rye1 21 Posted January 7, 2012 Hi I'm your brain and I say buy them ALL!
celery 8 Posted January 7, 2012 Look at the checklist: http://www.arma2.com/free Reinforcements is a standalone bundle of the 2 DLCs with OA content included but no SP missions or campaign. Combined Operations is the best choice to get the most content and compatibility.

LOL. Theres another thread somewhere "Why isnt this game more popular" above is the answer.I say go to the source http://www.sprocketidea.com/joomla/index.php?page=shop.product_details&product_id=33&category_id=2&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=
mrcash2009 0 Posted January 7, 2012 I'd say Combined Ops & the DLC's (best DLC for me is BAF), or Arma X. Link above is sprocket, if you going to buy download id advise sprocket, becuase that's direct to the BIS fund wise, steam etc can be a delay with patches, wheres as sprocket is simply the data and the key which then means you can use all download patches rather than any waiting (as close to physical purchase process as you can get in terms of no other background login processes when playing the game). JojoTheSlayer 35 Posted January 7, 2012 Go for Combined Operations (Arma2+OA)Or buy ARMA X (every Arma game from the last ten years) Agree. If you dont buy Combined operations or something similar that contain both the base game and its stand alone expansion and you like they game you will probably pay more in total by getting the rest later. Another thing is that if you are into MP gaming you really need Combined to be able to play on the better servers. That said I recommend finding communities within the bar "arcade vs realism" level you like.
snaiperskaya 10 Posted January 7, 2012 What about buying ArmA X?
wipman 1 Posted January 7, 2012 Hi, for enjoy the game without loose anything, i'll recommend you to buy (on disc): - ArmA2. - ArmA2 Operation Arrowhead. - ArmA2 Reinforcements. - ArmA2 Private Military Company. With all that you've more than enough to play in SP and get to be good enough to play in MP knowing the mechanics and you'll also have alot of MP servers where play with much more players than with just the ArmA2 Free or the ArmA2. Let's C ya
NoRailgunner 0 Posted January 7, 2012 ArmA X is the greatest All-in-One MilGames_BIS_Edition! Including all games + expansions/DLCs. http://www.sprocketidea.com/joomla/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=sprocket.tpl&product_id=41&category_id=15&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=
Trapper 0 Posted January 8, 2012 (edited) ive been playing arma free for awhile now and its time to make a purchase. But im not sure which one to buy since theirs to many of them lol.. Reinforcements looks good, any ideas? Man you're right. Looks like BIS is about to do the next faux pas in publishing this great game by releasing every kind of stand-alone packs where even veteran players can't tell how they'll will be compatible to each other. Your selection would be the latest DLCs combined to a stand alone ArmA2 Version. This would probably leave you missing most of the community releases and mp as they are made by veteran players and will often rely on the "base" game islands/units. So in contrary to any suggestions let me tell you the title history to my knowledge: ArmA2 ArmA2 Operation Arrowhead Stand-Alone (Engine improvements, Campaign, Islands, Units for desert warfare. Can be mixed up with an existing installation of ArmA2 to ArmA2 Combined Operations) DLC British Armed Forces for Arrowhead (Small Campaign, small island, BAF Units) DLC Private Military Contractors for Arrowhead (Small Campaign, small hi-def island, PMC Units) Both DLCs are not required for multiplayer or user missions, as they are patched for free into the game with the low quality textures you already know from Arma2 free. cadmium77 16 Posted January 9, 2012 I was looking at Steam but I don't want to have to log into Steam to play. Do you just download it and install it and play it or do you have to be running Steam to play?
Trapper 0 Posted January 10, 2012 I can't really tell you if the Steam offline mode would work with ArmA2. PS: Oh but if you don't own Arma2 in Steam you won't be able to create a "CombinedOperations" installation AFAIK. But you can also buy&download on http://www.sprocketidea.com/joomla/ without using Steam at all. Or just buy the games on disc? For sure ArmA2 is not a game requiring Steam, it became just another store to publish it after a while.
cjgsicknote 10 Posted January 10, 2012 Get arma x. All the arma games in one box done. I came straight from the consoles without any pc experience and found arma x to be pretty simple to set up with launcher and six updater. Easy!

I came straight from the consoles without any pc experience and found arma x to be pretty simple to set up with launcher and six updater. Easy! And here ladys and gentleman we have a man that has proven his intelligence more than once. He steped into the glorious world of PC gaming. He has shown his fine taste by going for the best FPS out there and proved his wisdom by buying the whole series at once. And finally he manages to do what so many newcomers call hard and frustrating by using a launcher and six updater. Now if said men discovers the beauty of ACE Mod I will have no choice but to believe that mankind is not totally stupid and that there is still hope left. :p

Thanks guys and special mention to tibbo. see you all on the battlefield. if i can do it then anyone can! ---------- Post added at 01:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:44 PM ---------- just to re-iterate to op: BUY ARMA X!.seriously though for £34.99 you really cant go wrong. for less than you would pay for a console game you get arma gold, arma 2, arma cwc (original flashpoint if im not mistaken), operation arrowhead, british armed forces, private military company and eagle wing. UNBELIEVABLE VALUE! YOU WONT BE DISSAPOINTED!

It is quite sad that newcomers must use 3rd party software to fully utilize the game.
