Arma 3 STABLE Server 2.18 "profiling / performance binary" feedback

Recommended Posts

Disabling "Intel Virtualization Technology" in the BIOS had absolutely no noticeable effect for me. I have noticed that the time between normal FPS and the sudden drop seems to depend a good bit on the number of mods that are loaded, with fewer mods giving longer normal performance until the frame rate degrades. I've also noticed that when starting a gaming session, that loading a saved game in an already started mission, seems to bring about the FPS drop quicker than starting a new mission from the beginning. This issue has gotten so annoying, that I'm probably going to stop playing until it is addressed. The only other option that I see is to go back to 1.58 until then but I don't know if I want to deal with that hassle.

Ya know a solution here is Time consuming for BI's  part.  But  since all mods get a server key, and a signature, It would be optimal if the mod was (torrent) on the server side so the load is with the game,/mission.  This would piss off mod builders who want permissions to use their mods for missions, but they could play with themselves without a server key, A server Key should entail A main Game (main frame) initialization, and run as part of the game. ( so signature mean good mods).

No joy on using legacy drivers from February (361.91). Noticed when the game's ram usage got to about 3,600mb, that's when it went crazy.

So even with loads of ram (32gb), this thing still tanks.  Looking like a memory management issue.

I think you're correct or at least on the right track.

I actually started getting this on other maps besides Tanoa as well (specifically maps from CUP terrains). But whenever this happens I'm guaranteed to get a memory leak that just keeps increasing the longer I try and play with the bug present until it fills all my RAM and crashes.

When this isn't happening the RAM fluctuates as its supposed to and stays within a normal level for the game. But as soon as the FPS bug appears, my memory just gets all messed up and it doesn't clear, even after I quit ARMA. I typically have to restart my PC for it to clear.

Also, which this supports your idea, I get this issue a lot more frequently when hosting, which makes since you use more RAM than a normal player to host the session. I'll try and see what level the usage gets to before the game flips out to see if there's any correlation.

I have the exact same issue. Suddenly my fps drops from like 40-50 to 3 and the game becomes unplayable and I have to restart the game (and most of the time this means that I can´t join the server again since it´s full...) Happens after ~1hr of gameplay, sometime less, sometimes more. The memory load increased and CPU + GPU decreases in usage when it happens.

I have reinstalled all drivers, reinstalled the game, tried all kinds of different startup parameters and mallocs, changed all kinds of ingame settings, etc, etc.

It happens both in SP and in MP, it happens all the time. I´m so sad about this issue  :(

My rig:

CPU: Intel i7 4790K 4Ghz

GPU: MSI 980 GTX Gaming

Memory: Corsair 16GB CL9 1600Mhz

OS: Win 10 64bit

HD: Samsung SSD 250GB for OS and a similar SSD 500GB for the game

MB: MSI Z97 Gaming 5

Just a small request to Bohemia. Can we get some type of feedback on how this investigation is going? Even if it's going nowhere because you're not getting enough crash logs to track down the problem, that would help as encourage more people to participate. I guess anything is better than nothing when it comes to some type of information.

The good news from my side is that with some of the latest profiling binaries I have not been experiencing the problem at all. So perhaps the problem has been identified and the fix is being prepared for the general release executable.

For those of us using the Profiling branch versions and no longer experiencing the FPS drop issue, do you want us to still perform FRAME captures and submit them?

Im busy  away from home base right now. The error stated 'access violation xx...  ( out of memory I guess)  I have Laptop 16 gb ddr4  use system allocators (w7) ,v15 perf client, Dual gpus, quad core machine. great fps for 45 minutes. then the drop.  I see the crash more using RHS mod, than using ACE3 mod. I always (almost) play with one or the other.   Server had no problems using original

1.60  and 2 Headless Clients.  Never dropped below 40 fps. 1 or  2 players though. I'll  see about the dumps  when I can.  thx.

rpts/dumps from moment of crash would be very helpful

v16

+ Data signature checks are now disabled for Headless Clients

Does this means that I can run a HC without any mods while the main server runs with mods ?

What is that and where do I find it?

when engine crashes it generates usually

.bidmp

.mdmp

files

+ the .RPT which is logfile ...

all 3 are needed, only in rare cases e.g. out of memory , the .mdmp is missing

but your files are w/o .bidmp which is unusual

I've never (ever) Seen a bidmp. Is there a chance it is recorded elsewhere ? I'll double check but pretty sure all I normally get are rpts. And the the mdmp os well on a crash. ?

RPT, MDMP and BIDMP files are in same folder ...

from moment when the crash happens ...

also both Your crashes were from Version: 1.62.137494

that's MAIN branch stable binary

not PROFILING branch performance binary (1.62.138108)

All Quiet..    U know-  I am away from interneet connection (gaming)  but using v15 on singleplayer, causes interaction with helis to break, Like v5 did break interaction with lifeless objects in EndGame etc.
