I logged in to approve "Bush Cutter". Should be done as much as possible. :D
  3. O M G... Was this the ARMA 3 that "could have been" : Developers forum: https://forums.unrealengine.com/community/work-in-progress/1533676-game-russia-2055
  4. Been a while but I was wondering has anyone ever tested with any of the Thread Ripper CPUs with QUAD CHANNEL RAM? Would love to see the FPS scaling with more RAM bandwidth. Those TR and Ryzen CPUs are incredible value these days.

    ATMT - Trava (4x4km terrain)

Awesome trailer. I'm am looking forward to this! Looks like a great map like VT5! One suggestion: For the areas outside of the map, can you do a quick recolor so at least the ground matches nearly the same color? The two color differences breaks immersion at high altitude. That's one of my pet peeves with maps that have undeveloped boundaries.
  6. I love all of Max's works. There were Aliens, Predators and Colonial Marines mods since OpFor so things can be worked out.

  8. I've been to Africa and Asia and the plants are totally different. Tanoa assets looks perfect to make maps from southern China all the way down to the SE Asia (Malaysia, Indonesia and Philippines + everything in between) but the African foliage or trees look different. Actually, Berghoff did a REALLY good job of getting the feel of the trees. I have photos to compare from the "bush" if you wish but it is spot on. The only thing I would like to see are MORE polygons to detail it out but that would add a performance hit. Lets not go into an African wild life pack because I would totally pay for that... lions, panthers, hyenas, jackals, leopards, elephants, big boa snakes, etc... I think perhaps a community foliage pack that upgrades regional plants to Apex quality would be a better option. This way we can just load the mod to increase the details for existing maps through config replacements. I mean, we to admit, Apex is really BIS BEST asset pack yet. They really went all out and I can understand people wanting to upgrade maps to that quality because it does stick out.
  9. orllak32 Group Link 5 FX has an option to set buildings on fire but appears to work with Blastcore! I tried it a few times and it did work. but it also has an AI mod so I am not sure if you want to use that function. I THINK you can move the AI PBO into a folder to disable it but you need gl5_core and the fx pbo in the addons folder to work. You also need to copy the userconfig and set it correctly. I still use it for my squad AI vs other AI mods for opfor or infor ( :D ) but I have disabled the burning buildings effect because I found even shooting bullets into a building can set it on FIRE! Not sure what those Altians use as building materials! Give it test with CBA to see how it works out for you.

    User Mission Request Thread

I'm looking for an ARCADE or beginner friendly Air Combat mission similar to this from Battlefield 3 but in ARMA: It could be with user mods but I have not found anything with this kind of on rails or hollywood type production... ACE COMBAT or ARCADE air combat would be OK to get to know flight characteristics of ARMA. Not sure if the below is Machinima or a real mission but this is what I'm looking for:

    [Official] Launcher Feedback

Update... I am getting a lot of "STEAM IS OFFLINE" errors in ARMA 3 LAUNCHER even though Steam is connected to the internet clearly and can download and play other games. Seems there is something going on locally on my computer or if the launcher is trying to connect to the internet separately even though the local Steam client has connected successfully to Steam.

    Arma3 or APEX for singleplayer?

Welcome to ARMA. APEX is basically an ADDON to ARMA 3. It includes a new map - Tanoa, and a bunch of new gear with a new sub faction - CSAT Pacific, which is an addition to CSAT. New Map New Weapons New Vehicals New Jets I play mostly in SP myself and I recommend you get at LEAST ARMA 3 + APEX. The Tanoa MAP alone is basically a huge playground and is the BEST map ever made by BIS, my personal opinion. It is a tropical island (Fiji) vs the default ARMA 3 maps which are Mediterranean (Greece). The other DLC you can get later as you get to know ARMA. Also, I understand you have a super high ping but you can try COOP missions as those request less fast connection but much more teamplay. Ravage and Escape missions are top notch for coop play. You DONT have to run and gun to win. Simply surviving can be enough. I play on Outkast's EU escape servers all the time. You can at least just ping Outkasts.eu to see if your response time is good enough ~ 300 ms or less. There is a wealth of single player missions and coop just takes it another step up. Good luck and welcome to ARMA.
  14. No worries. I can still point it to my ARMA 3 folder and have it updated the dedicated server exe and files which are the same as production. Can you add a feature to import the BIS ARMA 3 Launcher *.PRESET2 files in addition to the exported HTML file from the launcher? It would help to setup servers based a few mod presets already. Also add something like OK TO ALL option to deal with: "--------------------------- Flax's Arma Server Tool --------------------------- UpdateModGrid - An exception occurred: Conversion from string "Not Installed" to type 'Date' is not valid. --------------------------- OK ---------------------------" Errors since I have to click OK or press ENTER for each and every occurrence? This way we can just auto skip that error and let program continue parsing the HTML file and the add back manually added mods later.
  15. I just tried this mod for another reason, trying to see if it will help update my subscribed steam mods because ARMA 3 Launcher is acting up, but I noticed it does NOT load my ARMA 3 Launcher profiles. Or it does, but does not populate the list of mods to be checked for updating. A request - can we set this to use the default ARMA game installation? Because some of us play coop and MP hosting on our own machines and this looks like it easier to use than setting up a local dedicated server by scripting. We don't need to download steam dedicated server. We have the files. We just need to be able to setup a server on the same machine easily.
  16. Near Future Military Sci Fi is my second favorite subject! Horror is my number one so if we can pretend its one topic, even better! :D There are a few mods that I play with nearly constantly thanks mainly TPW_MODS which lets me setup open sandbox roleplay type game scenarios. It can let select multiple factions going at each other! There is the Lost Dragon's mod as you said. There were two Star Wars mods that have since been removed from Steam Workshop and another one in development based on Hoth. A Mass Effect port also removed but I think those were from commercial games? Then there are these on Steam Workshop: Zabb's DPC mod - Basically Stray Dogs Red Spectacles armor and weapons Pook's Aliens Mod - ported from the Arma 2 mod EXO MOD - Call of Duty style Exo Suit Operation Trebuchet - HALO mod with guns, armors and vehicles! And check related mods... ArmStalker mod Bad Benson's Zetaborn Aliens in the FAP mod UN-COM mod - think ARMA version of XCOM UEC - United Earth Coalition Forces - think XCOM human forces Bad Benson and McRuppert's Dino mod with Zombies Zombies and Demon's mod Ravage - Zombie and post apocalyptic mod Warfare Thai - has bunch of really cool Zombies Lago's Crysis Nanosuit Lago's Railguns Mephisto Hovertank X-66 Mammoth Tank T-100 Railgun Tank - which was supposed to be ARMA3 during the Alpha phase Wanzer Mech Mod Macross Mod Mods you can find on Armaholic or the forums: Max Zombie mod - just awesome shamblers... These are off the top of my head and there are more but you have to keep looking for it. I wish ARMA 4 would have 2 products honestly - traditional hardcore shooter and a scifi version like they had planned originally with ARMA3. It could be a scifi DLC for all I care as I've been waiting for an ARMA Advanced Warfare type mod for a long time. With Aliens and plagues... :D
  17. I haven't done a test as blue or opfor or infor. I would not have survived the rally run with skirmish on due to being targeted but can check since I have time today. Thank you for looking into the park code. Please PM me a link to a test build so I can check. I still have the mission setup.
  18. Hi TWP, Please also note I was playing as civilians with my AI team so I can "watch" the skirmish without fear of being targeted but would assume the risk in an active warzone. It was funny to see my AI driver follow the skirmish AI groups and vehicles to the area of conflicts. You can imagine the feeling rising up while riding with your mate and he just HAD to turn the car around to see what was going on somewhere else other than your destination during perilous times. :D
  19. yes to overclock your existing CPU if possible (might need to consider the cost of a better heatsink and cooler combo) and I mean get another 8 GB of RAM if you can fit it into your current motherboard. I think your system is currently only using DDR3, not DDR4. If you buy a new CPU and RAM, you have to also at the very least get a new compatible motherboard as well such as any of the 100, or 200 series .. eg 170Z, 270Z, etc... The Z motherboards supposedly allow overclocking while the cheaper H are for office use and don't allow much if any overclocking. For ARMA 2 and 3, you have to overclock a little to get the max out of it due to the engine requirements. Also read Old Bear's links. He has a lot of experience on building fast systems for ARMA.
  20. Hi TPW, I did another test and I THINK the skirmish AI is hijacking the player group AI. What I did was placed a car and 2 other AI plus myself at the TOP NE of Altis near CAP STRIGLA: Group all AI including driver to myself, start in single player from EDEN, command all AI to board the car including myself and set destination waypoint to the end of the road near FOURNOS (bottom SW): Sitting back and watch, with all TPW features ON, except for FALL or BLEEDING, I noticed the driver AI eventually starts to veer off its destination, circles back from its current path and follows the waypoints for the SKIRMISH vehicles AI. Eventually, the car gets damaged or blown up from the local skirmish. If you setup a rally, say 3 vehicles, add a passenger in each, with you in the first car, and set the same destination as detailed above, eventually one or two of the driver AI will also veer off path and follow the SKIRMISH vehicles or invisible waypoints. I also tested the AI loading by just setting both DRAW and OBJECT distance under video to 1000 or 4000 at ultra settings. Setting it at 1000 is MUCH MUCH smoother but the driver AI switches to the skirmish AI waypoints much faster. If you have time, can you test this for academic reasons. I have yet to finish the rally with skirmish ON. If I skirmish OFF, I can finish it plus this was how I discovered the PARK errors when speeding through towns roughly 10 mins into the mission. ~ 20-30 minutes to finish the rally depending on how fast and handling the car can be. I used Jonzie's Mini Cooper Rally Version as I found that to be a superb handling car for on road AI driving with good top speed without it crashing much: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=546678015 We can pretend we are escaping an all out war on Altis with a rescue boat or heli near Fournos if you need a reason but this made testing this mod's features and AI so much more fun. Lastly, love the FIRE. Looks awesome and made my testing more immersive!
  21. You have a GOOD CPU. Now if you can only Overclock it to 4.5 to even 5 GHZ, you won't need a new processor for ARMA 3 unless you run a ton of AI. If your main game is ARMA, then you can consider: You do need more RAM, my personal opinion, because ARMA in 64 bit will use about 12-13 GB on Tanoa streaming all the assets. If you can just upgrade those 2 things, I think you would be OK. BUT if you have the funds and the itch to really upgrade, I would recommend at the last the following: 6700K, 7700K, 7740K or 8700K CPU but find the one that can OC to about 5 GHZ or as close as possible. These CPU are technically the same except for the 8700K which has more cores that ARMA does not use, but get the one that can OC as high as possible. You can optionally take one step back down to 6600K, or 7600K which does not have HyperThreading, but ARMA kinda uses it. It makes like 2-3 FPS at best but other games and programs will use HT if it is available so if is like less than 50 USD difference, it may be worth it. RAM - get 16 GB of the fastest RAM you can buy, ideally ~ DDR4 3000 or faster. ARMA loves fast RAM and if you buy a new system, might as well go for it. Next, get an SSD and move ARMA from the Steam client to it. It will help stream the game so much better. I personally recommend a 400+ GB or up to 1 TB SSD due to all the mods you might install. Last would be to consider the GPU. ARMA is the only other game, next to GLDOOM or GLDUKE3D, that I recommend to buy the fastest CPU and ram you can afford first. All other games should be GPU first. Note this is ONLY for ARMA 2 and 3. ARMA 4 engine hopefully and should be fully multithreaded by the time it comes out so more cores and threads can help a lot there, hopefully, which would mean a more modern CPU with 6+ cores. This would be same for OTHER modern games. GPU first, SSD second, CPU + RAM last.

    [WIP] =ARC= Farkhar Valley

I tested this map with various mods and I really like the built up town areas. It is a lot of fun for skirmishes. I do agree the ground texturing needs work... especially the mountains. Maybe you can just use the default Altis and Stratis ground textures instead? Because that way we can also use Bad Benson's mid level textures. It would make the distance and empty areas a LOT better looking from far away. And / Or you can increase the draw distance allowed for the grass so it would cover it up. The layout and details are very good. Only the low resolution ground texture make its look like it was from OPFOR days!
  24. Thanks TPW! Fire lit tire piles and trash would be perfect for those riot type missions! On a related note to the previous build, I was on a tour visiting a few maps over Easter Sunday in EDEN. I sat as a passenger with the AI driving through a couple of maps. Altis for example from the NE town all the way down to the SW most town. When I pass through some of the cities, I would get an error from TPW PARK spamming errors. I noticed the AI was driving thru roughly between 70 - 90 KM or whatever the TWP HUD VEL was measure (had glasses on by spawn). If I walk through a town, or spawn in a town, it would be fine. I am unsure if the cpu thread was overloaded or timing out with zombies and skirmish in the background (default settings but with custom selected units - no errors for those parameters). I'll do some more test and see but I noticed this mainly in Altis. On a smaller map, this did not occur.
