Does Pakistan really have what it takes to fight the US?

Recommended Posts

With all the recent troubles between America and Pakistan, the question is do you really think that Pakistan can be a force against America?

they have said they will retaliate with force this time but its still said by many as actions speak louder than words! after 24 Pakistan troops

were killed by American forces 2 weeks ago this is a time where relations are at breaking point.

Maybe a 2 way war in 2012 against Iran and Pakistan?

What is your opinion?

Well I was counting the days till the next war will pop up again, and this wile the red cross is debating the Geneva convention in video games  anyway thats a other topic. To be honest Pakistan will not have the power to stand there own against American forces because they will not just fight against America, there allies will bound to align with them at some point. Not only that looking at the equipment and recourses I don't think Pakistan will be up to it to handle such a war. However if Iran will fit in all of this it might get some trouble, a lot of American lives will be lost yet again :( but I have the feeling that even that scenario will be over come by the Americans and their allies.

But hey who will know it for sure, I think we just have to see and wait like we always need to do in such events ... and it might also be that Pakistan just tries to speak louder just because they are thinking that they are not being heard loud enough? :D

Kind regards

Pakistan is allied with the US in the popular press and in reality they have been fighting a proxy war against the US since the invasion of Afghanistan.

You see Afghanistan is in Pakistans backyard, just like against the Soviets Pakistan want to be able to control the whole situation.

The Taliban originated in Pakistan..... enough said.

All th talk of attacking Nato following the killing of the border troops is for there own people, they won't openly attack Nato.

Iran is another story and is already discussed in length elsewhere in this forum.

USA have right to kill some sand bastards every once in a while.

Why?

Because every sand bastard is possible terrorist.

And if they oppose?

Let's go to war.

Seriously guys, are you that eager for another US war? I'm sick of you.

Hi all

Factors in play:

Pakistan has control of NATO's supply lines into Afghanistan.

America is on the verge of making too many enemies.

Alliances are fluctuating.

Other nations manipulate the USA.

Political power is moving away from nation states and companies, the traditional brokers of power.

Kind regards walker

its initially planned[right before Pakis acquire HUGE batch of AA stuff and tanks, which spoils US DoD calculations/plans], as before. not Afghanistan entered before to cover deployment/activity here. so US move here eventually, snath Pakistan WMD[which they have, to constrast with iraq, Iran or probably DPRK]and fly home.

USA won't attack Pakistan because Pakistan also happens to be China's buffer state and they have nukes. The world is to inner connected these days for a war to pop up just like that.

Can Pakistan be a force against the US - No.

Complaining about their 24 troops? What about their covert support for the Taliban for the last 10 years? 2,744 coalition deaths in Afghanistan, that includes 1,774 US deaths. All the command & control, training, funding and arming of the Taliban occurs in Pakistan.

They like to talk big but it's all show and they are just as corrupt and dishonest as many of their neighbours and allies.

thats why they definitely had less direct approach to "problem" than direct offense. maybe they take out/disable nukes 1st, for example ?

which is they trying last 10 years[or even trying to get some reliable info], w/o success.

China will never help Pakistan, never! and as for North Korea they wont help them either but everyone else thinks otherwise. The only war or fighting that

is going to ever be done by China is against Japan as for what they did to China in the past, its never been forgotten. 2nd would be to take back Taiwan, and

issue that China just wont give up on.

Pakistan is a nuclear power. It can destroy all U.S. conventional forces that pose a threat to it.

Perhaps even the odd U.S. city or two.

As I understand it, the population wants war with America (and vice versa) but their respective governments don't.

What hopes would they be?

I like Pakis and Yanks both.

My hopes are for the Yanks going home ASAP so that our troops can go home ASAP too.

You wat a war with Pakistan? Knock yourself out. We shan't be joining in.

Noooo, the respective populations (if by population, you mean the loudest complainers with non-fringe views) want absolute disengagement. Pakistanis want the U.S. to stop violating their sovereignty and bombarding their territory (gee whiz), and Americans want to stop paying millions of dollars for the privilege of being double-crossed.

Of course. Overthrowing Middle Eastern governments that actually sponsor terror is dangerous.

What I don't understand is why they're simultaneously harboring and fighting the terrorists. Maybe a Paki civil war is more likely.

I'd look at it as do they really have what it takes to us and more of a do they really HAVE to fight us.

Afghanistan, Iraq, possibly Iran and now Pakistan?

As long as the war continues we give them billions of dollars each year in aid. Funding the Taliban doesn't cost much at all. The rest can be pocketed. Has anyone asked them for any receipts? The Pakistani government and military are making a tidy profit out of all this - they are corrupt to the core. They have allowed 1000s of their own people to cross the border and die in Afghanistan, all for money, sickening isn't it. They did the same thing with the Russians, no one asked for receipts back then either.

The US has funded the Taliban well before 9/11 and have never stopped to do so. It's all a US creation and quitze obviously there are US subdivisions that want it that way.

The US has never funded the Taliban - they funded the Mujahideen that fought against the Russians. The Taliban were largely created and funded by the Pakistani ISI.

Please read up on this - you are confusing two different things that ocurred decades apart.

Sorry, but guys like Osama Bin laden where named Mujahedin back in that times. A name shift for a division does nothing to the facts happening before.

Taliban are just Mujahedin, Mujahedin (arab: the one that fights the holy war) is no denomination exclusive to Taliban or Afghanistan. The Taliban where just one of the groups of mujahedin back in 1the 80's. There is a reason why the Taliban won the fight about supremacy after the Russian left, and that reason simply was that the Taliban were the far superior group of all Mujahedin with the best support.

You know yourself that it is not quite easy the get hands on CIA papers to have some proof but signs and evidence is ans was all over the newspapers...you can still gooogle it. One side claims this, one sind claims that...what persists is the doubts and for sure in such cases the truth lies in the middle of it.

The CIA supported the mujahedin via Pakistan and Pakistan supported the Taliban, a mujahedin group... now sum it up.

The Reagan administration funded the mujahideen in Afghanistan as well as their Islamist supporters in Pakistan. In the mid-1990s the Taliban was the only force in Afghanistan capable of guaranteeing another US interest in the region — potential oil pipelines.
