LMLM 10 Posted May 2, 2009 Is that the whole map map in the recently released screenshot? http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/armaii/images/0/7/?full_size=1 Or is that just 1/4 of the whole map? I looked in the forums here and count not find an answer. Thanks!
W0lle 1050 Posted May 2, 2009 Should be the whole map as far as I can tell.
Deadfast 43 Posted May 2, 2009 Well, ArmA 2 features only the Sothern Zagoria region of Chernarus. The actual country is much bigger according to the Chernarus PDF available on arma2.com
LMLM 10 Posted May 2, 2009 Okay thanks for the quick answer! I'm looking forward to playing the game!
GRS 10 Posted May 2, 2009 I'm wondering how they plan to cut players off from traveling too far north...
LMLM 10 Posted May 2, 2009 I'm wondering how they plan to cut players off from traveling too far north... I think they will take Dr. Evil's lead on how to cut players off: Scott Evil: It's no hassle... Dr. Evil: Sh! Scott Evil: But... Dr. Evil: Sh! Scott Evil: I'm... Dr. Evil: Sh! Scott Evil: All I'm say... Dr. Evil: Sh! Scott Evil: There gonna get a... Dr. Evil: Sh! Scott Evil: I'm... Dr. Evil: Sh! Scott Evil: I'm just... Dr. Evil: Sh! Scott Evil: Would... Dr. Evil: Sh!... Knock-knock. Scott Evil: Who's there? Dr. Evil: Sh! Scott Evil: But... Dr. Evil: Let me tell you a little story about a man named Sh! Sh! even before you start. That was a pre-emptive "sh!" Now, I have a whole bag of "sh!" with your name on it.
Praelium 0 Posted May 2, 2009 There are one or two islands not shown.
max power 21 Posted May 2, 2009 I'm wondering how they plan to cut players off from traveling too far north... I don't believe they will. I think it will be infinite procedural terrain, like the infinite ocean in ArmA and OFP.
sidhellfire 0 Posted May 2, 2009 Well, that would be Charming for pilots. Especially if the height would vary, and textured with those fancy Farma2 ploughed fields.
Perun 0 Posted May 2, 2009 Well, ArmA 2 features only the Sothern Zagoria region of Chernarus. The actual country is much bigger according to the Chernarus PDF available on arma2.com This doesn't mean that there will be whole Chernarus in Arma 2. It is definetly whole map of Arma 2, but there might be some procedural "infinite"(???) landscape. Of course I don't think that it will be possible to get in Russia in Campaign. So there will be some script which will create a huge Russian army with you as target.

nikodemus 10 Posted May 2, 2009 It might be that BI would release an addon pack with a new map of the same country, possibly with that Novigrad city in it.
celery 8 Posted May 2, 2009 I eagerly await to see how the off-map is done. It might be a fruitful ground for missions with generic/random terrain.
nikodemus 10 Posted May 2, 2009 My guess is you either: crash if flying a jet/chopper blow up if on an APC/Tank just simply drop dead as an infantryman.
Rocco 0 Posted May 2, 2009 I like the infinite land idea, hope it will be like that.
ricbar89 0 Posted May 2, 2009 It looks petty small, but if that means detail i dont mind.
Misfit Leader 1 Posted May 2, 2009 Sahrani was smaller ;)
Recta DP 10 Posted May 2, 2009 What I would love to see in a collectors edition is a high quality printed topographic map of the ingame territory. Example: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/79/Topographic_map_example.png Does anyone know if there are plans to ship the game with such a map? REXinator 10 Posted May 2, 2009 I guess its not as easy to create a large open terrain like this and model all the terrain outside the map so a repeating terrain is most likely, Unlike Sahrani which was an island so you wouldnt really care wats "out there" and over that hill. Deadfast 43 Posted May 2, 2009 Does anyone know if there are plans to ship the game with such a map? There will be a map shipped with the Czech special edition. Don't know any details on it though...

sidhellfire 0 Posted May 3, 2009 (edited) Being nice doesn't mean it is valuable. Compass, map, helmet - these are cool gadgets, but unless you've got collector's soul it's useless junk :-) I would rather like to see things, that would get use at daily basis like ie. MOLLE backpack with arma2 logo on it, tent, patches, vest, binoculars, radio etc. The most important, that others would notice it, and thus get involved in the game. With a bit of luck, it would change that person world and I find it a more satisfying fir myself, than having another decoration in house.
