chortles 263 Posted September 29, 2014 Ehhh... the problem is, do you have any solution for "locking" the UGV in place that isn't SQF? (I ask that more or less because of the devs' seeming public habit of running away from SQF-based solutions as far as their own content.)

MrHuachuca 10 Posted September 29, 2014 I mean to be honest I truly love the idea of these two new heli's coming November but the problem is, I truly miss the whole "classic" arma style with modern day vehicles like vanilla chinooks, blackhawks, etc. I love the huron but the new CSAT helicopter is a little freaky........ Dunno , the drop ship should be good fun with the new firing from vehicles. That and the view from them seats when the pilot is flying low fast and dangerous. How does it look freaky, it's a real helicopter, used by Russia/China. Of course it looks weird to some of us westerners because well, it's not made here. But I like what ever BI puts into Vanilla content as long as it exists in real life... Even though they may like putting their own twists/modifications on them. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/55/Kamov_Ka-226_MAKS_2005.jpg (607 kB)

What? If it looks way closer to a CH54 with dual rotor than to the Ka226, which BTW was used by the US Army and its civilian version are used in Europe too... Just check the cockpit and size is virtually exacly. Perfect western technology.

mistyronin 1181 Posted September 30, 2014 I'd be surprised if they aren't released for testing on dev-branch like all the other assets so far. We already have an answer on that: The release date for Arma 3 Helicopters has been announced as November 4th of this year. Initially estimated as late September, we've determined we need an extra month of tweaking before the package is splendid. Ahead of release, we will be staging the content on Dev-Branch (more details on how that will work in an upcoming report).

R0adki11 3949 Posted October 3, 2014 (edited) Why hasn't that link been removed yet? The inappropriate content has now been removed. I can understand your concern regarding the link, please bare in mind Moderators do have real lives also, which is why it has only just been acted upon. Thanks RK Edited October 3, 2014 by R0adki11
zakiechan 11 Posted October 4, 2014 I really like the new chopper. But I feel certain panels/features got changed just for the fun of it. The trapezoidal windows look kinda funny to me. I really like the swept back rotor tips and turbine engine housings though. That leaked shot from the rear makes it look amazing. Im hoping it will have increased troop capacity over the mohawk. There are some really nice ports of chinooks from arma 2, but I cant deny how excited I am for a vanilla rendition :)
chortles 263 Posted October 4, 2014 And keep in mind, the Huron is in because the artists and sandbox designers are Chinook fans according to RoyaltyinExile (or at least, it was a consensus answer as far as which transport helos they were really interested in and passionate about) in last week's dev livestream. (For anyone wondering, the choice of heavy transports instead of attack or other helicopter types was a conscious decision as well -- they figured that more varied gameplay for more players would be enabled by filling the heavy transport gap than other roles.) mistyronin 1181 Posted October 5, 2014 (edited) I think the Huron is nice... Now if it could only float on water :P Well the real CH47 Chinook can land on water for a limited time ( and not completely ). So it wouldn't be too far-fetched. For instance in Barcelona: Edited October 5, 2014 by MistyRonin

So it wouldn't be too far-fetched.For instance in Barcelona: The Mohawk, the real, and in game one can land in water as well if you know how to do it right. I would be happy if they would also implement landing in water with the Huron, and probably a little better capabilities with the Mohawk as well.

nodunit 397 Posted November 10, 2014 this choppa da bettahhttp://www.warandpeace.ru/photos/articles/art_40271.jpg Lets not start that, they are made for different purposes. I personally love the Huron, clearly designed with ideas taken from the stealth hawk . Four blades would have been neat to see but all things considered I just like how angular and "solid" it is, the interior is nice and sharp and the cockpit is exceptional, great resolution, visuals, and how could I not love the fact that all flight data including the advanced flight model is displayed on the various digital displays. It also has spinning rotory bits when the rotors are destroyed rather than the whole hub going poof :D.
kittykittybangbang 10 Posted November 10, 2014 I anticipate it to be no less than on par with the Ghosthawk and the Wipeout what comes to graphics.
