you a scope of how bit the conflict for it was. So many ODSTs everywhere too. It really felt like every ship in orbit dropped their load of ODSTs on New Mombasa when MC was romping around. But you fight on the other side of the city for you see the scarab and MC chasing it on a tank approaching your side when your fighting on a skyscraper

Know what we need. A Warhammer 40k mod. There was an amazing one for Arma 2. Was watching a Baneblade take On a whole battalion of tanks by it's self and bulldozing them into the air lol

I hope to have more awesome moment in this mod as I did for the last one. Here's a video of the experiences I hope to experience again when this mod releases. :D
