U.C.S.V. Cargo & Support Drone

Recommended Posts

ok perhaps I'm a bit slow :p - how does one actually use the drones? I move the unit over a vehicle but don't get any options (action menu) to attach it to the UAV

Yes I am using the script version.. I've tried as a UAV operator with the vehicle manned/unmanned.. still no go. I'm sure it's something glaringly obvious that will force me to FPDR once I find out.

I had a little trouble at first - Make sure you're over a vehicle class it can pick up and then you need to hover just a little off the ground above the vehicle. Don't touch the ground, as that removes the attach action. It should then show up in the action list.

Ah.. this must be where I failed... I was probably still touching the ground. Thanks!!

I'm going to remove the restriction, that the vehicle has to be on the ground. thanks for pointing this out. :)

Are you still there mp5gosu? any more plans? :D

Yea, I am. :D

Currently I'm very busy, so it will take some time to finish it completely. Clients come first unfortunately. ;)

Also, changes are not that simple - I'm optimizing literally anything. Future plans are as stated in first post.

cheers!

Maybe you could just release the signatures for the script version? Shouldn't take too long and that way, we could already use them online.

Hey, have you made any progress with this mod? Could you at least provide these signatures for the scripted version?

Hey there,

sorry for being so quiet. I'm currently very busy getting my client's jobs done.

I recently finished the new model and resolution LODs though. If I can find some time, I will provide the signatures this weekend.

The new version will take some weeks I guess, I'll inform anybody when it's done.

cheers!

This is an absolutely cracking Mod, chap. Love it to bits.

My clan has tested the UCSV to death (literally...some of our chaps thought it'd be fun to ride along in the vehicles we hooked) and found a few MP issues.

First off, we used the scripted variant in order to support our long-range paradrops, the idea being that the UCSVs would bring in UGVs containing extra ammunition and weapons. Which was fun :)

However, when testing on a hosted server and a dedicated server, we encountered the same issue. Only the chap who built the map could activate the "Hook" and "Release" Action Menu entries. This is an easily overcome obstacle - we just make sure whomever builds the map runs the UAV. This, however, is not always possible for obvious reasons.

We tried inserting Game Logics of various forms, even tried having the 'authorised' chap release control and someone else take over - all to no avail.

So, we're happy to say we have your mod working as part of our clan's pack, with the above restrictions. If you're able to make the mod more MP-friendly, we would be in your debt.

We have TS and a website, which I won't post here as I'm unsure if the Mods would think I'm advertising - strikes me as a little rude to do so anyway. If you want to come and chat, send me a PM.

Thanks again for this excellent mod!

Awesome mod, feels really appropriate to the setting. Great addition for "behind enemy lines" and long range patrols types of missions.

Just one small thing: don't you think it should actually have more yaw and roll authority, than pitch? Roll must be easily achievable by changing thrust of left/right engines slightly; yaw control - by changing nacelle angle. Now it has good pitch control and everything else is lacking.

Hi Guys,

sorry for my long abstinence - I still have lots to do in my job.

@nathanRedbeard: I assumed this would happen, so I created a version with no script - this can be used by some awesome hooking scripts that are around. Nevertheless, I will take alook into this problem.

Glad that you like the mod. :)

@DarkWanderer: The next version will come with heli-maneurability, this should be more convenient when flying at low speeds/altitude. Currently this model uses the VTOL 3 approach, which comes with almost no flexibility/configurability. This hasn't been changed since A2. There are derivates of helicopter classes that try to mimic VTOL aircraft - but this is more like a bad hack.

I'm currently engaged for the next few weeks (or even days), then I will be finishing the new model (hopefully with the new tools :) )

Cheers,

mp5

Hey mod author, this may seem like a stupid question, but how do I attach a vehicle to this drone? Great mod, though I can't seem to get around this basic this, haha. By the way, I also noticed a small bug:

Once the player connects his UAV terminal to your vehicle, no matter wheter the vehicle is on or off, once you leave it's controls, it will turn on and fly away on it's own.

love it to death. i've got the same question as the bloke above me (using the non-script version). from what i read you are planning on implementing a way to toggle between heli mode and plane mode, yes? superb mod thus far, keep it up!

hey nathan, I've got a few questions here.

We're trying to use it in MP as a team shared addon but can't get it to hook up any vehicle, our scripter doesn't know what's wrong and neither do we. So basically we were wondering which version to use on the server side and which on the client side and with which script strings attached to which side

basically we have no idea how to use the core functionality of the ucsv, if you have any help to provide it would be very welcome because we're scratching our heads right now :p

Head scratching here, too....

Tried noscript since I use BTC Logistics I thought that would do the trick.... Nupe.

Tried script version and still see nothing indicating how to pick up a load. No userconfig that I see that would add anything.

I am at a loss.

Sorted... It's tricky because the vehicle is not very stable and the engagement envelope is very small. If only auto-hover would really auto-hover.
