will there be an MSO like we had in arma 2 ?

 

ALiVE is the successor to MSO, by the same devs. By setting up an ALiVE insurgency mission, you are essentially recreating an MSO scenario.

Hey everyone,

Sorry I have not been around lately, I have been dealing with some medical issues that I won't go into detail on. I do plan on making a full recovery but that's looking like another 2-4 weeks. I understand the inconvenience of having a broken mission and I really do apologize. It pains me that I have not been able to further develop this game mode or even work on Alive mod. I have so many good idea's but my body just doesn't want to work with me. We'll get through it!

Thanks so much for your kind words and I am glad that some of you have had a really good time playing the mission.

Hey, i have been playig around with moving this onto CLAfghan - not changed anything other than the location of the base to suit clafghan and the items spawned in as intel (removed the camera as it was too small to see at times) but trying to run this on our dedicated server doent allow us to pick up the intel...

 

well it picks it up but does not display any map markers or notifications to say contained no location of cache in this intel...

 

EDIT:

i changed back the spawned intel items and it works again....i guess i can cope with small intel items?

ya ... i normally do share missions, it's just that the readme for Hazey's original mission files and it's really specific about not allowing for distribution of any kind. 

 

i want to respect the author's intent. 

 

the Mission License states the following;

i guess i am asking for a second opinion here ... would PM'g the modified mission to a single person be considered in violation of this license? 
 
i don't think Hazey is posting much to this thread these days but if you are, if you are Hazey and want to chime in on this, i would really appreciate it.

Pretty sure Hazey agreed to lift the license which is why Savage (ALiVE contributor) linked to Maquez's insurgency missions. I'll see if I can get clarification on that. BRB.

Battleboys | Insurgency | ACE

Given that it was mentioned that Hazey relaxed the prohibition on sharing modded versions of his excellent ALiVE Insurgency mission core features, I have included my group's version of the missions we run on Takistan and Zargabad.

We are a small group, as such the mission is limited to 8 players - Emphasis is on fun. Resources are limited, but respawns, respawn on group and all of the ACE functions are available. Anyone that wants to edit My Insurgency are welcome to but must give credit to the Alive Dev Team and they must never ask for support haha.

How would I go about making a object an certified intel piece through the editor? I want to make some small camps that have a 100% of having 1 or 2 intel pieces.

So I ported the mission to the Unsung Vietnam mod's map, but the enemy seems to spawn in random locations and without provocation.

 

not trying to tell to you check "that it's plugged in" or other such obvious stuff, but when the ALiVE stuff starts to get weird the first thing i check is the variable name for each marker, ie. "TAOR_1" could now be labelled "TAOR_1_1" after a cut and paste. 

 

as well, the ALiVE wiki supported maps;

lists Da Krong BUT DOES NOT list Duong as a compatible map (just hasn't been indexed yet) ... that might be your problem. normally if a map isn't supported you get nothing at mission start, just an endless load screen. that behaviour may have changed however given that the game seems to now handle missing addons differently as well. 

 

anyway, without more info to go on, those are two possibilities.

I've used Da Krong to attempt to make many ALiVE missions. West faction is not set up at all and only the NVA and Civs are set up for ALiVE btw, you will need to create a config for the mission to classify the West and VC into groupings like vanilla. There's a guide to this on the ALiVE Wiki under declaring faction groupings or something like that. Da Krong worked flawlessly, just not the units; this was also in Unsung Bravo and in Charlie they updated the terrain so it might need re-indexing? I'm not sure how the indexing goes though, so it could not matter since no new villages or outposts were placed just the vegetation and probably some landscape adjustments here and there to accommodate the Tanoa vegetation.

Was wondering about this:

  • ALiVE Persistent

Does that mean that the cache hunt is persistent with alive even after restarts? Havent been able to figure out what to turn on to get this feature.

Would be awesome if we can keep hunting even after restart since we are a small group.

Hello, Just wondering if anyone would know why I am unable to load this mission in the editor? I have placed it in both the mission folders but when I click open in the editor it doesn't show anything being in either of those folders.
