Tex -USMC- 0 Posted September 19, 2002 Basically, I want to get the opinion of the community as a whole as to whether OFP:Resistance v1.75 lived up to its role as the product that would keep the OFP Franchise going into next year. Seeing as how it was released about 4 months ago, and with a new patch on the horizon (hopefully), I think now would be a good time for a postmortem. Keep it civil, dissent is tolerated, flaming is not. (Note to mods: I ran this through the Search Engine several times with varying combinations of "OFPR, Resistance, opinions, reviews, ratings, etc", and was unable to find anything resembling this. My apologies if I screwed up and this is a dupe topic)
Espectro (DayZ) 0 Posted September 19, 2002 Overall the expansion pack is/was great, I just wish the campaign wasnt rushed as much as it is. I still miss a campaign of the quality of 1985
Tex -USMC- 0 Posted September 19, 2002 That's odd, because in my opinion, the campaign was the strongest part of the addon (besides the new island- Nogova is obviously the crown jewel of the addon). It was cinematic, challenging, and not too corny. My gripes are confined to the sockets implementation, which is buggy and in many ways inferior (at this point) to the DPlay netcode, and some of the addon units and weapons, which I thought were a bit sloppy. theavonlady 2 Posted September 19, 2002 I think this topic should have been posted on the IS OFP DEAD thread. Got Resistance, played it, have a nice new island and pistols. The main question is where do we go from here? That's how I see it.
IceFire 0 Posted September 19, 2002 I can't wait to get Resistence! I will buy OFP GOTY edition when it comes out I hope!

Im not interested in that question just yet. I want to see what people think of Resistance now that theyve had a chance to evaluate it, and let the adrenaline die down. m79 0 Posted September 19, 2002 I bought it for the new island. I was a bit dismayed at the lack of extra USEFUL vehicles , but other then that I have not played the camp because of the bugs and basically have not even toured nogova yet , as i am saving it for the camp. So i could have in hindsight not got it and still be getting the same out of OFP that i do now. However all the addons are for 1.75 so that kinda forced me to get it as well. Ex-RoNiN 0 Posted September 19, 2002 Well, to be quite honest, the "weapons disappearing from your crates bug" killed it for me. I played the first 4 or 5 missions, then I couldn't progress properly/at all because I had lost my weapons cache. I am still waiting for a patch that fixes this so I can finally start playing it. Nogova is amazing, it is very well done and I really like that one. Features, such as opening doors, are very nice and add to the overall value.

But the most memoriable upgrade to OFP for me ever was the 1.20 -when the Apache arrived -A day I will never forget...
John C Flett 0 Posted September 19, 2002 I had a poll like this when Resistance was brand new and it got overwhelming support. People seem to have cooled a little since then, myself included. I still think it was a very good addon and I really like the new island and increased view distance. I do however feel the game is a little less stable since 1.75. I don't regret buying it in the least though and I still look forward to IL or whatever else BIS chose to offer us.
joltan 0 Posted September 19, 2002 I think the graphical enhancements, the new island, the improved handling of addons and those small enhancements to the mission editor are what I still like the most about Resistance. The campaign I never played (only the first 4-5 missions), as I'm in it for the mp. While the addon was definitely worth its money (I haven't even touched V1.46 since I installed the extension), it's not perfect. I'm a bit disappointed by the new netcode. No doubt it WAS an improvement over the old code, but it still has too many bugs and no ingame voice. I hope the patch will address these issues. Still, alltogether it's a must-have extension for everyone who likes OFP!
Antichrist 0 Posted September 19, 2002 Well I can say that I also was quite dissapointed in the campaign, but mostly due to that my hardrive is fuked and it takes ages to load a mission on Nogova. I had no problems with weapons dissapearing bug, cause there are heaps more of that stuff on the battlefield!!
interstat 0 Posted September 19, 2002 Flashpoint will keep on going, even if add on's aren't released. With Oxygen released hopefully some mods such as Vietnam and WWII will give Flashpoint more presence in the gaming community..(?)
vektorboson 8 Posted September 19, 2002 I liked of course the new scripting functions in Resi a lot! The drop-command to make your own sfx, the dialogs and other small gimmicks. I just hope that BIS keeps on implementing new scripting features!
SpaceAlex 0 Posted September 19, 2002 I like the Resistance campaign. Cutscenes are much better than those in the original. I also like the story, but i was really sad when Victor died. . I like that last cutscene though. I watch it all the time. Right now, i'm adding new missions to the campaign. Nogova is great. It looks very nice and realistic. Old islands are not what they were. Old spruces are so ugly, that i can't even think of them. Nogovian spruces are just too nice. I'm still playing on Malden and Everon though. Kolgujev is a bit too ugly now. Mister Frag 0 Posted September 19, 2002 I bought Resistance as soon as it came out in the US and love it, but I haven't played the campaign yet because of the bug that can cause all your goodies to disappear. I also don't use the sockets network code yet because it isn't as stable as DirectPlay, and lacks built-in VON capabilities. But the new island, weapons, and graphical enhancements have still made it worth purchasing, especially considering the fact that most of the new missions put out by the OFP community as set on Nogova. Resistance is the best Å16.99 i ever spent: *Wicked New Island! *Cool new music *Sadest ever ending *New graphical options i can try out on my celeron! *Nice new vehicles/guns *New netcode *And so on... This is an expansion pack for the fans. They've listened to us all and gave us (mostly) what we wanted. But the new editing options really do rock! ale2999 0 Posted September 19, 2002 ya I thought that resistance is pretty kool. I must consider myself pretty lucky because I didnt get caught in the disappear weapons thingy, as I was never afflicted by too many bugs in CWC or Rh.
edc 0 Posted September 19, 2002 I think resis. is pretty good. I'm hoping the patch will include some new weapons/vehicles in addition to fixing problems. It hasn't been near four months yet-not even three.
Jester983 0 Posted September 19, 2002 I love it. Although i stopped playing the campaign because of the wep bug. I think now people are going back to CWC because its less buggy. Which I dont blame them. I look forward to the arrival of the new patch. Thats exactly what Resistance needs. Now like avon said. "where do we go from here?" Well there is IL. Which we hardly know anything about it. IMO we should start hearing something about it within the end of the month. From what I read they said it would be released in Q4 of 2002. Well its Q3 and we arent hearing anything. So I guess the only thing to do is sit back and wait for some mods to come out. All we can do about IL is hope and pray for it. HellToupee 0 Posted September 20, 2002 i like resistance, its got lots new features i was dissapointed bout how many vechicles tho, but the net codes far far better than that Direct play lag fest, i jus hope they fix up the mp side of things fix the bugs and add JIP so i can play mp without the wait its been over a 2 weeks since my last mp game at ofp. Its sp is the best games like raven shield wont touch it, but mp needs jus a little improvment manily i belive JIP and the bugs which havnt been to bad from my few, i fcant see y ppl still use direct play, the won not there is a bonus and i would rather have a few hicups than play laggy games.
