September 1939 Mod

Recommended Posts

Yes, it is.

I only do hope we would be able to pull this off and are not facing a situation in which we're not able to swallow what we're chewing.

Anyway, Due to the fact that the crew working on the mod is tiny I'd have to ask to arm yourselves with patience. This all will surely take a longer while... Perhaps we will be able to polish the infantry, so it can be released in September as a little teaser ;) Don't quote me on this one though. Experience tought me not to make any promises ;)

Especially now, when we're busy with implementing something... well, just a little unsignificant addition...

:whistle:

Great to see progress here!

http://wpk.p.lodz.pl/~bolas/main/bitwy/mokra/mapmokra.jpg

Recently I've been to the fields of Mokra where on 1st-IX-39 our army faced the German army. That was one hell of a fight, Germans lost around 100 tanks and 800 men on that day! Tanks rolled in the open under barrage of artillery and precise AT Bofors guns belonging to Wolynska Cavalry Brigade. Not to mention skilled command of 53rd Armoured Train "Smialy" which allowed to bombard the German forces pretty heavy while they were resupplying in the nearby woods. Some soldiers were issued with the wz.39 AT rifle, relatively small 7.92 (but heavily powered long bullet) was enough to punch through the Pz I & II armor, whack the engine and kill the crewmen.

Hey topas, if you got some time mate check out the book by Woloszanski - "Honor Zolnierza" (2009). He describes and evaluates the battle of Mokra in a pretty good way. Here's a video episode on Mokra from his TV programme http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5_8-JAfcwQ

Will you include Armata wz. 02/26 (prawoslawna) ? Sources are saying about 02/26 and Bofors used during the battle of Mokra.

Not only at the battle of Mokra, with a total number of 02/26 cannons being nearly 500... well, sounds like it's worth adding.

Thx for the info.

@ProfTournesol

Not so hasty, or you injure yourself ;)

Glad you like it. I'm also preparing some other variations;

Here a wounded infantryman as well, but also a tired one, after a hard fight:

The most striking thing about this mod is the way it replicates the unique atmosphere of that time period, it feels like something so long ago was brought back, but obviously in the form of a simulation mod.

Excellent job Topas and the W'39 team, this is one I look forward to.

Thanks THX-1338. What I shown is probably the beginning of W39_jency.pbo (POWs). We want to be historically correct, so we must include some of such characters. Some other variations without gear, pouches etc will surely follow to depict disarmed and captured troops too.

Looking at that picture above... OLive blouses and dark blue pants there?

Need a serious course in the pre '41 RKKA uniforms soon...

It moves, in a somewhat unnatural way, for now. But it is rideable, even for two ;)

Credit goes to danosbeano and DMC (The actual Modeler) from the "Project Reality Team", Dziękujemy :notworthy:

And what we show here, is the result of the whole team's work and shows some great input of other community members. I just have the pleasure of being the spokesman of the group, so no 'my lord'-ing please :D

Great ! Was about time that horses appear somewhere else than in OFP, in ArmA2 there are much more possibilities to make it work and look ok :)

It'll surely require a lot of work. Maybe we will be able to present an even better horse (modelwise) than the one implemented at the moment - time will tell. As for the animations and such - we have assigned a very talented guy, Smookie to perform these. Hopefully the magic he'll be able to do will come close to Assassin's Creed or Red Dead Redemption, hehe. :)

Do you have any A2 knowledge ProfTournesol? Or is your field of expertise only OFP? I still remember all your config/script advice, but just wanted to ask if you'd be around if/once we come up with something like this maybe?

Buldozer shots steal much of the quality away (must set it up properly). Hope to show some ingame shots soon.

Yesterday , when i clearing my hard disk after end of session in college from diffrent garbage , in old files among pictures of Shilka, T-72, Mig-21 models i find intresting manual. It's manual to Maksim MG , that widely used in Red Army. Manual has not only teaching to fire, it's has lot of pictures of parts of MG. Its was release in 39 year(it's write on first picture 1939-МОСКВÐ), i think, that it's can be useful for your team.:)

Nope, i'm 100% OFP modding (apart from some A2 missions scripting/ editing), and i'm running short on time to finish my last (but not least :D) mod. But i'll support you as much as i can, PM me whenever you think i can help you.

Although some of the models look like they could use a bit more polys, your texture work is absolutely fantastic! ;)

Yesterday's addition -> Polish cavalryman, featuring leather gloves, body elements by LODU and a newly modeled Adrian 1915 helmet by Jaksa (+ a quick placeholder texture by me). The finished unit should be a fair approximation to the original as shown here
