Arma 3: Confirmed features | info & discussion

Recommended Posts

Very interesting caliber - 6.5x38 mm Grendel - never heard that much about it ,but sounds alot better than 5.56×45mm

And it will still be a niche round 20 years from now since no one is going to give up the 5.56 or 7.62 in foreseeable future.

About 5.56 yes :-/

These 6.5 and 6.8 are very good - if we could drop the 5.56 and add these heh :p

Yes :)

I just read an article about whole SOCOM PSR competition, they are very different weapons, belive me ;] But they do look similiar, yes...

EDIT: Here you have AI AX338:

http://www.knesekguns.com/commercial/images/accuracy-international-AX338.jpg

also looks similiar - I think it's just the way how modern sniper rifles are made.

On no, no moar 5.56, what shall we do? How could have Czech developers used some ammo they could have tested (no more pictures this time :icon_twisted:)?

I am still surprised that PurePassion hasn't found out loadout of RAH yet, after all the discussion :icon_twisted:

DAGR? xD

M302 cannon (or something) + DAGR HEDP/*add more warhead types here* + Stingers (at least it looked like 'em)

yup! as we saw it in the gameplay, you were able to lock it on to a target. so its definitely a guided missile.

It was made to replace the 5.56, not 7.62. The results on Wikipedia (which are official, with FBI protocol - wow, proper research on Wikipedia? I know right) show great wound effects on soft tissue. Very fast fragmentation and yaw effects on 2-3 inches into soft tissue. That's shallow wound capabilities but it still goes on to penetrate a whole 19 inches - easily enough to get to the vital organs and arteries from all angles.

Small, unconventional unit. They may or may not use these - and we're talking about the future... in an all-out-war.

I can't wait to kick some ass with these rounds.

Watching the guided video, I would say ArmA III is the real Unreal...

I bet my arse it's the APKWS II .

That was my first impression from watching the E3 footage. The guided weapons he's firing appear to be guided FFARs and not the adjacent hellfires.

Although technically APKWS II isn't a new rocket, it's an upgrade for existing Hydras. Still it would make perfect sense for it to appear in ArmA 3.

Should also add DAGR to the list of weapons, or maybe make an armament section.

Only just read this post above mine, you can see during the Comanche part of the GT vid that the selected weapon is DAGR.

And that ammunition type, 6.5x39mm (Grendel). Maybe an ammunition sub-section.

I'm suprised they didn't include any photo's of it together with the M299

Unless there is another NATO ish attack helicopter than the commanche though I don't see it being used, doesn't have the setup unless they add a winged version.

The Tiger is fielded by the French, German, Spanish & Australian defence forces, 3 of those are in the AO so we may well see the Tiger in A3, also the M299 is "...planned for integration on Tiger and Cobra helicopters...". The Tiger may still be in active service in 2025ish given that it's first production flight was in 2003 and first operational deployment in 2009.
