Task Force Arrowhead Radio

Excellent mod! Really big fan of it and I use it for every mission I play! Makes the game so much more enjoyable!

I get an error, "o Task force radio Deployed on Server!" in game on my dedi box. but our Private user hosted servers work fine.

I have the same Problem, there is now a solution for this?

Are the diver's radio still work? In two separate missions we tried using it but heard only muffled sound.
Yes, works. How do you use it?

On one attempt we were all submerged in one submarine, on the second we were all diving freely close to each other and had re-breathers. We pushed the divers PTT (alt+caps if I recall, we checked the radio entry on the map). It was transmitting, however all we could hear is muffled, as if we are talking without a radio.

If you hear them muffled is because you were not talking with the transceiver.

Or you were talking in direct or trying to use the standard radio.

Let me emphasis the part you missed:

Are you sure you have used same frequencies?

We didn't check that... Aren't they suppose to have the same frequency if the divers in the same team when the mission start? If not, might be a good idea :)

just want to note

sometimes when i play with TFAR ArmA crashes because of a BEX error

seems to happen mostly when i switch out of the game or start the steam user interface (also its pretty random from the behaviour, some days it happens everytime, some days not even once and also has some sort of server dependency)

i know this does not helps much but thats all the info i got (ohh and some crash dumps i can provide if you want to)

what i'm saying is

forexample

There are A B C Three of people

While A talking to B with radio then B or C can't interupt the middle of transmission. it's quiet annoying that other can interupt in the middle of transmission.

All radios in this mod are realistic. Technology that allow communication in both ways simultaneously is called full-duplex radio.

Have some thoughts and plans about it. It is not easy: some of radios in mod support full dumplex mode (or full duplex emulation via time, ad hoc networks creation and so on), but we need to keep all teams balanced....

One issue I have been noticing is that when someone near you speaks over the radio, you will hear them both over the radio and locally ("shouting"). Which is fine, except it seems to make the volume about 2x as loud.

On the land this is merely annoying, but underwater (say, if you are next to someone in the sub and they talk over the UW radio) I get this massive clipping and distortion, as well as massive bass when they talk. I think it is the same issue as on land, but with the underwater filter which makes it really bassy. It almost sounded like my headphones were going to pop. :eek:

All radios in this mod are realistic. Technology that allow communication in both ways simultaneously is called full-duplex radio.

Very few radios actually support this since it requires a dual tuner/transmitter or it needs to be a digital voice network, which has had problems being deployed.

Most radios still are used in simplex or half duplex (depending on how they are setup and what terminology you are using) mode where you can only hear when you aren't transmitting.

Nonetheless, I think that this should be kept full duplex for gameplay reasons.

I agree, I don't think it would add anything to gameplay or how people use it, other than making the learning curve a little steeper for people.

Only 3 now, in dev version it is already possible to create your own backpack using small additional mod.

Yes, but more and more of ad hoc digital network radios come... Maybe it is good idea to make it optional feature...

Could you try to decrease volume in TS options and increase in Windows settings?

I guess I'll play with it a bit...currently I have to boost TS volume and turn down ArmA 3 volume already to hear over the in-game sounds.

Nevertheless, I'm not really sure "local" audio should be heard underwater in the first place.
