Still no 3d scopes?

Recommended Posts

After having watched the latest video from the E3, i was a bit dissapointed to see that the view when looking through a scoped weapon is still unchanged.

I really hope that we will see real 3d scopes in Arma3 ,and that they will be done right with the center of the screen zoomed and then the corners of the screens showing the outside of the scope unzoomed, not like in BF3 where the whole screen is zoomed even though the scope is only in the center.

I believe that some addon makers tried to make something like that in Arma2 but couldn' t due to an engine limitation. With the apparently vast list of changes done to the engine, i hope that it will now be possible.

And while we are on the subject of sights, i also hope that something will be done to better simulate the fact that red dot sights and holographic sights are designed to be used with both eyes open, so that we don' t have an aimpoint or an eotech that takes up half the screen when looking through it.

Thank you for having read this till the end.

Seeing as Render to Texture was not implemented yet it may still be added in a later stage.

As Nemesis has said, IB confirmed render-to-texture would be in but that it wasn't implemented in that demo version. Unknown if it will support 3d scopes when it's implemented.

the new animation system wasnt in that demo either doesnt mean its not going to be in the final product....

Have some patience.

I was also a bit disappointed that the game was not yet completed at E3. It's quite disturbing knowing that what they showed at E3 is all we're going to get.

Render to Texture

Thanks, i forgot what it was called. So it will be possible, but wasn' t the case here because render to texture is not yet implemented in the demo. So there is still some hope for proper 3d scopes then, good to know.

Thanks for the answers.

I didn' t knew about the fact that the new animations system wasn' t in the demo, and i am being patient, it' s just that i thought that seeing the scopes this way in the demo pretty much sealed the deal for the scopes in the completed game.

Well, they did show a little extra that could be in Arma 3 with Take on Helicopters. Like the take off thing with interior interaction, they had military helicopters for a mainly "civilian" game based on the Arma 3 engine???

Volumetric skyline. The game would include extra damaging on crashing etc, roters would fly off and so on. Who knows if this is to some extent also going to be in Arma 3 as well...

:yeahthat:

I am putting my faith in RTT. But seeing as it is not yet implemented, I feel it is worth pressing the issue. This is the only thing I noticed in the video that was not positive. Well that and that gravity seemed low, but that seems like an obvious fix.

And yet you've come to this conclusion at least a YEAR before it's release? You must be psychic!!

Any post with an emote is a 50/50 sarcasm, however chances are great if the post has :p ;) then that becomes a 90% chance it is a sarcastic post.

I think you missed the sarcasm in his post.

I guess I did. I didn't know I had to read every post 3 times to tell if the poster is serious, 50/50, or 90% sarcastic...

These boards are getting more and more obtuse every day lol

Either way, my apologies (no sarcasm intended)

Make that :p means to a 50 50 as well, usually used in a case of 'play' to indicate the person isn't meaning to insult you..or at least insult too much, then again it can also be mocking...oh wonderful internet language..

Instead of keep saying we need 3D scope how about asking BI to acturally find a way to fix for real parallax effects reflex sights?

What would be best if they make arma3 to support 3d glasses. Then they could make fully functional aimpoints/reflex and so on.

I havent tried but I read that arma2's shadows and smoke doesnt work that good in 3d, and then the sights are ofcourse shown for both eyes ;)

FPDR

Thats 2 different feature we are talking about here, 3D scope can be done by RTT with (might be huge) performance impact while the other is more about fixing glitch. If I would have to choose I will go for fixing the reflex sight first.

Are you really matter of the holographic reflex sight more than the weapon, comrade? A lot of us don't even find a huge problem playing airsoft with replica reflex sight that can be bought in Apliu Street. If these reflex dot is you center of the world, so be it. I'd rather keep myself buffed up and aimed well with ALL the scopes I have to be used with, not the red dot-ness.

Thats why you just have no idea about how a "real" reflex sight work?

Afterall, airsoft don't even have a proper recoil for you to feel the effect:j:

Because we don't have to be technical to fight, instead, have gun and arms to fight.

Yes, don't forget the battery as well.

Collimator sights don´t work in Arma. There were some workarounds that were possible in A1, but they were prone to breaking depending on the gfx technology you used. In A2, they were completely impossible again.

So I myself am rather holding out for 3D scopes. Collimator sights probably will never work in Arma, and they don´t need to, unless headbob as in Arma 2 v.1 is introduced again.

By batterys do you mean these?

If so then I have been spending some $270 HKD every few month for these little things to put on my trusty little 6P and HS2-A-BK.

But thats OT I am afraid

Parallax Effect works in ArmA2 , look at plane's HUD - with this method could be able to create into weapon sights too ,but no idea if someone that method tried - anyway it needs more attention from BIS devs

i hope they will be able to add 3D scope too
