KillSh0t 10 Posted January 22, 2011 I seriously hate rabbit's.... Hour's of perfecting a mission just to have everything get held up by one lil bunny rabbit.... Why dont the umpteen ton vehicles just squish these little creatures instead of acting as if they were just blinded by some unseen force cast from the bunnies themselves? Even after the rabbit is well clear of the road the driver starts swirvering all over the place like he was drunk er summin. The drivers barely hesitate to squish a fellow soldier on the road or an innocent by-stander such as a civi but when it comes to the rabbit and his friends....the war must wait for the animals to cross? was P.E.T.A involved in the making of this game lol? Guess ill just have to use that animal removal mod er whatever it is...just curious as to why AI will squish a unit before he'll squish a rabbit
concurssi 11 Posted January 22, 2011 Do rabbits even spawn without the ambient animals module?

rübe 127 Posted January 22, 2011 Them problem are not really the bunnies. It's the driving-fsm that needs to be improved. Instead of trying to immediately circumnavigate an obstacle a driver meets, he should check instead of what type that obstacle is; if the obstacle may itself move (vehicles, animals, ...) then just wait a little while and do nothing. Because chances are given, that the object concidered to be an obstacle will move out of the way all by itself. Let's have a timeout and after say a minute or two, the driver may give it a try and go on to circumnavigate "living" obstacles too. This would not only solve the problem with bunnies, but a lot of other nonsensical behaviour of drivers too. They just need to be more patient in a lot of situations. But yes, I wouldn't mind a squished bunny or two either, hehe.

bushlurker 46 Posted January 22, 2011 (edited) I've died as a direct result of rabbits on several occasions! :D... little bas*@!ds... Here's a soundfile I've found handy in these situations... (make a "sound" folder inside your "my documents/Arma2" folder - where your profile, etc is - and put this file in there - it'll be available in-game via the radio menu under "custom")... Be vewy vewy quiet... :D P.S> - Yeah - rabbits are hardwired into the island itself, like birds & insects - they're independent of the "ambient animals" module, and the density of the little buggers is down to the island designer... Was acting as spotter for a sniper using a thermal scope and him using a sniper rifle with a normal mill dot scope, we spent a good ten minutes with me trying to talk the shooter on to a target partialy obscured by a rock. This the short version of what happened: Target, 15 degrees. NOT SEEN Reference Electricity pole. Reference Electricity pole Seen Right of Pole in foreground rocks. Reference foreground rocks Seen. Right of Rocks Smaller rocks Reference smaller rocks seen. Target Left Side Small Rocks Target NOT SEEN Target Left Side Small Rocks, will correct, Shoot Shot Splash seen up 10 and Shoot Shot Splash NOT SEEN! are you sure that was 10? yeh Down 5, Shoot Shot Splash seen! are you sure that was 5? Yeh OK Down err down 4, Shoot Target still not seen, shot. Splash seen! Err about .5 lower, Shoot Target still not seen, shot. Think you hit him? Target still not seen!?
