BasileyOne 10 Posted August 2, 2012 (edited) well, with THAT scale of development and sales, soon DayZ start pushing aside even EU, FoM and -alike ;) BIS just need robust billing system to attach to it and lotsa of tools for socialization[like built-in messenger/mail system, built-in and two-way auctions/market, gates to social networks], bigger island and lot of code polishing/generalization. MavericK96 0 Posted August 2, 2012 IMHO the better they manage to break the game or uncover its flaws, the better in general. It provides very good debugging information if it's forwarded to us through CIT, or if constructive threads about certain design elements are made. I agree, though I wonder how many DayZ players have actually provided useful information via the CIT or sending RPTs, etc.
Overlord 0 Posted August 3, 2012 Now that BIS is making a shit load of money because of DayZ its just another reason to not rush the release of ArmA 3. What's wrong with making money? Not all of us have parents paying for our joy, and BIS, for sure, wanna pay their employees. W0lle wrote: This thread is to thank BIS, not for Discussion about whatever and surely not about DayZ or A3 development +1 IMO BIS do a great job in this segment, which isn't actually game, but a military simulator. If anyone see benefits in using their engine in developing games, it's even better. Maybe, in a far future (but before spaceships), they actually got the nerves to take on ArmA2 ;)

ArmA 2 is somewhere between a military simulator and a shooter game.

froggyluv 2136 Posted August 3, 2012 Oh no. Not the 'Arma is a GAME no it's a F***in simulation!!!!' debate. You'll get a more satisfying resolution watching a cat chase its tail then this one..
^Th0mas^ 10 Posted August 6, 2012 Looks like DayZ will reach one million players today, so another congrats to BIS.
Onjin 1 Posted August 7, 2012 Either way, I think it might be good for the ARMA community anyhow. Let's be frank, DayZ fits perfectly for the ARMA engine, and thus makes it shine for new players. If even a portion of all these new players would get into regular ARMA gameplay, it would be great for our community. I hope with all of my body that ARMA III will be a top seller. Even better, I hope it will steal a chunk of Battlefield and Cod costumers, so that the industry had to pay attention. We need more developers making good games, Bohemia is pretty much alone in that aspect. I am a new player to ArmA, in fact I am downloading it now after playing the demo. I do not plan to play DayZ at all. Zombies are cool and such, however, I don't believe they belong in a game like this. You can find me on steam under Onjin_Dog. I do need to practice, so I will be doing campaign first after tutorials. See you on the battlefield soon.

zimms 22 Posted August 7, 2012 http://dayzdev.tumblr.com/post/28904791570/the-end-of-the-beginning I love to hear that, we ArmA players will surely profit from it. Go BIS!

This proves why modding support is could be so important in games. I guess it feels good to make so much money on a ArmA because of a mod they officially didnt release, but because of modding they now will do! :)
grub 10 Posted August 8, 2012 Anything that you can fit into the Arma-verse in a mod, fits. Zombies, ponies, transatlantic cross dressers, whatever. The point is, people are buying Arma and BIS is finally getting some cash. So what if people only play DayZ. IMHO, it keeps the side chat conversations about Justin Bieber down on A2 public servers. I hope BIS release A3, then do an OpF and leave it for ages to be modded to the bug-house (no pun intended) while they work on A4 or something else. I could easily play A2 for as long as I played OpF. The point is, regardless of why people are purchasing A2, BIS are getting some long awaited kudos. The main thing BIS need to focus on now (and I highly doubt this will ever happen), is remaining a little fish in a big pond and not sell out. Much love BIS.
