  1. Hi... Thanks so much for the response - it's a big Alive scenario I built a year or so ago on one of the default terrains (Altis/Stratis) - I know ArmA has been updated since then - could that still be the cause ? Again - it does open when I just want to play it... I'm also using the 2D editor... When I select the appropriate terrain in the edior - then click open - there are no missions listed for it... Really - just trying to refresh my memory on how to setup Alive... Regards, Scott

    Arma 3 and 21:9 monitors ?

HI Folks, Hmm - sounds really promising - appreciate the feedback... I'm still running my old 4:3 1600x1200 on a top end GTX970 - so this will be a major step for me... Regards, Scott
  3. HI Folks, First I've seen this... Superb effort - historical combat always interested me more than the modern stuff... Did any of you guys see that TV program for the first Chinese American Officer accepted into the Marines ? I don't have his name handy but what an incredible guy... Grew up and CA I believe - his dad had a "Death before Dishonor" tattoo on his arm and he took it to heart... After overcoming the typical racial bias back then by becoming an exceptional officer - he was completely respected by his men "who would follow him to hell and back"... He served in Korea and would wear a blaze orange vest in combat (ignoring the target aspect) so his men would always know where he was at all times- usually where the fighting was the thickest... He used his Chinese language skills to fool the enemy and take advantage on a few occasions... He was instrumental in saving countless lives by leading a blocking force to hold back the horde bent on destroying the Frozen Chosin on their famous march... I thought it spoke volumes that he was trusted so completely with such a critical mission - fighting the Chinese - so much for the internment camp mentality... He died fairly recently - I remember seeing the article... What an amazing guy - really struck a chord with me - unfortunately - we don't make many like that anymore... Looking forward to this mod... Regards, Scott

    CH-46 Knight

Hi Folks, Go Navy ! Superb model and thanks for contributing to Unsung - my favorite mod... Regards, Scott
  5. Hi Folks, Thanks for the help - let me give it a try... While I'm no expert - I think the last piece of the puzzle would be to index the maps for use with Alive... I'll play around with this info... Always amazed by this community at how many people do so much for this community - for no money... Kind of refreshing... Thanks one and all... Regards, Scott
  6. Man Eggbeast - what a great set of shots... I just noticed that large area on the map without foliage... Is that still a work in progress ? Are there any Jolly Greens - planned or included ? Regards, Scott
  7. Hi... Thanks for the help as well - let me poke around to reaclimate myself... Regards, Scott
  8. Hi... Thanks for the response - yeah - had checked the wiki - didn't know if it was actively kept up to date... ;) Regards, Scott
  9. Hi Folks, Just tried completing the first mission in the Motherland campaign - vanilla - I killed all the targets with the ZiS-3 (76mm) yet the mission isn't moving on to the next step - any idea as to what else I have to do with the ZiS-3 to move forward ? Thanks... Regards, Scott
  10. Hi Gunter, Thanks for all the info as well - I don't get as much time to mess with this as I'd like - but - I'll see what I can do with your suggestions... Appreciate the help... Regards, Scott
  11. Hi... Thanks - you're right - the classes are listed in the Alive wiki... I'll have to see if any of the maps are indexed - if not - you can probably use the custom goals function to drive combat in the map... I'll play around with this.... I found a related video: Regards, Scott
  12. Hi Gunter, Just for the record - I only bought Iron Front from Steam last week - I'm running Windows 10 and the conversion tool worked fine... I think what might discourage many from trying this fantastic mod is the relatively large number of individual downloads and files that need to be installed to get it working... Just a question - some of the vehicles can be controlled via "analog" (joystick) input for steering and others can't... Is this still a work in progress or is this something that isn't planned for change... A good example is the US Willies Jeep - there are two entries for it - one takes the analog input - the other does not... If it's a simple task - would you share how disable the improved accuracy of the guns in the WarMod - I do kind of like how running around decreases accuracy in vanilla Arma 3 and would just like to try it... Is there any plan to make the mod Alive compatible ??? I think we would need the class names defined for various groups and eventually the maps would need to be indexed as well... Thanks again... Regards, Scott
  13. Hi Gunter, Yeah - while I realize the Iron Front for A3 is a layered mod with many contributors - Holy Smokes - the final result is a work of art... I'm using it with that "Real Light" mod (highly recommend) and very high video setting with max vegetation - it's beautiful and the scenery has a lot of pop... I can't believe the difference from Arma 2 - just wow... Thanks to everyone who made this possible... I've been noticing all the improvements your final WarMod made as well - superb addition - great new weapons - and - sounds... I've been having a blast... Much appreciated... :) Regards, Scott
  14. Hi... Nope - just got it working last night on 1.52... In the detailed instructions there is a patch to update it - granted this isn't the easiest package to setup but from what I've seen - well worth the effort... You need to follow Gunter's procedure - the one with the screenshots of the conversion tool... It works... Best of luck... Regards, Scott

    War Chronicles WW2 Modification

Hi Folks, While I haven't done any work in Arma - I've done a considerable amount of modeling for other sims - and all I can say - for the amount of hours it takes to create something of value - it has to be a labor of love... You couldn't pay me enough for the amount of time, blood, sweat, and tears it takes me to model something - hah - maybe I'm just slow... I salute all the freeware guys who choose to share with the community... Keep up the good work and thanks... :) Regards, Scott

    UFO Series

Hah - this doesn't have anything to do with the TV Series from the early 70's - does it ? My age is showing... Regards, Scott

    IFA3WarMod Release

Hi Gunter, I worked on downloading and installing your mod last night... No joy... I was following a procedure off one of your links (the one with screenshots of the conversion tool) - I ran the IF conversion tool - seemed to work... The link had about 4 or 5 different downloads ranging anywhere from 32MB to 2.6GB... One of the files - I think it was IFA3Fix (approx. 500MB) seemed corrupt as I couldn't open the tar file with 7Zip... The other tar file worked fine... I did download it more than once just to make sure... After reading this post again - do I need to load all those files listed on the other page or is that procedure outdated ??? The one here seems to indicate only the following files are needed: IF + Normandy DLC (via conversion tool) CBA IFA3 Warmod 1.1 Full Version Thanks... :) Regards, Scott

    IFA3WarMod Release

Hi Folks, LOL - me too... I figured out the part I misunderstood - Iron Front is a stand alone package that's not part of Arma 2 which cost $24.99 - at least that's what I paid... Just installed the stand alone Iron Front and I'm pretty impressed - even though this is still Arma 2... The maps are beautiful and the content looks pretty decent... I haven't started porting to Arma 3 yet - just a couple observations - while some of the sounds are pretty decent - some are just not quite as good... The other thing I noticed is that the mobility of operating the Sherman seems a bit poor - it seems slower to turn than the German tanks and not any faster... From my understanding - the Sherman should have been a little hot rod compared to other German tanks - hence why it was equipped the little pop gun and light armer... Anyway - really looking forward to getting some time to upgrade Iron Front with the mods in this thread as it certainly seems worthy of the time and effort.... Regards, Scott

    IFA3WarMod Release

Hi Gunter, Oh - I must have misread a post on licensing - thanks so much for the response and the package... Nah - I'll try your way first - let me download the pack and start to get familiar with it... In Arma 3 I've spent a bunch of time learning how to use Alive... In Arma 2 I've been using Unsung and I44... Even after two months of pretty consistant use - I still feel I'm only scratching the surface on how to use it... Thanks again - looking forward to trying this... :) Regards, Scott

    IFA3WarMod Release

Hi Folks, I'm still relatively new at Arma and I'm interested in historical combat... I have Arma 2 /3 and I've been using it for the past couple months... Been reading up on IF and looking around... I've seen earlier references that it was Payware in Arma 2 - is it still Payware and if so how much is it and where do I purchase a license ??? I've checked many of the links posted in threads and none seem to indicate a purchase... I've also noticed that there are references to numerous addons such as D-Day Invasion - do I still need to locate addons or is it all contained in a single package ? Is there an option to disable the stable sights I saw showcased in a demo video ??? I kind of feel that the basic Arma processing seems like it may be more realistic... Thanks ! ;) Regards, Scott

    War Chronicles WW2 Modification

Hi Folks, Best of luck with the mod - I like what I see... I have far more interest in historical and present day combat - than any of the futuristic stuff presented in vanilla... I'd kill for an M-1 Garand done on par with Toadies excellent work (been using his superb M-14 a great deal lately as I actually qualified with the weapon while in the military) - just love that "plink" sound with the M-1 on the last bullet (providing your enemy is not standing directly in front of you at the time)... I haven't used a WWII FPS since MOH: Allied Assault - certainly anticipating your work... Regards, Scott

    Squad Resupply

Hi Folks, Just a basic question - how do you tell your squad to resupply themselves from available stores ? The seem to run around yelling "out of ammo" when they are right next the available supplies. I haven't noticed them resupplying themselves on their own. Regards, Scott

    Squad Resupply
