hellfire257 3 Posted March 22, 2012 I haven't played BF3 for ages! It got too repetitive and frustrating for me. If it had mod tools though, the outcome would have been vastly different. Oh well, more fool them.
onlyrazor 11 Posted March 22, 2012 So, the game's been lagging pretty badly for me over the past month. After several minutes of painstaking research, I managed to nail it down to my outdated BIOS with staggering (5%) accuracy. Hopefully, it will now work. jw custom 56 Posted March 23, 2012 Dan;2123063']I was going to buy BF3 on origin' date=' but I downloaded and installed Origin and it just keeps saying Origin has stopped working before I can even log in. Anybody else had this issue or know how to fix it? (google didn't bring much)(also I reinstalled several times and no joy)[/quote']Try running Origin as admin, also try disable whatever AV/firewall programs you have running to see if theres a problem there. Flash Thunder 10 Posted March 26, 2012 (edited) I picked the game up but for xbox 360. And god it's a mess to play on Standard definition.... I can barely see things 20 feet away, and the game is forced to run in widescreen so my small 20 inch tv is more like a 12 inch screen now. if it wasn't due to my mates nagging me to buy it on console I would've just bought it for PC and dealt with all the origin BS and problems. game is running at 480 on about 12 inches of screen and it still can't hold a solid 30fps even with all the fake visual trickery and baked lighting. FPDR God consoles need a huge upgrade already! Yep a nice waste of 80 dollars. Wont be touching it again. Edited March 26, 2012 by Flash Thunder

[evo] dan 79 Posted March 26, 2012 Try running Origin as admin, also try disable whatever AV/firewall programs you have running to see if theres a problem there. Not turning my firewall off just to let origin run, I guess if my firewall and anti-virus is blocking it, it has a good reason. Looks like I wont ever be buying another EA game then, especially after they destroyed C & C and the GAME group.
boneboys 0 Posted March 26, 2012 I had to "allow" BF3 in Avast to get things to work, this mostly concerned matchmaking challenges and as far as I am aware applies only to Avast.

I'm pretty sure your computer will survive a few minutes with Origin running.
Baff1 0 Posted March 26, 2012 If it's anything like Steam, any time I launch it I just start swearing. LMAO. My sister bought me a copy of BF3 for my birthday. Good old girl, I'm just waiting for a set of parts of me new Eyefinity setup and I'll be giving it a test run at the end of the week. I'm going to look into that software I heard of "Sandboxie"? The one that stops Origin tipping off EA about my donkey porn. That sounds like my kind of paranoia pleasing utility. I hope it works, I don't fancy getting raided by the RSPCA that much. viper[cww] 14 Posted March 27, 2012 If it had mod tools though, the outcome would have been vastly different. Oh well, more fool them. As a business point of view they have made a smart move, why let people make stuff and distribute it for free, when you can make mediocre stuff labelled as 'Destruction HD', 'Super Huge Never Seen Before Maps' for £10-20 each time. At the end of the day if they made mod tools available it would ruin EA's profit margins, and that's all they care about. Unfortunately.

This business of selling half a game for $60.00 and then releasing the other half in dribs and drabs for $10.00 a shot is really out of control now. I wish they would just go back to the days of expansions which would provide another ~20 hours of original content (not content that was part of the original game) for $20-30 as opposed to this legalized thievery. I don't have any problems with people making money but it was a lot better for gamers when there was a mix of creativity and capitalism as opposed to unbridled greed. The line in the sand that you're drawing between "a mix of creativity and capitalism" and "unbridled greed" is completely arbitrary. These "half games" selling for $60 are extremely popular; clearly, the model is being accepted by consumers.

I dont get the whole anti-EA/DICE thing for them trying to make money, they arent forcing you to buy this stuff, like every other company on the planet they are trying to make money off their product I wouldn't blame anyone selling its workforce, or any company big or small selling its products simply because their are trading in exchange for money... this is not what we have at hand. The flak EA/DICE are getting originates in their fraudulent business practice of advertising one thing and selling another. They advertized a sequel to an estabilished series, including specific features which have not ultimately been delivered. This is bate and switch against "vulnerable" consumers (kids with his dad's cc for a good part). In civilized country(ies) where justice works, they would be appropriately out of business already (the fun thing is that EA shows itself so greedy that this may come about without actual justice interfering) fraud/frôd/Noun: 1. Wrongful or criminal deception intended to result in financial or personal gain. 2. A person or thing intended to deceive others, typically by unjustifiably claiming or being credited with accomplishments or qualities. Synonyms: cheat - deceit - deception - swindle - humbug - fake here

Baff1 0 Posted March 28, 2012 (edited) What a piss take this game is to install!!! estimated over 30 hours. Add this to the 3 hours it's already taken me to register it so that I could download it. I was expecting Origin to be bad, and it truely is. Well over a half a week to install a game from a disc. Diabolical. Edited March 28, 2012 by Baff1

It's about dishonest and nefarious business practices that quite clearly border the 'grey' area of most western consumer laws. Obviously, most big companies/corporations perpetrate this kind of nonsense with impunity because they have the money to squash anyone who challenges them (revenue generated from the aforementioned dishonest and nefarious business practices). ---------- Post added at 10:24 ---------- Previous post was at 10:17 ---------- What a piss take this game is to install!!!estimated over 30 hours. Diabolical. What's even funnier is how the morons at EA actually think this is a challenger for Steam  And for those that say Steam was that bad when it released, simply put - no it wasn't. Steam had teething problems but it was never as bad as Origin and EA have had the benefit of many years to study the proper implementation of a digital distribution system, unlike Steam that pioneered it. Make sure it's actually installing from the disc, if your doing a full download it will take a lot of time. The update is around 1.7gb if i remember correctly so that will take some time depending on your internet connection. If you have used 30+ hours installing from a disc then lol. Baff1 0 Posted March 28, 2012 (edited) It's not actaully downloading off my disc at all. That would be far too easy. The disc just gives me some Error message that EA isn't intrested in and that Google has provided no cure for. Getting funnier and funnier, estimated DL time, is now 100 hours. So that's at least 4 days. Hahahah. And another patch after that you say! I can't wait. If services like this and Steam are the future of PC gaming, I think I'll stick with my olden but Golden titles or change platform. £5 says if I had pirated BF3, I'd be playing by now. If they can do it for class/weapon unlocks they don't be surprised if they do this in the near future. I'm not anti-DICE just anti-EA since they have wrecked many great titles in the last two years or so, they are a multi-million pound organisation, they should be happy with making money of the initial product, instead they have to bleed dry the product for $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. Ten years from now, I doubt any of us will be gaming, when this happens.
