highhead 20 Posted March 22, 2014 ... unbelievable detailed report ... Hi, Could it be your systemfolders are hidden? As stated in the instructions you need to place it in c:\users\%user%\appdata\local folder hope that helps --------- PS: Thanks Foxhound!
logitrust 10 Posted March 22, 2014 (edited) hehe, better to be frugal vs. sloppy this regard. hope maybe this can help others serverhost amateurs like myself by describing in picture form .... on my local computer all folders are not hidden.. Should the alive.cfg be placed on the server or on my local computer/client? On the server if so be, it seams that its hidden since its not in the root directory where a3 is installed. il contact the host. GDent 10 Posted March 22, 2014 sorry for asking such a dumb question, but how do you spawn other civilian types with the civilian modules? for some reason I can only get Altians to spawn. also, is there civilian traffic between towns? I just think that would add a lot of ambiance, so I'm curious thank you
gulfy32 10 Posted March 22, 2014 I'm getting the error when loading one of my missions after adding the alive database module. The error files the RPT file until you shut the server off. Jackson Snow 10 Posted March 22, 2014 sorry for asking such a dumb question, but how do you spawn other civilian types with the civilian modules? for some reason I can only get Altians to spawn. also, is there civilian traffic between towns? I just think that would add a lot of ambiance, so I'm curiousthank you I think you need to enter the faction name in the module? I only have basic factions so can't be sure, but saw it say "CIV_F" (or similar) in one of the civilian modules - you'd probably need to put the faction name in there, from like the Aggressors mod or whatever. Don't remember which module it was so check the civilian module and the civilian placement module both...
GDent 10 Posted March 22, 2014 I did try that, but it still spawned Altians instead, and no ambient vehicles. I'll look again later, thank you
serjames 357 Posted March 22, 2014 if you are running the latest version of @caf_ag then you need to fill the civilian placement module with the correct civilian class name. e.g "caf_ag_me_civ" hope that helps SJ
GDent 10 Posted March 22, 2014 okay, I got it. I just didn't know the ambient and population modules worked together like that. also, it seems like the placement is somewhat sparse, even if I set it to extreme. is there a way to increase the number of civilians? I set the limit in the population module to 100, but that's just a maximum and it only spawns about 15 guys. I might want some towns more heavily populated, though it would admittedly hit the player FPS so I'd have to experiment thanks for your help

highhead 20 Posted March 22, 2014 Somthing it doesn't like, i think :P ........log Arma2net blaaahhhhh...... Instructions state... Step 4: Download and save the alive.cfg file to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\ALiVE. You may need to create the directory yourself, if it's not there. so... check if its in the ALiVE dir! also... Step 3: Download the @Arma2Net addon and extract the folder (... from the setup website...) into the Dedicated Server Arma 3 root folder. Add @Arma2Net to your mod line on your dedicated server. we have loads of groups and players in the meanwhile so believe me its working if done according to the instructions ;)
opendome 91 Posted March 22, 2014 Hello everyone! I seem to have some difficulty with suicide bombers (or lack there of), I've set hostility to extreme and left my player sitting in the middle of a populated town (had a mission with no OPFOR so I could test it) for pretty much all day but my player wasn't killed or anything. I see civilians walking around and occasionally get in their vehicles and drive but no rogues or suicide bombers. It's definitely not a big deal or anything but jsut something I've been messing with the past few days trying to get it to work. Also tried with OPFOR during a few 6 hour missions with friends but we didn't encounter any bombers or rogues, extreme hostility seemed to make all the civilians run away from us whether we were under small arms fire or just out patrolling. I wonder what I'm doing wrong lol I've gotta also say I'm really liking the civilians and convoys! They really mix it up where before my team would just engage the first person they saw they now to have to identify armed combatants and theres been a few times the convoys rolled through and caught them off guard lol. Really helps keep the game even more dynamic then it was before, also awesome the new the BLufor A-164 for CAS, so awesome to drop a GBU on the convoy and unleash Gustav hell and later having GAU runs tearing up enemy patrols. Outstanding job ALIVE team!!!! I really can't thank you enough for making Arma the greatest experience!

I then updated it manually by downloading it and installed it manually but I'm still seeing a version error when I join my mission. I did also go into the editor, load the mission after updating alive and re saved it. Did I miss something? Also, I'm still not seeing cqb offload to my HC. I know ARjay had said it was in the works but the change log for today said it was fixed?

This may need some tweaking. I recommend you do what I did during testing, just put down the civ modules, set the to extreme hostility to BLUFOR, and spawn in Kavala. Then watch the RPT through baretail. They won't attack you straight away and try to blow you to smithereens! I once had the civs gather for a meeting near me, I watched the RPT, one of them singled me out, and started to observe me. I was looking at all the civs trying to work out which one. I the saw in the rpt a certain civ switched to suicide mode. I still couldn't work out which one, then suddenly 3 moved towards me, my heart started racing I turned away and started walking away,I turned the corner and was met face first with another civ, then .........BOOM! GAME OVER! The unknown is what we have gone for here, the more realistic approach of your not always going to be targeted, but that thought in the back of your head that you could be! Even knowing its going to happen and then the unexpected is just damn right scary!
