beton 2 Posted April 1, 2010 (edited) Hi everybody, i´m very happy to announce the release of the Summerpack v 1.0 by Bushlurker, Homer Johnston and Beton The intention behind this addon is to give the community a basis of summervegetation to use on chernarus or on custom islands so there is a quasi standard used by the map or missiondesigners which is accepted by hopefully many servers. At the moment this addon replaces the complete vegetation of chernarus with a green summervegetation . As you notice the satmap got an overhaul too (V1.0) so if anybody is able and willing to contribute this would be great. There will be an addonversion for addonmakers out very soon. Mirrors are as always appreciated Links: v1.0 http://www.mediafire.com/?k6977186kcli3wv http://www.mediafire.com/?4kch1w78genktmg http://www.mediafire.com/?tkj8g9i5h5ep939 http://www.mediafire.com/?ce26j9rrrr61fr4 http://www.mediafire.com/?zaxyk3kq13m14gg http://www.mediafire.com/?3achlds19lkgeon armed-assault.de http://dl1.armed-assault.de/a2addons/@sum_rep_1.0.7z armedassault.info http://www.armedassault.info/index.php?game=1&cat=addons&id=1614 arma2base.de http://arma2base.de/include.php?path=download&contentid=2896 Armaholic http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=10093 Thanks for the mirrors some pics: have fun... bushlurker 46 Posted April 1, 2010 (edited) Hi everybody! Well - thanks almost entirely to Beton, we have the first beta of this addon... comments welcome, thats why it's out there... Despite the self-explanatory pbo's - a few words about this and what it does..... Essentially - like any other Replacement-type addon - these files completely override the default vegetation with summer-style veggies... Because it overwrites the BIS veg - IN MEMORY ONLY - that means that - while you have this addon loaded - ALL BIS veg will be summered - that means Chernarus, Utes - and - any other island you happen to have running which draws its veg data from the default BIS range... that means Instant Summer Podogorsk, for example... The only way to switch from summer to autumn style is to close the game - disable the Summer Mod, and restart - everything will be back to normal... slight bummer - but thats the nature of replacement addons... For this reason a seperate modfolder is recommended - call it anything you like - it doesn't matter - then you can just tick or untick it in your launcher for EzEe switching... As far as FPS is concerned... like LandTex, this addon basically replaces info the game loads anyway with a slight variation on that info... apart from the few seconds extra loading time as the game loads the default veg, then immediately overwrites it with slightly different data - FPS will be entirely unaffected... Why it still looks the same in the distance..... Essentially, the ground texture you see at distance is derived from the satellite map - not the vegetation objects... This addon doesn't affect that - it's a seperate thing - so, in the distance, the Chernarus terrain will still look autumn... Kju made the original LandTex... since he's no longer around, I'll have a look at that issue myself shortly... Guess that's all for now, except to say thanks again to Beton, for doing the vast majority of the work (my entire contribution was the little plants pack), and to Homer Johnston, for kickstarting the project in the first place, and actually getting things organised. Binkowski 26 Posted April 1, 2010 i'm going to wait for the mirror because when i downloaded summer trees it said the file was corrupt. maybe its something on my end, ive been having a lot of the zip files i download (7z, rar, zip) being corrupted.
beton 2 Posted April 1, 2010 @ Bink: maybe filefront is a bit busy atm? If not i suggest you check your harddrives... last time i had this problem with corrupted downloads was shortly before one of them died....

Grizzle 0 Posted April 2, 2010 (edited) i'm going to wait for the mirror because when i downloaded summer trees it said the file was corrupt. maybe its something on my end, ive been having a lot of the zip files i download (7z, rar, zip) being corrupted. I had the same problem with summer trees - maybe the archive is whacked? OK, so I downloaded it twice and it failed to extract both times with a CRC error. Steakslim 1 Posted April 2, 2010 Same problem with the Trees pbo. It won't extract.
rstratton 0 Posted April 2, 2010 fair to say the trees are corrupted?
bushlurker 46 Posted April 2, 2010 (edited) I just checked the trees d/l myself - definitely a problem with the file itself... I'm sure Beton will sort it out... B Edited April 2, 2010 by Bushlurker
blaunarwal 10 Posted April 2, 2010 Confirm crc error on summertrees_0.5.rar on the end of unpacking. File is in the directory with 346'038'272 bytes. Binkowski 26 Posted April 2, 2010 alright, they get it it's corrupted lol. im sure they're working on fixing it, thanks bushlurker and beton.
icebreakr 3159 Posted April 2, 2010 Congrats guys on the release, finally Chernarus won't look like a "sad" place:) Too bad I didn't have time to help you out, I just repainted what I needed for Panthera :/
prowler.wolf 0 Posted April 2, 2010 When I upload large files to filefront they seem to always get corrupted. Try uploading to some other location like megaupload for example.
beton 2 Posted April 2, 2010 I have now split the large file in three parts. Reuploading again, should be ready soon. sorry for the inconvenience...
ACPL Jon 68 Posted April 2, 2010 thanks Beton, can't wait too see a "happier" Chernarus! :)
bushlurker 46 Posted April 2, 2010 (edited) Hmm... I see this isn't sorted yet... Apologies to everyone waiting... Filefront is the culprit, I suspect... I had hassles with them when we were swapping these files during development.. the Downloads seemed to "drop" when only part-finished, and be corrupted internally occasionally on Upload - at busy times of day in particular, I noticed... They ARE big files - the nature of Replacement Addons again... I DO have a full copy of the trees, but I'm by no means sure it's the "Final" version. Beton did a huge amount of work on this in a very short period of time... There wasn't even meant to be a clutter replacement in this version - Beton added that himself in about a day! I wasn't kidding when I said he's done most of the work on this... Anyone remember the "Time Bandits" movie? when the little guys are explaining they were gods helpers during Creation, but didn't make anything important like people or elephants - just little stuff like shrubs and plants? - that was me on this project! :D Anyway... best wait for Beton to sort it out and post new links... I believe he's also making enquiries about a possible new version of LandTex - a summer one to match the veg... That would be great! If that doesn't occur we'll see about making one ourselves... in time for the next version, maybe... Meantime, Here's a couple of pics... beton 2 Posted April 2, 2010 Ok... first of all i have to say i´m very sorry about the problems with the trees. I have now split the archive in three parts and uploaded the whole bunch about 6!! times to provide a not corrupted download. I have tested it twice... the download works. I´ll assure ill test my links before posting them in the future... So now everyone who still wants can try and maybe enjoy the summerfeeling n chernarus. Feedback is very welcome... as stated before.. and anybody with knowledge on how to tweak the satmap of chernarus should please share it... happy Easter....everyone:) @ bushlurker... you should not play down your role in this project... without cooperation nothing would have happened yet... sic-disaster 311 Posted April 2, 2010 Damn i like the look of those screenshots. Chernarus looks a whole lot better in the summer then it does in Autumn. Or maybe i have by now played too many games who think that realism = brown and the colourscheme now just annoys the hell out of me. Downloading now.
r3volution 0 Posted April 3, 2010 (edited) Damn this mod and the sheer amount of effort it represents is amazing. The summer vegetation makes Chernarus look almost happy! Out of curiousity, is this compatible with the Proper Low LOD vegetation mod? Edited April 3, 2010 by r3volution edited for idiot factor
beton 2 Posted April 3, 2010 Well it´s not tested if it´s compatible... but it should be since the proper mod only changes the usage of the lods which are present in both... the original and the replacement. Maybe you test it and report back?
